Just bought the edge trimmer, articulating hedge trimmer attachment, chain saw attachment along with the extension. With the articulating hedge trimmer with the 2 batteries installed the entire unit must weight close to 30lbs. Raising the unit up and down along the side of my hedge bush wear you out in a few minutes. On top of that, when you install the extension and try lifting the entire unit to get to the tops of my hedge, is first a balancing act and in less than a minute your fatigued out. With the extension, when you try and lift over your head, it’s like trying to lift 50lbs. This system is too heavy. Even those people that are well built, will experience the fatigue after a few minutes like myself.
Makita needs to design something that is more practical for everyday life. The unit being strong, long lasting and all is good. But what good is it if you can’t use it? The entire system, motor, extension and articulating saw should weigh in at 15lbs or less to be manageable by everyone. I just spent over $1300 for the entire system and regret it as it is too heavy to manage. I would like to see makita make a video of a person using this system, 2 battery body, extension and articulating hedge trimmer, trimming the top and side of a 10’ hedge 40’ long.

I couldn't get other attachments to fit the motor. This trimmer uses fairly thin line that gets used up rather fast. For what you're buying it's pretty expensive. The motor is good, attachment seems overpriced for what you get.

I also purchased the extension 10" chain saw attachment. I have not been able to get the chain saw saw to work. The power head runs apparently normally, but whenever the saw chain contacts even the smallest twig, the power head shuts down and the 'overload' warning activates. I have several other Makita tools, including an electric chain saw, and love all of them. This one has been a disappointing surprise. It's likely going back.
