This review is for the stainless steel faucet with no motion sense.
I originally purchased this when I moved into my current home 4 years ago because I didn’t like the standard builder’s grade faucet that was in the kitchen. The faucet was professionally installed at the time that I purchased. I really like the look of the faucet with its high arc design that makes it easy for us to clean various pots and pans. Since this was backed with a lifetime warranty, I figured it was built to last. I do think that the Moen brand of faucets (both motion-sense and not) are priced way too high (even on sale) for a faucet, lifetime warranty or not.
So for the last four years, this faucet has worked reliably with no issues or leaks until recently when the pull down hose started spraying water everywhere. Thinking maybe a gasket had gone bad (which can happen with any faucet), I did research on what to do to fix the leak. I removed the sprayer and replaced the gasket only to find the hose continue to spray water everywhere. After looking more closely, it appears that the drop down hose itself had gotten a hole in it and failed near where it connected to the metal support that surrounds the connecting piece to the sprayer. In addition to it spraying water everywhere, this also sprayed water back down the metal spout and onto the underside of the sink, causing a minor flood. If you do have a leak with the hose like this, quickly shut off the valve and dry up any water that has spilled underneath or you will find that the problem has gotten worse with the damage to the wood (or press wood) at the bottom of the sink cabinet.
To my surprise when I researched further, there are lots of complaints about the problems with leaks with this particular style of faucet and with this being an upgrade at the time of the home purchase, I was a bit concerned about whether Moen would honor their warranty. After contacting Moen though, they quickly responded and indicated that they were shipping a replacement pull down hose with no questions asked. At the time, this part was on backorder through the manufacturer meaning that I cannot get this fixed for at least a couple of weeks. This indicates to me that Moen has had a significant amount of problems with this particular part for this faucet, enough so that they can’t fulfill warranty replacement requests timely. I give credit to Moen to responding the warranty request but how can a manufacturer not have parts on hand to fulfill them or better yet provide better quality pull down hoses.
Since that time, I have had the replacement hose fail as well after an even shorter period of time. Moen again replaced it, but these internal hoses should be better made and not the thin plastic that they are made of.
This is a beautiful faucet but is expensive. Considering the price, some of the internal parts seem to be lesser quality than the outer stainless steel shell. At least Moen is willing to honor their warranty but be prepared if you have certain parts failures that they may be backordered for a few weeks.
