Very solid construction, and smooth operation. Key works on both locks. Fits easily on Dewalt trunk, and is big enough to provide good protection against cutting, yet small enough to fit in predrilled holes and also impede opening the trunk while locked.

Terrible Lock
I bought one of these locks to use as a quick duration bicycle lock coupled with a hardened but light chain. After researching lock safety and usage I noticed that in general Master Locks have an inferior number of pins, no security pins, are easily defeated by numerous means of destructive and non-destructive attacks, and are made of downright garbage metals for a lock application.
This lock, the M1 is no different. I became worried about using this lock for any security applications, so I tried testing it against some common attacks. I filed a small, thin piece of steel into a generic hook shape in an attempt to use it as a pick. Coupled with another piece of steel bent into an L shape, I was able to rake the pins of this lock and open it in 3-4 seconds in a single rake. I was immediately worried. I have never picked a lock before in my life, and with a simple search of "lock picking tool" I was able to make a tool that defeated this lock in seconds!
Not satisfied, I hoped that this was a complete fluke, beginners luck if you will, so I tried again and again. I was wrong. I was able to rake the lock open again in seconds. This made me study the lock even more.
Physically it looks like a superior version of the usual laminated Master Lock designs. Closer inspection proves that initial observation wrong. I was able to completely dismantle this lock with just a pair of Vice-Grip pliers in minutes!
The top and bottom caps appear to be strong, but are in fact very thin sheet metal, possibly not even of a steel base. Taking a cutoff wheel to the end caps produced no sparks. Realizing that it was such flimsy material, I grabbed the end caps with the Vice-Grips and simply peeled them off like you would peel the skin of an orange.
Once I had the bottom cap off, there was an outer sheath that fell loose from the main body. This was also not made of steel, but some much softer material. I could bend it by hand once it was off the main body. This is a deceptive shell, as it makes the lock appear much larger than it actually is. Removing the worthless sheath and end caps make the actual lock body look diminutive.
This also exposes 4 of the 8 soft, non-steel rivets completely. They aren't fully surrounded by holes in the laminated body. I was able to use the Vice-Grips to peel them free from the body, effectively rendering half of the rivets useless. The rivets that hold the laminated plates together are also not made of steel. Again they produced no telltale sparks like steel does. They are incredibly soft, and the Vice-Grip was able to shear their heads off with minimal trouble.
After shearing off 3 of the 4 remaining rivets that are fully captured, I was able to grab the end plate that hold the lock mechanism in, and peel it back with ease. The last rivet gave way easily from the leverage of the end plate bending up. It pulled out like soft taffy. Now with a light tap on my palm the lock mechanism dropped out, followed by the actuator and the two ball bearings completely defeating the lock. The hasp simply fell open!
You can see the carnage in my attached image. Notice all the twisted metal that was the end caps and the end plate, still with the twisted rivets attached.
There are a few pros to this lock, however they are not enough to actually make it a safe lock. No longer do they use spring loaded wedges to catch the hasp, but ball bearings that are locked in place by a rotating barrel. This makes the lock impossible to shim. The hasp appears to actually be some decently hardened steel as well.
The bottom line is DO NOT BUY THIS LOCK to secure anything you care about. When a first-time nobody with a homemade strip of steel tool and a quick search of the internet can defeat it on the first try, you know you have a piece of junk in your possession. Someone could quietly sit and work away on this lock with just pliers and break it open, no smashing, banging, or loud cutting required.
