  • Solved! Masterbuilt 30" Analog Smoker
  • July 30, 2015
  • Recommended Product

Pro's: Temprature is stable and accurate. Smokes good at 225 and above. $159.00 cost Temperature range of 100 degrees up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. No glass window to clean. Tips: Put wood chips in microwave for 2 minutes then add to smoker. Make sure element is touching the chip tray, if not, remove shelf and bend element up slightly till touching. Too add additional chips put handful in heavy duty aluminum foil, fold up and poke 6-8 holes, place right on the element with tongs under water pan and watch her smoke away. Buy a 12/2 ga. 15' extension cord, got this from an electrician improves element efficiency. First I bought the 30" Masterbuilt model 20070411 with the window with remote digital timer. Worked for two hours then turned off, called Masterbuilt customer service, they said don't use extension cord with this unit, and unplug unit for 1 minute and plug back in. Plugged directly in outlet on patio. This time it worked for 1 hour then digital meter started flashing and quit working again. Did smoke good while working. Window is hard to keep clean and is useless. Only goes to 275 degrees. d.s. San Antonio, TX.

I am having a problem getting the wood chips to burn at a temperature low enough not to burn the food in the smoker.

  • Great Electric Smoker!!

This smoker is great for the causal weekend smoker. Lacks a little bit of the flavor of a charcoal smoker but the ease of setting the temp and being able to leave for 12 hours makes up for it. It took me 2 or 3 uses to perfect the temp but once it gets to the temp I wanted it holds that temp almost perfectly. Get the cover for it if you are storing it outside!

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this smoker. It has plenty of room to cook a lot of items at once and it takes very minimal attention during the smoking. I have done chickens, turkeys, sausages and beef brisket......all coming out moist and very tender.

  • Great smoker!

It holds its temperature wonderfully, and the outside doesn't even get scaldingly warm. I have three small kids so that is very important to me.

Was unsure about buying an electric smoker. Read the reviews and decided to take the plunge. First attempt was a little disappointed with the smoke penatration. Need to find a way to get more smoke out of it at low temp. Took awhile to stabalize temp but marked the dial with paint once I got it to 220 and it held there for several hours. Over all, not bad. Beats feeding charcoal every hour.

So far so good, took less than 1/2 hour to unpack, screwed on the legs and handles with a philips screw driver, I immediately wipe down the inside the seasoned the smoker for 3 hours. So far the smoked salmon, whiskey burger and duck has been with a hit with the family. Very easy to operate and was able to get the internal temp up to about 300+ at max setting.

  • Not good quality
  • November 26, 2015

Received the smoker as a gift. Used 5-6 times at most. Temperature rarely rose above 200, thought it was me. Suddenly stopped working one day. The temperature control and plug burnt out. Home depot and master built refused to do anything about it. It now takes up space in my garage.

Wonderful price, free shipping and was on my porch much sooner than expected. Easy assembly that I could do. Made beef brisket Sunday and excellent. Looking forward to making much more in my Masterbuilt smoker. Thanks. Would recommend to purchase. Love Home Depot.
