This disposal is a beast. It hits hard when first turned on. I probably didn’t need a full 1 HP but liked the lights on it. Only thing is, it was designed for plumbing coming from the back wall so the lights will light up the back and bounce off the wall. Ours had to hooked up on the side so the lights face the side wall but it still lights up the cabinet space. Only had it for a few weeks. It is still louder than I thought it would be. It is very strong however!

1. The online listing for this product says that it can be hardwired and it can. But, when you get it home, open the box and read the documentation, it says that the "cable connector" is not included. Also no wire nuts. To make things more interesting: a: no size is included (K used a 1/2" snap-in, but maybe 3/8 would work because the one that I inserted had a little play) b. it doesn't say whether to use threaded or unthreaded for insertion 2. Once installed, it is a pretty quiet unit

The disposer was very easy to install and works much better than my old unit that was only 1/3 hp. I would give 5 stars but it’s slightly louder than I had hoped. I really like the removable splash guard instead of the permanent one on my previous model.

Does the job and more . Upgraded the garbage disposal while upgrading the sink to an 18 gauge . Coming from an early 2000s 1/3 HP to this … haha it was worth it.

This disposal is a new installation. I was renovating my kitchen and wanted to go with Moen faucet and also a Moen disposal. After reading reviews on all brands, it seems like all of them have their lemons. This one was installed by a plumber and the only negative remark I heard was that the fiber ring mounted under the sink was flimsy. No leaks and the disposal isn't too noisy - only used a few seconds at a time. It does have the initial click that others talk about.

I bought this Moen Chef Series for the power and the decent warranty. I really didn't think that I would care for the motion sensing light feature; our sink is in a cavernous corner cabinet and I thought that light wouldn't do much. To my surprise, it's pretty darn handy and extremely sensitive. The very moment that you begin to open the cabinet door, the light comes on. Installation was typical @ 1/2 hour. A very nice sink stopper is included and it works well. 5☆ if the sensor light was 120VAC or powered by an integral transformer. Though, I do imagine that the batteries will last several years... definitely not a deal breaker. So far, we have only pulverized vegetables and table scraps. Observing the power generated, I feel confident in moving up to poultry bones.

This is a great product ruined by their marketing department. There is zero need for me to have to look in my sink and see their brand name not once, but three times, inscribed into the flange. I’m paying you money for this product, why do I have to see this? If you want to advertise then give me the product for free, don’t charge me for the pro lodge. You are not luxury apparel. There is zero need for this other than some zero at corporate thought it would be cool. Stop it.

this is one of the quietest garbage disposals I've ever heard you can barely hear the motor running at all with it connected to an 18 gauge double bowl sink with a rubberized coating on the back side I would highly recommend this

This EXL100C is incredibly powerful yet quiet. It has never once jammed. The light is incredibly helpful because it illuminates a traditionally dark space and helps us find things we have stored under the sink, and it's motion-activated so it doesn't stay on all the time thereby saving energy. Love this appliance as we do all of our Moen products.

Very easy to install. Fit perfectly for replacement of an old Kenmore disposal.

I had my garbage disposal for two years and it stopped working already. It’s also noisy. I called Moen and they sent me another one. I paid a plumber to install it and I am realizing they sent me garbage disposal with only 1 horse power. So disappointing!

All i had to do was unscrew the old 1, Kenmore, and screw this 1 on. I believe that's what is meant by universal mount. It's not any more quiet than the 15 y/o 1 it replaced. The hardwire install was also just as easy.

This garbage disposal was easy to install and works well! I had another brand before, but much prefer this one.

I have to give this a poor for right now because even though I purchased this months ago I'm still waiting for Home Depot to have it connected. It was finally installed a few weeks ago but it is yet to be connected to power so who knows how good it is or isn't.

I mainly purchased this disposal because it was a full 1 hp and was a Moen product. We have always been pleased with Moen products. It has a "universal" mounting system that should allow an easy swap with most other brands. We had an old Sinkmaster and it was not interchangeable. So we installed the new Moen drain and mounting hardware. We used silicone caulk rather than plumbers putty. It was easiest if my helper held the new drain in place while I completed that install under the sink. In order to mount the disposal to the drain, we found it easier to use wood blocks and cardboard to hold the disposal against the drain. Then all one had to do was keep the drain pipe aligned and tighten the locking ring. The metal C-ring, that locks the mounting bracket to the drain, has a helpful plastic piece to hold it open. Do ensure the C-ring is correctly seated into the drain's groove, as it was not on our first attempt. Due to our deep sink and 1987 plumbing, we couldn't orient the motion sensor to the front, which meant we couldn't easily access the batteries, so we are not using that feature. The batteries "wraparound" the unit so two of the AA batteries would be in the rear and near inaccessible. It would be nice if the LEDs ran off the 120V, but they do not. It took us about 2 hrs to remove the old one and install the new one. Also, we couldn't use the included 90 degree drain pipe; our drain pipe had to come straight out; you may have to purchase a few drain pipe connections. It is a heavy-duty disposal but it is quieter than our old one; it is not a super-quiet model with the isolated drain and mounting connections, but it is a nice compromise on that installation hassle, price, noise, etc. We enjoy it.

