    This switch works great
This Lutron occupancy sensor is great it works just as it’s suppose to and it’s also pretty easy to install. I like that you can program it to different settings. It matches very well with the Lutron screwless wall plate that I have.

Works just the way it's supposed to
I needed this motion sensor switch for a long hallway from the garage to the kitchen. The light switch is not within reach when coming in the door from the driveway, and at night that is an issue since that spot is very dark. I installed this switch at the end of the hallway next to the garage entry and it has solved that problem – the light comes on automatically and I have it set to turn off after 1 minute of no motion. The programming steps are easy and you can set it to turn off 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 30 minutes after it stops sensing motion. You can set the sensitivity at low or high, although I have not noticed much difference between the two. It is sensitive enough that even my cat will trigger the light once she’s half-way down the hallway; for humans and large dogs it triggers as soon as I enter the hallway from the kitchen, which is 26 feet direct sight from the sensor switch. You can also adjust for daylight sensing, although the end of my hallway is always fairly dim so that setting is not much different in my particular situation (set all preferences BEFORE installing the cover plate.) I felt the directions were easy to understand and I also found several helpful videos online, but once I pulled out my existing switch I found that my wiring setup was a bit different than what the instructions or videos showed – I had a third black wire and no ground wire connected to the existing 3-way switch. I used a contactless voltage detector pen to determine which black wires were hot. I called the Lutron 24/7 tech line and they walked me through the correct wiring configuration for my situation and stayed on the phone until I completed it and confirmed that the switch was working properly. That was awesome! The switch does take a couple of minutes to self-program once you turn the power back on, so don’t panic if it doesn’t work immediately. You can hear a low click when the lights come on – not a big deal for me. A 3-way application like mine requires that you also modify the wiring on the companion switch (clearly stated on step 3 of instructions) - that was very easy and requires no additional supplies. This switch is a total win for me.

Installation is somewhat simple, so far it’s working as expected , but if you’re not operating anything other than bulbs you’re better off with a lower priced one unless you also need three way operation cover is extra about $5.00 regular covers don’t work well

        Great energy saving motion activated.
Lutron's Maestro Occupancy Sensor switch is a easy, and low cost way to save energy and add automation to your home in just five minutes. The auto off feature of this motion sensor switch saves me a lot in energy cost (Programmable time-out of lights - 1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes). I installed this unit in my homes entryway, lights before install would stay on all day and sometimes all night. This sensor features XCT Sensing Technology which detects minor motion, such as typing at a desk or reading, ensuring sensor does not turn off inadvertently. Also equipped with ambient light detection, you can customize your sensor to detect daylight so lights don't turn on with enough natural light in your room. This Maestro Sensor works with any bulb type, including CFLs and LEDs, or fans up to 3 amps. This switch can also be easily programmed to function as a vacancy (manual-on) sensor. Coordinating Claro wall plates accessories sold separately. Up to 600 Watt incandescent, halogen, electronic low Watt voltage; 200 Watt magnetic low Watt voltage; Single-pole/3-way only No neutral wire required

        Comes In Very Handy
While it is somewhat expensive, this is exactly the product we needed and really looks great in the prominent location we have it installed. Our garage is attached to the house through our laundry/mud room, which is an area often passed through or briefly used, but one which requires bright light through its single overhead light. At least 90% of the time this light was left on because our hands are full carrying kids to the car or baskets of laundry to and from the washer and dryer any time we enter or leave this area. And I cant count the number of times I bumped into something because my hands were too full to even turn on the light. Both the problem of turning on the light and keeping the light from being left on are solved by this single product, which took less than half an hour to install, even with only a little experience with wiring electrical outlets and switches. The installed switch looks great, still allows the secondary switch by the garage door to work, and ensures this frequently-traversed part of our house will never be unlit or wasting electricity with a light left on. Even though it is installed on a wall at a 45 degree angle away from the door to the kitchen, the motion detector still turns the light on by the time you are just a few inches through the doorway.

Easy installation in homes with modern wiring
My pantry has a light and switch located at almost the furthest point from the door, so frequently we find ourselves stumbling around in the dark trying to find the switch. This motion sensor switch has solved our problem. In a home wired according to electrical codes, installation is quick and easy- just follow the clearly written instructions, being sure to connect the ground wire. The small amount of power required to operate the switch requires that one connection on the switch must be grounded. Our older home, wired by persons unknown, had ground wires in some places and not others. Our pantry was one of the places without grounding, but I was able to route a new ground wire from a receptacle on the other side of the pantry wall. The motion sensor switch turns the light turns on as soon as we go through the door. Problem solved.

Great switch. Very sensitive and turns on lights even though it is partially blocked from view. The switch was used to control 8 4' flouresent fixtures in a locker room. This has really helped to control our utility costs and turn off the lights when the room is unoccupied. Highly recommend.

