Let Down Makita big bore 5200
It’s pretty irritating when you pay nearly $500 for a boxed brand new compressor bring it home only to see damage right away. I called Home Depot, put on hold for 10 minutes only to explain my situation to someone who couldn’t understand what my problem was because of a language barrier . After a harrowing addition 10 minutes we had a breakthrough and she said to bring it back for a refund. Fair enough. Only thing is , its a distance for me and a huge pain. Let down

      Great recovery time
Picked this up as my old one crapped out in the middle of a job. The recovery is lightning fast. Pretty quiet too. I also like that the handle folds down and yiu dont have to remove the air hose 1st. Folds down on the hose and holds it securely.

      Been working gteat for years.
I've had this product many years and it hasn't gave me any problems. I had flat tires and couldn't find a service station with a working compressor during this cold spell. I dug out mine from the garage to warm up and quickly pumped up my tires. Obviously it is used for real work but most appreciate today.

I was liking this compressor until freezing weather hit. I went to use it and its circuit breaker had tripped. I reset it and the motor spun slightly, then locked. I figured it might be due to temperature, 21°F. I waited until a thaw, 34°, reset the breaker, and it started up. I thought maybe it had water in the tank, but when I opened the valve, it was bone dry. I have only had this since it was delivered Dec. 7, 2019, and today is Jan 23, 2020. I would like someone to explain this to me, I know it's hard on a motor to lock and trip it's breaker. And yes, I did add the oil before startup.

I'm a contractor. My cheaper Porter Cable died and I bought this. Yesterday I ran an air chisel to demo tile and I never had to wait for enough air to run the chisel. It is heavy but high quality. Great tool and Makita is quality.

Makita makes a very solid air compressor. Everything about this machine is better than any of the other brands even down to the tires! It is relatively quiet. The tank fills quickly. All of the controls are easy to operate. It is heavy but the handle and wheels are built to last so moving it is not a problem.

          HEAVY duty
I decided to replace my old bostitch oil free pancake with this oiled compressor after abusing it for ten years installing hardwood flooring for a living. After installing a 50'x50' room in two days with only two installers which = 2 nailers, the ol' pancake couldnt keep pace and gave out. So i wanted to get a compressor that could handle at least two staplers/nailers at the same time without constant loading. I purchased this in february, and have been using it almost daily with it cycling maybe 30 times a day. I dont have to stop nailing because when the motor kicks in it can fill up quicker than two nailers each nailing maybe 1.5 times per second. While the oil less pancake is sharply loud, the makita is still pretty loud, but soft. Best way to explain is that the bostitch oil less pancake's noise level is if you put your radio up very high with the treble all the way up and bass in the middle, while the makita oiled compressor is like a radio up high with the bass up and treble down. The weight as indicated on the specs is on the heavy side. I have to load this thing in my van at the end of the day, and i am seriously considering making a small ramp or a way to leverage it up. Its definitely noticeably heavier than any 6gallon oil less pancake, and after 1/2 a year of loading/unloading this in my van has become an annoyance. However, after lifting it for loading/unloading, the handles and wheels make it easier to move around than a pancake. The wheels are large enough to gingerly go up steps, one step at a time, and after practicing, going down steps without scratching or marring wooden steps, by a single person without having to lift it off the ground. My only concern is the amount of condensation that comes out from the tank valve at the end of the day. On average i get maybe 1 tablespoon of a brown oily liquid a day, and am concerned about why it is so brown (like a mud puddle), and of any potential damage it will have for the years ahead. This is my first oiled compressor, and there really isnt much more maintenance compared to an oil less. Besides keeping an eye on the oil, emptying the tank from liquids should be done for any compressor at the end of the day.

Excellent Value in a Compact Compressor
I bought this primarily to operate a plasma cutter that needed about 5cfm at 60 psi. It is working very nicely. The cutter always has plenty of air helping to make my cuts efficient and quick. It has a roomy storage compartment for all those necessary compressor parts such as quick connects, an easily accessible drain valve, and lots of hose storage. I like that it's oil lubricated and although it's kind of loud it has a deep, throaty sound rather than the high pitched whine you get with oil-free units -- it's just easier on my ears and not so aggravating. The tires are substantial and I like that you can pick it up at the front or back to roll it around. I did a lot of shopping but couldn't find another compressor that delivered almost the same amount of cfm at 90psi as at 40psi and that had a compact tank. So far, I'm very pleased.