This replaced a developer grade 1/3 HP Insinkerator from 2009, and the difference in decibels is a revelation. Quieter wasn't even my goal, but power was. Followed the video instructions and everything went smoothly. It's working properly and I'm 100% satisfied so far, though it's only been one day. If any leaks occur it's probably because I accidentally rotated the assembly after affixing it to the sink, potentially breaking the putty seal. So far no leaks, though. Even though it's slightly larger than the Insinkerator, it's slightly lighter and therefore easier to install alone, if necessary. The only feature I miss is the hex key, blade access control underneath the Insinkerator. Moen forces you to buy a separate unjamming wrench, which at $11 isn't a lot but still, I already own Allen wrenches.

I arrived at my decison to buy a moen because of the excellent installaion video. I read instrucions several times . First unpluged old leaking 13 year old 1/3 hp disposal unit . Then disconected plumbing which i cleaned and replaced nessary parts . And simply with a phllips screwdiver twistrd the old disposal off. I WAS Impressed maybe that took ten minutes. Installation was just as easy

So happy that we chose this top of the line Moen Chef EX series 1 hp garbage disposal. The slim modern design of this unit fits easily under our sink. Installation was fairly easy with step-by-step instructions. We appreciate the powerful one hp motor and the sound insulation helps keep the noise level of this appliance quieter than the one that it replaced. We especially like the battery powered LED lighting this unit provides under our sink…… making it one of our favorite features. We highly recommend the Moen EXL100C for those who want one of the most powerful and well designed garbage disposer available.

Overall I would still recommend this but we were hoping the sound reduction was a little more noticeable. The unit works great otherwise install was super easy and you know it will last with a name like Moen.

Outstanding product, from a trusted name. Installation was so simple, I had to check it a couple times for leaks, thinking that this can't be that easy. Everything in the box, made it ready to use my existing drain and dishwasher drain tube. I ordered online for delivery and 2 days later, it was sitting at my door. Thank you all for the hard work and perfect transaction process.

Simple installation, good fit, good power, but, OMG, when it turns on, it sounds like you're standing on the runway when a Boeing 787 is taking off!!! It is +80dB, measured on my cell phone Sound Meter App. The rubber insert limits the amount of water going down the drain, but, it is a good thing, because it 'slightly' reduces the amount of noise coming from the drain. All I can say... IF it wasn't so loud, I would give it 5 stars, and recommend it to everyone, because it is well built, easy to install, high quality materials, and churns banana peels and steak leftovers with no sweat expended!!

I've had it for a day and I think it's good. My previous one was an insinkerator and it lasted 25 years. It was only 1/2 HP. I had a professional remove that and install this new one because if I did it, there would most likely have been frustration, doubt and cursing. So for $140 a gentleman I hired knocked it out in 30 minutes. I got this unit on sale for $118, so for a like $260 total I'm all set and I saved myself from a potential all-day headache. I have really only grinded up eggshells so far so I guess I haven't tested it fully, but it does seem fast and powerful. I agree with other reviewers that it isn't super quiet. It might be a little quieter than my last one because that one had a slight rattling sound that came from the drain area. This one doesn't rattle but there is more of a low rumble. It sounds different than any other garbage disposal I have ever heard. It really doesn't bother me. As long as it lasts, doesn't leak and it grinds stuff up, I am happy. MOEN responses on here say that noise levels can vary based on installation conditions. This is reasonable. My unit bumps up against the PVC plumbing portion ever so slightly. It is unavoidable in my situation. So it is probably sending some vibrations through the plumbing which cause the low rumble. Or maybe it's just the way it is. Whatever. No big deal. I'll give it 4 stars because if I give it 5 then there is no room for improvement and people will get lazy. Wear your masks! Socially distance! Flatten the curve! VOTE!

This one was easy to install and was quieter than the old one.

I have always used In-Sink-Erator disposals, usually 3 / 4 HP. I decided to give Moen a try because it is slimmer and I was installing the disposal in a large one basin sink with the drain offset towards the right side.In retrospect the In-Sink-Erator would have fit and the Meon seems a whole lot nosier.

The item installed very easily. We went from a waste King 3200 to this. Similar motor size, but the Moen is a lot quieter. Also there is less vibration as well. The Moen drains better to. I highly recommend this product

I have changed a few garbage disposals, but this has got to be the easiest install I have ever had. After watching the video, I had the old one removed and new one installed in less than 45 minutes. This Moen is nice and quiet. I am going to put it through its paces soon! So far has met my expectations based on previous reviews and ease of installation--Thanks
