I was a little skeptical how well the biometrics would work, but it is flawless. Whilst my motivation for using a biometric lock was to eliminate the need for remembering my key, what I discovered I like maybe even more is just how easy it is to unlock. Just press my thumb against the sensor, the ring around the sensor lights up green and it is unlocked. No need to fiddle with getting a little key properly aligned into the bottom of the padlock (which can be harder than it should be if I also forgot my glasses). The lock is big, but unless that is an issue for you its not a problem for most spaces. It has a rubber coating which should protect it from the elements, and because there is no opening for a key, you don't have to worry about that portion rusting - which I find is usually where padlocks left outdoors tend to start to form issues. One neat feature - if the battery dies unexpectedly you can use a nine-volt battery to power the lock.

Absolutely love our new Master Lock Model No. 4901DLH Biometric Padlock. It has made getting into our shed in the backyard much, much easier. Now no matter who goes out there to get the lawn mower, hedge trimmer, loppers, etc.... it's super easy to access. Master Lock thought of everything when they designed this lock. It has back up access via the directional keypad that is around the biometric area. If for some reason you can't access the lock via your finger print you can use the preset code that is in the top right corner of your original paperwork to unlock it and reset the lock if necessary. There is also a place on the bottom of the lock to "jump" the lock in the event the internal battery has gone dead. You simply slide off the black cover on the bottom of the lock to expose the two little circles that you hold a 9-volt battery up against and then open it via your fingerprint or using the directional keypad with the master unlock code. Once this is done you can use a coin or a screwdriver to open the battery area and install a new CR2 battery. This lock features a 2-7/32in (56mm) wide metal body for durability. The 11/32in (9mm) diameter shackle offers 2in (51mm) vertical clearance and is made of boron alloy, offering maximum resistance to cutting and sawing. It also comes with a 2-piece weather cover for maximum outdoor protection. The one slight negative on this lock is the width of the shackle. It is quite large (thick) so I couldn't use it on my side gate where I had originally intended to use it. The hole in my side gate latch was to small so I ended up using it on my shed where it works perfectly. Hopefully Master Lock comes out with different sizes of these same locks so you could use it at the gym or any other place you might want quick access. Other then my one small complaint above this lock is amazing and I can't believe how well it works. Master Lock is backing this lock up with a 1 Year Limited Warranty so they are standing behind their product. If you are looking for quick access to any area that needs a lock I would definitely give this lock a try. It is nice not to have to get the key every time I want to get into the shed now.

I have used Master Lock products my entire life because I found them to be of exceptional quality. I ordered this biometric operated Master Lock to secure our outdoor shed. Many times over the years my wife and I found ourselves working outside and needing a tool from the shed. We would have to walk back to the house to the special location where the shed key is stored. After unlocking the shed we would walk the key back to its storage spot in the house to prevent accidently misplacing or losing it. Following delivery of the lock I followed the directions on the package to gain access to the owner's instructions. Following the instructions it took several attempts to release the lock from the packaging using the preset activation code. As the "Primary User" I then followed the directions to input my finger print. Multiple attempts were made without success. I then referred to a video on the Master Lock website. After several viewings I noticed you have less than five seconds after completing Step 3 to begin Step 4 in the 8 step "Fingerprint Setup" process. This five second or less time limit is not mentioned in the directions. After successfully registering my fingerprint I then attempted to register a second fingerprint as recommended by the directions for the "Primary User". I made several attempts over two day but without success. I always received a flashing "Red" light on Step 5 of the 8 step process. I can now open the lock with either the preset code or the one fingerprint the lock would accept. Due to the complexity of all the operating instructions and the preset opening code we decided these instructions needed to be filed in our home safe deposit box. Without these instructions the lock is almost inoperable. As one example, if the battery within the lock failed you would never know the process to follow in order to open the lock. See attached photographs.

This is a very convenient lock to have on my shed that provides for quick access. There’s no key to have to retrieve or combination to remember - just my thumb print is all that’s needed to open it. In fact, I’m going to put another one on my gate. It’s hefty, being about 5.5” in total length with a shackle that’s just shy of 3/8” thick and 2” long. I’ve recorded both of my thumbs and my wife’s into our lock and, then for a backup, I wrote the code for its directional keypad on a regular key tag and hung it on our key rack. It can store a total of ten fingerprints in order to allow for multiple users. Instructions for recording or deleting fingerprints are straightforward and take just a couple of steps. Its CR2 battery should last for over a year and then will give alerts on the keypad when it needs replacing. However, should the battery go dead, it can be jumped with a standard 9V battery. Overall, it’s a quality built, hefty sized padlock with the convenience of fingerprint access that I really do like.

