Very powerful and oem chain is the best one I've ever got with a saw. I ordered two skip chains also to cut a 38" round ash and the makita put the other guys 455 rancher to shame, revs faster, with very little bogging compared to the 455 (both saws running 20" bar and new Oregon skip chains)

Purchased to replace my Stihl MS271 and Husq 55 Ranch for falling as needed and bucking fire wood (12 cord year average). This saw is in line with the Husq as my Stihl is 5 cc lighter (no comparison, this Makita way out performs it). Out of the box the saw is a shredder, easily performs as well or better than the Rancher. Chain tension-er on my purchase is fine. Not at all disappointed. This is a short term review, yet to see the test of time.

Easy to assemble, just put the blade and chain on. Very easy start. I was warned about the big chainsaws being heavy and cause you to tire faster so this came as no surprise. Sucker flew through good size trees like butter, often catching me by surprise and almost over shooting the hinge in my cut. Take your time and let it do the work for you. After doing a lot of research on chainsaws I was finding that Makita had some of the best price to power ratios out there and and it showed while using it. I'm loving it!

Makita saws are made by Dolmar in Germany. Quality and performance on par with Stihl and Husqvarna. If treated well these saws should last someone a lifetime.

This is an awesome saw! Tons of power. Rips it’s way through 2 year seasoned 36” white oak trunk wood without hesitation. Cranks on the second pull cold, first pull hot. I have 2 Stihl MS290s and they are anemic compared to this saw, plus they are a pain to get started despite meticulous care.

This is a great saw especially for the price point. It is a plastic clamshell design with the crankcase between. I replaced the stock chain with an Oregon chisel chain. Strong running saw. I ran mine side by side with a 455 husqvarna and would average 1-1/2 cuts to the 455's one.