        NICELELY DESIGNED AND FUNCTIONAL
This Maestro occupancy sensor switch from LUTRON is a nicely designed and very functional. The switch with included Claro wall plate has a modern clean look and is a great switch to have in a laundry room, hallway, etc. It automatically turns lights on when enter room and its XCT Sensing Technology with 180 degree field of view ensures lights stay on when room is occupied and turns lights off after desired amount of time. This single pole/ 3- way switch works with all bulb types and also has a tap button to manually turn off lights in desired. I installed this motion sensor switch in my shed so I can enter with stuff in my hands without having to fiddle around to turn lights on. So far it has been working flawlessly and is a good improvement over other occupancy sensing switches I have used in the past.

        Just wow
Been using Lutron for years, like from the 70's, my first time with there occupancy sensor switch, was very easy to install and played with adjustment a little but standard works great, installed in my shop hallway as was only a single pole switch and was thinking about changing to 2- 3 way switches as I enter from house into shop turn on walk thru into shop and go out garage door, have to go back and turn off lights, or coming back in need to turn on using door opener light.. This make it way easier walk out of house into the shop and don't worry about lights they go on and off on there own, shop is 35' x 35' so was not sure if range was to much, but walked out back door in far corner long way from sensor and lights came on, have to look for a larger size control to use for shop lights still have 2 2lamp fluorescent to convert to led yet so will have a total of 10 2 lamp 4 ft LED fixtures guess will have to stick amp probe on breaker to see the load for size. But the control is very easy to install, adjust and would look great on finished walls also, works just like they say, but have got used to Lutron products doing just what the say they will do.

Installed easily and has worked well in its first month of use.
Easily installed this 3-way motion sensitive switch in an entry way to replace a Lutron switch and turn on lights automatically. The instructions were well written and readily followed by someone with only a rudimentary knowledge of wiring. It's worked very well in the month it's been in use.

        Wells really well, nice product
The switch was fairly easy to install and the product works extremely well. I am very happy with it. I wish it was a little smaller because it was difficult to stuff all the wires back into junction box along with the existing wires.

Works well and easy to install
It was the perfect solution for our laundry room. It was important that the sensor worked well as it covers the door from the garage also. It took about 45 min to install as I had to modify the other switch - pretty straight forward overall though. I'll probably be buying more...

I bought the lutron placed it in my hallway and I bought a levitron and placed it in my restroom well the light works in the hallway and the light works in the bathroom but if the hallway light comes on it turns off the bathroom light because of the light sensitivity took me a while to figure that one out so I had to adjust the light sensitivity so that they both would work or turn one to manual and put the other one on auto so I put the hallway on manual and put the bathroom on auto and it works just fine , I thought that I had messed up the wiring instructions and that was not the case it took me quite some time to figure out that the reason why the one would shut off right away is because the other one had turned the light on because of sensitivity on the other one it would detect that late and turn off automatically

Works well in 3-way...unlike the other brand
I have the Maestro single-pole 2A switch at another location in my home and it works quite well. I had to install that recently to replace a motion sensor due to the age and not properly running LED bulbs. The Maestro works great with LEDs and the more modern motion sensor tech doesn't continually turn the light on/off on windy days or with the HVAC coming on, like my old one did. This 5A model has all of those nice features but it works with 3-way. At first I bought "the other brand" sold at the Depot since this one is fairly pricey at $40 CAD and the other brand is $10 cheaper (for the 3-way versions). However I could not get that one working well in 3-way, no matter what I tried. Apparently that switch cannot work right in 3-way if you are on the LINE side instead of the LOAD side. I returned that one and paid the extra for the Lutron switch and wired the exact same way, it worked great on the LINE side with another [regular/mechanical] switch on the LOAD side. NOTE: You do have to install a jumper wire on the LOAD side switch in this situation. Now the load side/mechanical switch doesn't actually electrically operate the light, it basically works by "signalling" the motion sensor which in turn...turns on/off the light. The only reason I took off one star is because use of the mechanical switch does not cause the sensor to "latch" the light on. It merely turns it on and then it's subject to the same lights out timeout you've set when programming the sensor. That means you flip the mechanical switch and it will turn on but it won't stay on unless there is continued motion, just as if the motion sensor had turned it on. But it still works much better than the "other brand" alleged "3-way" motion sensor switch so it's worth the $10 extra since it actually works properly otherwise.

This motion detector, which was a light switch replacement in my mud room, has worked perfectly. The only challenge was that it was a 3-way switch, and the 'other' light switch in the kitchen had to be rewired, too. The documentation with the Lutron, especially for an older person's eyes like mine, is small and not very clear. Now, it's not just Lutron that has this documentation issue, I've had it before with other products as well. However, after redoing the wiring a few times, I finally got it right. Mind you, it wasn't the wiring to the motion detector that was the problem, but the wiring changes needed to the 'other' switch in the kitchen. Anyways, this motion detector has worked perfectly, and it offers some options as well to tweak it to your liking.