From one of the well known lock companies, Master Lock comes a lock that can eliminate the need to have a physical key with you, all you or the other users need to have is a fingerprint. And alternately you can use a combination of lefts rights ups and downs in the specific order that you choose or you can use the one provided and assigned to your lock from the manufacturer. Programing in the fingerprints was just a bit frustrating until I got the knack of it and realized I needed to move at a faster pace. Fingerprints can be removed and arrow pattern altered if there is a need to revoke anyone's access. Safeguard the backup code in your vault app as it can be changed and if security is an issue such as an employee leaves, if he or she knows the backup, you will need a new lock. Just be sure and read ALL the instructions as setting fingerprints after the first two of the primary user is different in the fact that you use the down arrow button instead of the up arrow button. If the internal CR2 battery ever dies, still no worries as you can jump it with an external 9v battery to open the lock until you get a new CR2. This lock can store up to 8 fingerprints all of the same user or from multiple users, but a total of 8 only. Others can still use the lock using the unique arrow pattern to open the lock if you have multiple users of the same lock. The fingerprint and arrow option work easily and the hardware itself looks and feels as tough as any heavy duty lock. It has a long shackle. Be sure and save and follow the instructions folded up in the little drawer on the back of the package. Programming instructions as well as the activation code and factory set arrow pattern are on that sheet as well. Download the Master Lock Vault to keep a copy of a backup arrow pattern as well as add a note you can customize to say what you want. I put my own arrow code in the note as well as battery type. If needed a location or other info can be added as well

I received this master lock biometric fingerprint lock to use for my outdoor shed that I just built. Set up is pretty straightforward it comes with a unique code in the instructions that help you set up your fingerprints. You can store up to 10 fingerprints and deleting them is pretty easy if something should go wrong. Uses a pretty calm and CR two battery and if for some reason it should die and you need to unlock it to change it you can use a 9 V battery as a jumper

Our outdoor equipment shed is always a busy place this time of year. Between yard equipment. Pool supplies and storage seems like someone is always looking to get into the shed. Our old padlock did ok, but with just two keys it was kind of a pain, plus after years on the shed, it has started to rust. This pad lock not only is made for the outdoors, but it is made to be easy to get into by anyone in the family without having to carry around a key. With it’s ability to handle up to 10 fingerprints it is easy to give anyone who needs to be in there access whenever they need it. With this heavy duty lock, it also keep others out of my shed. We do have a couple small issues with it. One it is very picky about the fingerprint and how you place your finger. My thumb opens the lock first try may 8 out of ten times, my second finger it is more like once out of ten times and my wife it does work occasionally maybe once out of 20 tries. We will try to get hers on there another way to see if we can get those numbers better. The other thing is the rubber cap over the battery compartment, It is hard to get it on straight so it looks right and it already seems loose, thinking after a few months it is just going to fall off and stay off. Not a big deal but at this price point you would hope for better.

I got this, because I love toys! It is easy to use, easy to set-up, and has a combination you can not forget (it is your finger). It is not just a toy, it is a full fledged lock. It has a Boron clasp, and rated '10 Maximum Protection'. If the wrong finger tries too many times, it turns red and is unresponsive for a couple minutes. Unlike some others, this one you can not go through the battery compartment to open it; the battery is separated from the locking mechanism. It gives you safety and it is a conversation piece. That said ... a quality resettable combination lock can functionally achieve what this does in a more compact, much cheaper package. In fact, some things, this makes harder (e.g. a delivery person needs access: with a resettable lock, you change the combo, email it to them, and after they leave change it back) You can add up to 10 finger prints, but if you want to delete one person, you need to delete them all, and then rescan everyone. With bioscanners, I always scan both my indexes and thumbs; which would use 4. That way, no matter what I am carrying, in which hand, or with gloves, I can quickly open them. So, 10 prints, will not be 10 people. It has a manual override; which is a combination of arrow pressing. Just like a combination lock, you will need to keep a copy of it and remember where you put it (I took a pic of mine with my phone). You can also download their app, and store it there. If the App allowed you delete/pause individuals prints, and/or schedule times they could be used, that would be awesome!
