  • Very strong magnets

We use this to mount a banner on the front of a festival tent. These are very strong, but somewhat fragile. They did a perfect job, but, as the warning says, this is not for children. They are strong enough to cause a nasty pinch if not handled carefully.

Yes and no do I recommend these magnets. Bought these for the purpose of hanging workshop tools. Sadly, these will not hold individual handheld tools. The largest tool was LESS than 1 lb. and the tool just slid off. The smaller tools that weighed less than 1/2 lb. also would not hold to the magnet. (Yes, I actually weighed them on a scale to be sure!) Great magnet if you want to hang small to medium size drill bits or light weight screw drivers, but not for small to medium size wrenches and similar tools that weigh around >1 lb. The website states the magnet has a 6 lb pull force, and the rule of thumb for vertical loss of magnets in a vertical installation is 15-25% of the original pull force. IF these were 6 lb pull force magnets, these should have held some of the tools. This is in no reflection of Home Depot, but the manufacturer and their descriptions of these magnets. Will have to return these and go with another manufacturer that Home Depot carries.

  • Small and strong

I love how strong these little magnets are. And they're wonderfully thin! My only slightly negative observation is that they're very hard to separate from each other, and their thinness adds to that. One must slide them apart rather than try to pull them apart. It helps to slide a thin, rigid object between them. I'm not going to take any stars off the rating for them being amazingly strong, because that's why I bought them!

  • Cheap solution, but NOT 3/4" - slightly smaller

I'm a hobbyist woodworker and have been using rare earth magnets increasingly more in my projects. While these are a great price, Home Depot doesn't offer "systems" like my local woodworking store does. A common installation would include the magnet, mounted in a cup (that's screwed into a mortised hole) and a magnetic washer. When a magnet is mounted in a cup it's said to have four times the magnetic pull than it would alone. I got the cups from another store and immediately noticed that these magnets are not a full 3/4" in diameter. Sure enough, in the store I noticed ".7 inches". I don't think that was anywhere on the packaging - just on the shelf label. While the small gap actually allows my to remove the magnet from the cup, but for a permanent installation on a product that I'm delivering I'd much prefer the perfect fit of an actual 3/4" magnet.

It's working great but I just found it in some bushes in our yard. Not your fault ur the mailman delivered it to the door while we were out of town. We had a big storm and I couldn't find the package. It took way too long to come. That's my only complaint.

Small, but powerful. They are small enough to inset with just drill or router bits which is a real time saver. I have these magnets all over my shop as well to help keep things organized. They are very versatile.
