Two in one year
I bought my first Makita Multi cutter about a year ago and used it to cut up cardboard boxes. It failed in about 6 months. I had used it hard so I figured I had used it too hard. My bad. So I purchased a second unit. This time I babied it. But a full charge it is only good for about two boxes. It routinely stalls on light cardboard like shoe boxes almost no matter how slow and deliberate I am. This afternoon after it had charged all night it was unable to make it through the cardboard packaging of a Coca Cola twelve pack. I threw the cutter in the the trash with the Coke package which I easily tore by hand.

I purchased this product hoping to find something that would replace my Skil cutter that worked fantastic but crapped out from heavy use over time. Unfortunately, this Makita multi-cutter does NOT come close to the Skil as it bogs down quickly when cutting through thick cardboard or multi-pieces of cardboard. I really wish I tried the Worx Zip Snip cutter first as I'll be buying it soon as a replacement to the Makita.
