It fit my Bosch angle grinder well HOWEVER I made this purchase because the Makita dust shroud was “Frequently Purchased Along With” the Diamabrush abrasive wheel to strip paint from my deck. Sadly, the Makita dust shroud is far too shallow to enclose the rather deep Diamabrush so the set-up fails.

Worked well, except the front part of the shroud kept falling off as I moved the grinder next to the ground. Also my vacuum hose was too loose for the shroud's dust exhaust. Had to cut a piece of rubber, wedge it in, and clamp it.

DO NOT buy this shroud. I have the Makita 4.5 angle grinder and Makita Diamond Cup and I'm using it to remove thinset from concrete. I'm a DIY and for the life of me I can't get the shroud level or functioning so that dust doesn't goes everywhere. I suggest buying a universal shroud that has a bigger overlap.I had to make this shroud work for me by moving the suction port to the top of the grinder and using painters tap around the shroud to retain dust. Good luck

I bought this product because I made a mess of my basement while using my angle grinder with a diamond cup wheel without any dust collection while knocking off the high spots created at the joints of the concrete forms when the basement walls were poured. The angle grinder/cup wheel generated so much dust that I could barely see what I was grinding. I vowed I'd not grind concrete again without some sort of shroud. After looking at the options, this Makita seemed most likely to fit my Makita angle grinder and that it would do the best job of containing the dust. After using the shroud the first time (connected to a small shop vacuum), it exceeded all my expectations of how much dust it would collect. I could barely detect any dust in the air at all, and with a window open and a fan blowing out the window, there wasn't any dust at all in the air that I could see, even when backlit. The shroud easily fit onto the Makita angle grinder just like the original factory protector that came with it for use with an abrasive cutoff wheel. The surface grinding shroud is spring-loaded so it self-adjusts to keep the bristles around the circumference of the shroud against the surface you're grinding as long as you keep the cup wheel (or flap wheel) flat against the surface. This was the best $37 I've ever spent.

Works just as purported. You will have to clean your vacuum filters often. Standard vacuum hoses slip on and attach with no need for clamps etc. I suggest using a Makita brand diamond wheel with this shroud. Well with the money.

Dust port outlet is an odd size. Will not accept any standard vacuum hose sizes. Probably need to purchase additional attachments from Makita. Very dissatisfied with product.i was not able to use, had to buy different universal brand that worked perfectly.

Great for grinding down tile mortar.
Captures almost all the dust from grinding down tile mortar. would be better if dust port was bigger

        Grinder shroud (Makita)
I bought this to do some floor grinding. I did not realize it would not fit on my Bosch grinder. Be sure to check for compatability before purchasing. Luckily after some slight modification it fit on my Kawasaki grinder. It works well and seems well build.

Keeps down dust when grinding concrete and paint floors
The Makita 4-1/2 in. Dust Collecting Wheel Guard is a shroud covering to contain primarily concrete and paint dust from floor grinding which can be a problem. It gets everywhere and is unhealthy to inhale besides. The wheel guard is tough plastic which I'd say is made of ABS plastic. It has a metal spring and plate mechanism to hold the guard down to the floor. The spring could have been longer to allow for more travel with different wheels. The cover uses a cup wheel and some are deeper than others. Its compact and smaller than I expected and others I've seen. A section of the front plastic cover can be removed to get up close to walls with the wheel. The cover has an interesting locking mechanism with a sliding lock. Around the perimeter of the guard is a small brush strip to keep the dust in the guard and out the vacuum exhaust port. The exhaust port is small and fits loosely my 1 1/4” vacuum fitting. The guard does a good job corralling dust if kept up against the floor. The dust is very fine so watch it doesn't burn out your shop vac motor, clean the filter often and duct tape the port if needed. It does a fine job for its special use of trapping dust.

        OOP'S... Not What I Thought
I needed to cut some drainage grooves in concrete. I have a Makita 9557NB 41/2" grinder with several types of wheels. I have been putting this off knowing that it will create so much dust that it could cause a Nuclear Winter. When I saw this item I thought perfect, I have the grinder and lot's of grinding wheels. Well not so fast , in reading the manual , the first thing that caught my eye was you need to use a Diamond "cup" wheel and the collector is only designed to use parallel to the working surface. No. 1 the blade is anywhere from 35-55 dollars. No. 2 I think the description should have been a little clearer and at least used the word "horizontal" dust collecting wheel. You have to use a 'cup" wheel because a flat wheel would scrape on the collector, some call this a "depressed" center, but technically "cup" versus "depressed" is different . So just to see if it would work I took a depressed center wheel and a combination of flat and lock washers to build up the wheel just enough so it would not hit the collector. Found a broken concrete block that still had enough of a flat surface for testing. Hooked up the grinder and my shop vac and ...... yes as long as you keep the dust cover horizontal you will contain the dust enough for the shop vac to catch it. I didn't do this to long just enough to see if it worked, why waste a good wheel, I gave the ratings I did because the tool does what it was designed to do and the fact that it doesn't do what I thought it would do is not the tools fault.
