I've put in quite a few grab bars for family & friends over the years and I really like this one the best. The mounting slots on the bar they provide make it SO much easier to get 3 screws into a 2x4 stud. They also have a neat marking pad that comes pre-attached to the bar to "stamp" the hole pattern on the wall, so you can't miss while drilling. Just make sure you read the instructions first as I didn't know about the pad and opened up the clear plastic wrapping around the mounts only to have the "stamp pad" fall off and when I went to pick it up got black all over my fingers. It wiped off, but at first I thought it was permanent marker, but it's not, it just wipes right off. I also like the style of these grab bars, they look stylish and don't look institutional or industrial as many others do. The bars also have a nice flattened rubber grab area on the back, so they are not as slippery as a plain round bar and give a lot of confidence while grabbing onto it. (see Pic) It also makes it easier to grab for folks with smaller hands than the usual full round bars. The kit comes with mounting screws, washers, 2 extra set screws & an Allen wrench. You may need other hardware if you can't find the studs where you want to mount the bar (see instructions). A stud finder is very helpful if you have access to one. If you are planning a bathroom, have the builder put in 2x8 or 2x10 blocking around the tub or shower ahead of time which will make mounting the bars so much easier. The instructions are in English, French & Spanish with drawings for clarity. If you liked this review please check the feedback box below, thanks! MikeTheReviewer

First off, the Banbury 9 in. x 0.875 in. Bath Grip Grab Bar in chrome has good instructions for mounting (i.e., “Press and Mark”) and is elegant and rather bold looking. It is built very well and has that heavy strong look and exceptional feel. The chrome finish is outstanding as you would expect from Moen. However, you will need to mount the handle on a stud which will be a vertical mount. You will need a stud finder and must get 2 of the 3 screws into the stud for a 250 lbs. rating. The included disks with felt tip back ink inserts are provided to make lining up holes for screws a very easy task. Round disks are provided and they are the size of the bar grip’s - that the screws pass through. Once you press the entire grip – with attached disks – against your wall it leaves three black marks on both ends of the grip on the wall. Simply drill ¼ inch holes where the marks are located and attached handle with screws. You’re done and if you mess up with the marks, wipe off and try again.

The Moen Banbury grab bar is a high polished chrome 1-1/4" round bar that is a classic style. This is not a contemporary design, but rather traditional. The ends have some styling and the wall mounting if flared. I would use the Genta in contemporary styles, and this in country or traditional designed rooms. The product has a feature called "press and mark" that allows you to hold the bar against the wall during installation and it will leave marks where you have to drill the mounting holes. It has an ink pad built in to do this that you dispose of before you mount the bar. I don't like this because it's messy and takes more steps, I just use a level which is not mentioned in the instructions, and a Sharpie marker, works great. This product is made well and very sturdy, can be doubled as a towel bar if you want.

This is a very sturdy and good-looking grab bar in chrome with concealed screws. The ‘Press & Mark’ feature makes installation with the concealed screws much easier. Once installed the feature I like best is the grip pads on the underside of the bar. They make for an ergonomic slip-resistant grip. Functional, attractive, sturdy, and easy to install makes for a good value.

I received the Banbury 18" by 11/2" concealed screw grab bar with the press and mark feature. We ordered the grab bar in brushed nickle and it looks great! The installation was a breeze using a level to make sure that it was straight. The press and mark feature is a major improvement for installing. The grab bar seems super strong and will come in handy.

This is a unique "gimmick" intended to make it "dummy-proof" but the press and mark feature does make installation a few steps easier. I had this grab bar installed in minutes once I removed the shrink wrap, located my studs and choose my location. I took the protective caps off, centered the grab bar and pressed inward. Once pulled away, I had all the locations marked and ready to be pre-drilled. The bar is good quality, durable and stylish. My big turn off was that the screws and instructions were hidden in the lower flaps of the box and it wasn't until I had to dig thru my garbage, that I realized I had thrown out the screws and instruction. The instructions are three pages long and not really needed, if you read the box.

Banbury Collection by Moen. Polished Chrome 18” Grab Bar with new design feature specifically for the DIY’er called Press & Mark. Great feature that really helps to get drill holes matched up on both ends. This ADA compliant bar is rated at 500 lbs and made with corrosion resistant stainless steel. I really like the hidden rubber grip on bottom side of bar for superior grip. Having said all, I’m disappointed in the overall quality and feel of bar. It should be more solid, and has plastic end caps to cover screws. It comes with 6 good screws for install in wood studs but doesn’t come with secure mount anchors for hollow wall install. You need to supply these yourself (another trip to the store) on hollow wall as it’s hard to hit wall studs on both ends and still have optimal placement. If you can hit both end studs great but you must have at least one screw on each end in the wall stud for rated strength.

We needed a short grip bar for a narrow location. The 9-inch bar is perfect! VERY heavy duty and solid. Installation is so much easier with the press and mark feature. No more measuring or trying to line up a paper template. The Grab bar is attractive, looks expensive, and is very stylish. Our home is a late 1800's Victorian Gothic, so modern towel bars and accessories (like grab bars) look out of place. The Banbury style is a good fit.
