The battery / charger starter kit is a great launch point into the Makita 18v cordless tool platform. These 4 AH batteries have plenty of power to run a drill or impact driver all day and provide adequate runtime for some of the higher demand tools like a circular saw or even the 10” chainsaw. The fan cooled charger provides good charge times for the batteries as well, keeping them in the best operating temp range. The canvas carrying case is a nice added bonus and is a good size to carry a tool or two along with some accessories.

This is a review of the Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 4.0 Ah Battery and Rapid Optimum Charger Starter Pack. This is a nice kit, since I have another kit that requires more batteries than come in the kit. Another charger is going to come in handy too. This charger works pretty quickly. I was a bit surprised by the internal fan of the charger, as my other brands don't have that. The LXT batteries are nice, since they have some great run time. This kit came with a bag. Not really sure why.

This is a great starter pack or an addition to your supply of Makita batteries and chargers. The kit comes with a nice storage bag to keep them clean and helps to keep them organized for easy travel too. The batteries will work with any of the Makita LXT 18v tools and there's a lot of them.The charger works with any of the 18v LXT batteries. With this combination, it takes 30 minutes to recharge each battery. The charger is fan cooled and allows the batteries to be charged fast and at their top performance. The design makes swapping batteries easy and fast, yet firmly locked into place. Extra batteries and a charger are always great to have around. I'll even use these in my chainsaw.
