Great Batteries that Last a Long Time
I am impressed with how long these 5ah batteries last. If you only have these two you will be able to charge one full before the other ones needs charging.

Took my business to the next level!
For too long, I thought cord-less meant less-power. Let's get something straight... this has HEAPS of power, probably more than you will need. While there was a point in this technology's history where the runtime just could not measure up to its corded brethren, those times are long behind us. Of course, you don't get the unlimited runtime of corded, but do get something even more important; MANEUVERABILITY. It's a larger upfront investment, but it is just that; an investment! You'll be more productive, and that means more happiness! In the long run, you'll be glad you joined the Makita platform. This saw is smooth as all heck. I mean, like butter. 2X and plywood get eaten for breakfast. It's easy to keep straight and to be honest, I hardly use my track guide for ripping anymore unless it needs to be dead-square. A steady hand and the willingness to let the tool do the work will result in a fantastic product. She is square and true and easy to use. The battery placement is perfectly weighted, and while it does have heft, it's balanced and intentional. To address the blade guard issue, it will get stuck if your depth setting is incorrect or your base isn't flush to the material. I've come to accept it's a safety feature. You shouldn't be cutting through 3/4 inch material with a blade depth set to 1 1/2 inches. It isn't safe, and it will result in a poor finished product. As far as runtime, with the included blade, you're going to get improved performance. Even the 24T provides a really smooth finish that will be fine for most applications. I, however, swapped it out for a Diablo 60T Ultra finishing blade because I mostly build cabinets and do custom carpentry. I can't attest to the company's claims of 600 2x4 cuts and 300 2x10 cuts per set of 5aH batteries as I mostly cut 3/4" plywood, but I can work consistently for 10 hours and only use 1 1/2 sets of 5 aH batteries. You'll definitely make it through any typical day of use without running out of juice with 4 5.0 aH batteries. Just do it. Even when it's not on sale, it's completely worth it! You'll regret not doing it sooner once you see the world of opportunity it opens up!

There are so many great features to this 18-volt lithium-ion cordless circ. saw from Makita, I don't know where to start. But here goes. I'm not a construction pro -- I'm a female homeowner who loves D-I-Y projects, and a lefthander, which often effects my power tool choice. I've been making the switch over to all cordless tools for the past few years, and when I saw this Makita was available, I jumped at the chance to try it out. First off, I appreciate that Makita is putting an emphasis on making their tools compact and lighter in weight, and yet still making lasting power a priority. I had no problems operating any of the adjustment levers on the saw, and found the markings & labeling easy-to-read and handy. It took less than a minute to change out the blade, the task made faster & easier with the on-board allen wrench. Depth-of-cut was super easy to set, as was angle of cuts. After an initial charge, the powerful LXT batteries lasted throughout my testing, and still have plenty of charge -- very impressive, given the batteries aren't all that big. Makita's added a handy battery indicator so you can keep tabs on remaining charge. As a leftie, I had no problems operating this saw and still being able to watch my cut -- something righties always take for granted, but a definite issue for lefthanders with some tool brands. The weight & blance were good, and I didn't experience any hand or arm fatigue. The only issue I had with this Makita saw: a machine screw used for attaching the dust nozzle was missing, and vendor never sent a replacement -- something that shouldn't happen with a tool in this price range (hint hint, Makita). But I was able to find a suitable replacement at home, so it didn't impact my overall rating. An excellent, well-built circular saw with more than ample cordless power... I highly recommend this offering from Makita.

      The usual Makita quality...
This circular is powerful, smooth, and accurate. This is my second Makita circular saw. I got it in a kit special with the rapid dual charger, and 4 batteries. It comes with a big soft case, and a dust port. The saw has excellent controls. There is an LED that turns on when you squeeze the trigger. It illuminates the work area and this is visible even from the left side. There is a power indicator for the 2 batteries on the top of the saw body to check the status of the batteries, because the ones on the batteries are not visible when installed in the saw. The shoe, guard and sliding cover are magnesium. There is a selector with presets at 22.5, 45 and 56 degree bevels. There is a set screw in the shoe to adjust the 90 degree position. The only minor issue I found is a small amount of play in the shoe hinge at the front. I minimized this with a thin washer between the parts. This saw cuts through 2 by 4s like butter. Great saw!

This is a great circular saw. Even with dual 18v Li-on batteries it isn't too heavy to wield with one arm. Plenty of power and it lasts on my worksite for a couple of days without the need to recharge. The cut is smooth and it is very easy to change the angle and depth. I've had it less than a month. This makita saw is a substantial cordless saw. I also have a milwaukee saw which is much lighter but it only has one battery vs this saw that takes two. The kit comes with a bag and a two battery charger. The charger is pretty big but has to be to fit both batteries. I thought it was comfortable to hold and its easy to see the blade when making a cut.

I liked this saw enough to add another battery tech to my current platform. As far as cordless tools go, I have A LOT of them, and they are of the same red brand so I can share batteries and chargers between them. However I've never been that impressed with a cordless circular saw until I used this one. Even though I now have another type of battery to deal with and charger to lug around, I think it's worth it. This saw is every bit as powerful as my corded sidewinder. It can't quite match my Mag 77, but not many things can. I really like that the motor adjusts speed and torque application based on what I'm cutting and feed rate. This makes it very smooth and predictable. I also really like the electric brake so I don't need to wait for the saw to spin down to drop it, and the XPT tech means I can finish those last couple of cuts in the rain without worrying about damaging the saw. The charger provided in the kit actually charges both batteries at once; not one at a time like many other dual chargers do. The soft case is a welcomed addition over blow molded plastic and I will actually use it. Another thing I really like is the arbor nut. It takes a standard wrench like other circular saws, but also has a key. Makita included a hex wrench stored securely in the body of the saw instead of the wrench that goes in the foot of the saw and gets lost like all my other saws. Very well designed and honestly this is going to make me consider more Makita tools when looking for future cordless additions

