Freezes quickly but load motor buzz.
Installed Dec 8, 2020. Make sure installer removes the plastic skids, otherwise that is sort of an ordeal and you need deep sockets to reach the 4 bottom bolts. The installation instructions don't mention these at all.
Freezer works quickly. It froze my "cola in cup" quickly. My wife likes it and she appreciated lots of space. She was tired of reaching down into the chest freezer.
If you have the loud motor buzzing sound during a heavy operation (frost free-ing mode?), I discovered, after some banging on the side, that if I pressed my hand on the side, the loud buzzing stops. Remove hand, buzz comes back. Must need some extra bit of reinforcement or a rubber dampener on the other side of the chassis.
I solved it like below. Hopefully my wife won't notice it. Might become annoying to me after a few years.

It's light weight, i was able set it by my self. plugged in and started up, low in noise. The only thing that i was was up set about was not enough shelves. I had to purchase additional shelves which was very expensive. So far the freezer has proving it self to a good investment.

It is roomy, the shelves on the door are so useful for all my jellies and jams. It is quiet, it reached freezing temps quickly. It is very attractive inside and outside. I have one complaint, the duct work takes away shelf space, my husband says that is necessary, it has to be somewhere. I thought maybe it could be more in the wall of the freezer. Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend to anyone looking to buy a freezer. It also is saving energy, our old one, though only 7-8 years old ran most of the time. The delivery men were very courteous and helpful setting it up.
Just had this freezer delivered today! I asked to have the door reversed which the delivery guys did. After they left, I remembered to check the door to insure it sealed properly. Put a flashlight inside, turned it on and closed the door. Light leak! Gasket was not sealing Tried to call the delivery folks. No answer. Called Maytag's warranty service in. They will look at the freezer in two days. Maytag's parts department didn't know what kind of adhesive is used to attach the gasket to the door. I can see a bead of something on the door where the gasket is suppose to be attached. Freezer is off of course, waiting on a fix.

Nice Features In A Freezer At This Price
The delivery crew were very proficient and amiable. First thing I did was reverse the door opening (one of those nice features) which went well . . . however, the door seal must have taken a set during storage because it would no longer seal with the door reversed. I tried to manually 'massage' the seal which helped a bit but I couldn't get the bottom to seal at all (that's what the 2nd picture shows - light shining through the gap). A call to the service center and a week later the issue was resolved with no out-of-pocket cost to me. I wasn't expecting to have to make a warranty call right off the bat but all-in-all everything turned out OK.
Well, you asked for my review. Here goes.
SIZE...My old freezer is a 12 cu ft.... so HAPPY day! more storage area :-)
FROST FREE...Oh so nice. Don't be cheap. Divvy up and pay extra for that. It's 2014. You can thank me later.
LIGHT ON THE INSIDE...Don't laugh. Finally decided to upgrade my 25 year old Kenmore. Never had an interior light....but hey, It's still running and being passed on to my daughter.
NO LOCK ON THE DOOR...Much to my surprise but not a biggie. The old Kenmore had one so I assumed the new one had one. Just about all know how to break down the word "assume". Don't do it.
NO ROLLER WHEELS ON THE BOTTOM...For starters, It's 2014! Where are the freakin' wheels?! I consider this a Biggie and yes, I just assumed new freezers all had wheels now. There I go assuming again. Told the delivery man, "I have already moved the old freezer and calculated the dimensions of the area. You can just roll the new freezer in." He politely said, "There are no wheels, freezers don't have wheels." He had been delivery appliances for 30 years, so who was I to question him on that one. So I pulled out the manual on the freezer and read that some models had wheels. Now I am really confused.
VALUE...Great price from Home Depot because it was a special buy deal.
QUALITY...Only time will tell. Ask me again in 15 to 20 years. I chose the Maytag over the Frigidaire because of the Maytag name. The Frigidaire was less expensive. I called the Maytag hot line to ask about the space allowances. Just a little tip here...I could have just clicked on the little pdf file and read the owner's manual before I wasted their time and mine on the phone call. Customer rep. was very polite and told me, "Thank you for calling Whirlpool." I am confused again.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY...I dunno. It does have a little blue sticker on the door, so I will take their word on that.
