By far the quietest of all oil impulse, hydraulic impact drivers. Only downside is lack of power, it will still drive in quarter inch lag bolts it just takes a little longer, it's not designed for that, this impact is designed for smaller applications. Furniture assembly, maintenance, the only con is that this tool was designed in 2016, Makita should have updated the model, their new batteries have battery meters, this tool still has a battery meter on the tool itself which means it was produced before the new battery design. The different settings are very helpful, it will drive any 1" to 2" drywall screws into spruce 2x4s completely flush without caming out and it will stop itself before it drives too deep. It was not designed to drive lag bolts, if you want the quietest impact driver and do not require a lot of torque, this is the perfect solution. If you're looking for the quietest hydraulic impact with the most torque and do not mind bulk, I would suggest the rigid stealth Force, one of the only impact drivers that will compete with the Milwaukee fuel gen 3 but again it is very bulky.

I owned one of these when they first came out and loved it. But I got soft and gave it to my son. Even though I own 2 other Makita “hard” impact drivers, I missed this one for its finesse and quite running. NEVER been disappointed with a Makita tool. Still using Li-ion batteries from when they first came out. Can’t say that about red or yellow tools.

These are SOO much more pleasant to use than a regular impact. And now I can tell building managers to pi$$ off when they say “no impact drivers, rargh, noisy, huff, puff, complaints, grumble, grumble.”

Lightweight and quiet

Makita has yet to let me down. I use my impact at work 90% of the day and I gotta say, this thing is great. Noise reduction tion,sensing when your screw is about to reach limit torq..... Ut also looks nice. Co workers can't stop asking to use it for a bit.

The impact is much quieter than my others. With easily as much power. It’s completely worth the extra money. Wish I’d bought one sooner

Took me a while to get used to choosing the speed to go with the job but I sure like it now. Great for smaller projects like cabinet assembly. Clients have even commented that the kids aren't afraid of the noise level of the oil impact. Still use my standard impact for 2x material cuz it's faster.

Very quiet. 1/4" dia, 5" len lag screws drive just as fast as ordinary impacts. Tek screw mode works great but not when driving in thick gauge metal. I used mode 3 for thicker steel. For underground or indoor, this impact is a must-have. We have every brand and this tool is the most respected.

Works great and really a totally different experience than you typical impact driver. If you a considering this I feel like it is definatly worth it. Seems just a strong a the regular makita impact i had but the overall rpm is very slightly slower with no load but when you drying a screw the soft impact is actually faster and the tip down not jump out of the head of the screw as bad

The oil-impulse drill works great and I like it's features. I really like how much quieter the drill is. Its a good choice for any serviceman or installer. I know that if i had people working on my house, I'd prefer them to have a less noisy tool. I was thinking the adjustable light meant that you could turn it on constantly but it just makes the drill light up or not light up after the trigger is pulled. I would rather have the option to keep it on constantly. Even so, this is the best impact I have used.

The drill is extremely superb! I love it. Very quite and strong. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the forward and reverse button seems to get in the way sometimes when screwing things. U accidentally switch it without wanting to. But overall I LOVE THE GUN!!

Great tool. Has a different, more controlled feel that a normal impact. Expensive but seems to be worth it.

I bought the tool for my son in law to use at work as his original Makita impact driver wore out. He has told me he can't imagine using anything but the oil impulse one now.

I have had this impulse driver since it came out back in early 2015 I believe. However, I have not used it much until last weekend (10/2017). Essentially I was building an A-frame for some granite that I was fabricating to install later and started off with a regular impact drIver. This was around 9:30 at night and while legally I can make noise, I didn't want to make neighbors mad. Eventually I switched over to the impulse drive and it finally hit me how quite this thing is. I could hardly hear me driving so I'm pretty sure neighbors could not. I never thought it was all that much quieter but this situation put it into context. Besides the low noise factor, I was driving screws like I had a nail gun in my hand. Fantastic impact.

Poweful and super quiet compared to other drivers. We have been using Dewalt and Makita drivers for years and this is by far the quietest driver we have used.

This drill is so much smoother than any other impact I've ever owned! It's speed controllable so that's always a nice feature, so no more heads breaking off of screws. Also it's quieter. It's still strong as any other impact I've used, just all around better.