Lots of feature, overload protection, overheat protection, over battery discharge protection and automatic speed change/high torque mode function to name a few. Seems to have very good torque. There’s a remaining battery indicator light built into the saw handle, as well as the batteries having a remaining charge lights built into them. It’s easy to set your depth of cut with adjustment level. Positive angle stops for 22.5, 45 & 56. It comes with a plastic dust nozzle so you can attach your shop vacuum. Batteries are going to take about 45 minutes to recharge. To change the blade they have built the hex wrench into the base, it’s a fits snug and should come out. It comes with Makita’s B-61656, 7-1/4" 24T Carbide-Tipped Max Efficiency Circular Saw Blade for framing. It beats having to lug around an extension cords. I purchased now because at the time of this writing, they’re offering $100.00 off.

This is one nice saw! Not being confident about the power of a cordless circular saw compared to a corded made me somewhat hesitant about getting one. This Makita 36 volt has proven to me that there was absolutely nothing to be concerned about. After charging up the 2 batteries and reading the manual, I gathered up some scrap lumber and started cutting. This Makita went through plywood, hardwood, particle board and 2 x 4's like a knife through butter. Very pleased not only with the way it cuts, but also with the quick and easy adjustments to change the cutting depth and do a bevel cut. Even after making a substantial number of cuts, the battery indicators were still showing 'fully charged'. I think my old corded Craftsman saw is ready for retirement. As for the large Makita bag that everything fits neatly in, the bag is higher quality than the expensive carry-on luggage that I have.

What a workhorse! This saw really performs. Two 18 volt batteries power this saw. Because if this, it is a little on the heavy side when thinking about the overall weight of the unit. While working on a project, this saw did not disappoint. It plowed through rough cut 2x4’s without hesitation. I am a Mikita fan from way back. I have a older rear mount worm drive saw. It will take a little getting used to this saw. The motor is on the left side so when I cut, I need to look over the saw to view the cut. Not a big deal. Folks have been doing this for years. It’s just a change from my point of view. Bevel cuts are simple. A quick adjustment. It also has 3 different predetermined angle stops. An electric brake adds to the safety of the saw. So many times I have a honey-do project that just needs a couple cuts. This is easy to take out and get to work. No more looking for that extension cord that your teenage son lent to the neighbor. Battery power = simple. I love this saw and would recommend it to a friend.

I'll start out saying that I will give this saw a good, long life. I really like this one. Many more pros than cons. First and foremost is that it's cordless. If I need 1 or 2 quick cuts, I don't need an extension cord. That's huge. The auto adjusting speed really works. Watch and listen to my video. You'll hear the fast speed through 3/8 plywood then it slows down but delivers high torque for the 2 x 8. That's fantastic. The forward handle has a good padded grip that won't slip. I like the Allen wrench that came with it and has it's own storage place. Pretty handy. There is a built in battery life indicator on the saw and on each battery. No more crossing your fingers that the charge will finish the job. The battery life is fantastic too. The addition of a white depth indicator with a bright orange pointer is great. It'll get you in the ballpark easily. It is not as heavy as I expected. It actually weighs less than my DeWalt or Makita corded saws. The bevel indicator has at positive stops at 22.5, 45, and 56. Great concept but the indicator and the bevel switch don't always coincide. I like it but I still double check the bevel instead of trusting it. Here's what I wasn't crazy about. The dust collector and blade guard handle are both plastic. Seem to be brittle.I don't see them lasting very long. The batteries have a smooth finish. It would be much better it they had some type of grip to them. Even putting a few groves into it would be a huge improvement. I lowered the deck completely to have max access but they were still slippery, especially when I'm sweaty. Overall, I highly recommend this saw

Got these on clearance. Perfect size and run time. They are the same size as the 3.0Ah ones but with a longer run time. Note: They will not work with older Makita tools that don't have the star on the battery receiver or yellow receiver and don't support the safety features of the newer batteries. Check the notches. Will not work with the bigger notch.

I had the 2.0ah that came with the drill which did great. But these are amazing. I have yet to have a project that I have ran these 5ah to even half. I wish I would have bought them a long time ago. I love the push bottom power indicator. The 5ah are only 1/2 longer than the 2ah batteries and the weight difference is minimal.

I needed to buy new batteries to complete a deck project after my last original 3.0Ah battery died (after 12-13 years), and swapping around the one 4.0Ah battery I had really slowed things down ("Are you done with the battery yet? OK. Throw it over to me.") The fuel gauge is pretty nice after all the years of not knowing how close you were to a dead battery. And the capacity is pretty amazing. I used the packs for hours of screwing or drilling into pressure-treated lumber, and rarely got to half power. The only thing that challenged the batteries was the circular saw; cutting through a very wet, pressure-treated 2x12, cutting stair stringers. 12 feet took 3 batteries (almost with 2).

Long lasting battery. Used it to power a random orbital sander for 30 minutes, almost continuously. Still had 2 bars. Plugged it in the reciprocating saw to remove a door. Still showed 2 bars. They also last a while on the circular saw. With (2) 3Ah, (1) 4Ah, (2) 5Ah batteries & two chargers, I have enough batteries for all day, powering drill, impact driver, recip saw, circular saw, RO sander, and grinder. The battery level indicator is handy, but Makita should put them on the same side as the release button. As it is, when you plug the battery in, you can't check the battery level without first removing it.