              Makita MAC5200
Ordered Air Compressor on the 25th of September, Arrived on the 2nd of October in great condition, unboxed and added the supplied oil, opened the tank drain valve and plugged it in for 30 minutes. Upon closing the drain valve the compressor built up to the kick-off pressure of 140psi on less then one minute. Awesome Compressor, Highest CFM rated compressor @ 90 psi for its size and weight. I bought this unit to supply air for my Miller 625 Spectrum Extreme Plasma torch when working in doors at remote locations ie.(inside the Malls) the compressor seems evenly balanced for picking up to load on a tail gate or deck.

Compressor works great ...gets to full cut-out pressure very quickly, runs smooth and quiet, and has very good pressure release valve ...excellent small compressor.

              Works great, looks great
This is working great so far. The only thing I would like is if it had a little bigger tank for more reserve air. If you are using it much it has to cycle often but it does pump up fast.

DAMAGED AT FACTORY & A NIGHTMARE TO RETURN!
The compressor arrived with both a damaged wheel hub and a factory inserted cross-threaded oil cap. Of the 2 issues the cross-threading was the show stopper: it had scored the powder coat paint lining of the oil reservoir hole and many little flakes of paint where present. While I could live with the damaged wheel I didn't think that the little paint chips and possible plastic chips from the oil cap itself would be a value added addition to the cylinder seals and I foresaw a much shorted life span accordingly. A call to Makita proved upsetting as they asked that I "blame the shipper!" So much for the legendary Makita quality control ethic! I'm going to give the DeWalt D55146 4.5-Gal compressor a shot.

So far it is excellent. It arrived promptly in an undamaged condition. Set up was very easy, and it operated perfectly with the expected on and off pressures. (The gauge registers 5 lbs high on both actions, but that is acceptable.). I have only used it three times but no problems so far.

My door bell was never rung advising me the air compressor was delivered, it was was left bin my drive way. My neighbor contacted me and said there was a extra large cotton in my drive way. I suggest that HOMEDEPOT uses a more responsible carrier.

Exceptional machine. Easy to move, plenty of power. Storage compartment on top for gauges, and accessories is nice, even padded so your tools don’t rattle when it hums along. Very pleased. I have yet to be disappointed with Makita, super high quality. Great purchase.

                Faulty product
This is not a well built product. It ran fine for the break in period but that’s about all.Sometimes it wouldn’t start and sometimes it did. Sometimes it ran strong and others it sounded like it was struggling. When it would get up to pressure it would not auto start when the pressure dropped. I expected a product that would last many years but it didn’t even last for a full hour. I tried numerous power sources thinking that was the issue. Nope. Don’t bother with this product.

                  Nice Compressor bad cart
For some reason it was designed very off balance and difficult to control when wheeling it from the trailer. The weight is very poorly distributed, with the weight of the compressor fighting against the design of the cart. As a contractor I was so impressed with the compressor and features that I purchased it. But unfortunately the utter balance failure on the cart makes it a disaster. If they simply moved the compressor closer to the wheels and made it a bit more compact it would be perfect.

Unit failed after 3rd, use but!
The first one I bought the Unit failed after the 3rd use, brought it back to the store, told customer support some of the bad reviews of this and asked her what should I do. She said it may have been just a bad unit and to try another one, beside you have 90 days to bring it back for refund. This was back on April 3rd, 2024. Today May 10, 2024 done used this several times and so far its still running. This is why I can only rate this 3 stars due to first one failing.

                      Scfm not accurate
Scfm is suppose to be 6.1 @ 90 The tool I use needs a minimum of 5.2 scfm. Unfortunately this was not a very good piece of equipment to add to my service vehicle.

Runs great. Makita customer service, a joke
Compressor runs great. Bought it last July. Put it in storage for the winter and got it back out this past weekend. Plugged it up, let the tank build, and dialed back the regulator to run my brad nailer. First turn of the regulator knob, thing shoots off across the patio. I thought, well maybe I turned it too far. Nope... cast aluminum regulator threads are gone. Stripped beyond recognition. Called customer service just for the lady to tell me I have to pay shipping to send it back and hang up.

Too loud and can't keep up under load
Compressor is extremely loud! As in I can't have it indoors while running. And it won't run 2 bradnailers at the same time. Doesn't keep up.I will probably return it.

                          HD description is incorrect CFM.
Manufacturer states 6.5CFM @ 90PSI. Home Depot add states 2CFM. This is a quality product that works well.
