Great utility lamp for our dark crawlspace. It's low profile and wide light dispersion make it an ideal fixture for our use case. Metalux makes similar LED fixtures in 96 and 24 inch lengths, all with the same basic design. It could hardly be easier to install. The unit is very light and one person can easily handle the install without assistance. This unit and the 96 inch unit can be mounted from a ceiling box, if you are lucky enough to have one in the right place and oriented properly. For our installation, we ran Romex from a wall switch to this unit, a 24" unit and two outlets to make our 40' crawlspace more usable. Like the 96 and 24 inch units, the LEDs are covered with a pair of semicircular tubes that diffuse the light very well and make it appear like old fashioned fluorescent lamps. There are mounting slots that are spaced 32 inches apart to make it easy to mount on joists, which worked out perfectly for our crawlspace install. The LED strip is temporarily removed to mount the fixture by disconnecting two plugs and one ground wire. The screw and star lockwasher that attached the ground wire to the case are quite small, so it would be easy to lose them, so care is needed with those. There are plenty of knockouts for wiring so daisy chaining is really easy. The cover just snaps back on once wired. The unit's light is very well dispersed in all directions. It's now easy to find things in storage boxes without the need for flashlights or trouble lamps. I wish we'd have had something like this years ago. We are very pleased with the performance of this light and highly recommend it.

This LED light fixture provides brilliant light and is easy to install. My shop originally had fluorescent lighting but the warm light from this fixture is much more pleasant. The fixtureseparates into two parts for easy installation. One part is attached to the ceiling and is connected to the electrical power- in my case there is a ceiling mounted electrical outlet. This part is both light weight and quite stiff, so I felt confident securing it with a single screw and a fender washer at the center. Testing it at the far end showed it was firmly attached to the ceiling and was not going to move. Loosening the screw allowed me to rotate the fixture to align with the walls. The next step was to wire the light to the outlet used by to old fixture. Finally the part of the fixture with the LEDs is connected with a pair of plugs and sockets and snapped into place into the ceiling mounted part. This is the quickest and easiest ceiling mount installation I have ever done.

Pros Nice Design, Very Bright, Light Weight, very easy installation

I decided to replace the two 4ft 2 bulb fluorescent fixtures in our kitchen. The ballast had gone out in one. These were easy to install and a 25% brighter. And with the 70000 hour expected life, I shouldn't have to replace them!!!

We have a walk up attic, that my wife uses everyday. She has a lot of kids clothes up there, and we had only one light in the middle. I installed this light towards one side and it lit up the attic like Fenway Park. She loves it and can pretty much see everything. Installation was quite easy. I removed the cover and screwed the light to a wooden rafter. I fed electricity from the other light into this one and connected it. Now both lights come on with one switch. The other great thing about this light is it has LED bulbs. While it looks like a fluorescent light, it is not. The bulbs are brighter and will last longer. This is a great light and suits our purpose perfectly.

Very nice and cost effective replacement for an old fluorescent kitchen fixture. Fit perfectly into the wood enclosure that matches the original 1920’s woodwork. Softer but equally bright light.

A large amount of light from a small package. This fixture provides a wide spread of light because of the dual strip. It casts an even amount of light throughout. The light turns on quickly with no delay. There is no buzzing or flickering even in cold weather. The 4000k is a pleasant color and great for laundry rooms or anywhere else in the house. A damp location rating shows this is a nicely sealed unit that will last a long time

Pros Looks Great, Very Bright, quickly turns on

I won’t go into details, but I wanted a high efficiency light above my workbench. This unit has 4433 lumens for 39.2 watts I replaced a 100-watt led bulb (11-watt, 1100 lumen). I was glad to see the slotted holes in the new fixture matched the mounting holes in the electric box I had. They included an adaptor plate for the electrical box, but I never used it. The two mounting screws did a decent job holding the light fixture. I was thinking I may have to locate the trusses, and drill additional mounting holes there, but it was not needed. What was surprising to me was that this unit uses an LED Driver, about the same size as a fluorescent ballast. Unlike a fluorescent fixture, the “bulbs” are attached to the cover plate, while the bulk of the wiring is attached to the base unit. This makes it a little more awkward for the final assembly. They have quick couplers for the lights and another for the ground wire. You will need either 3 hands, or a means to hold the top fixture while you plug in the wires. The area I disliked was the attachment of the top light plate to the base plate. You need to squeeze the legs of the base plate hard enough to make the top plate snap in. I had issues with the final mounting, in that one edge would not snap in. I finally had to remove the top plate, and start over. This time I hooked the opposite leg, and pushed it on that way. Squeezing the base plate is more difficult once the unit is installed. It would have been nicer if the top plate was attached using a couple screws. This is why I rate it 4 instead of 5 stars. The installation actually looks neater than what I thought it would. I’m very happy with the results. I did a little research. Basically, this unit is twice as efficient (lumens per watt) as the T12 Fluorescent. A T8 fluorescent is in-between these two. However, what is interesting is that the comparisons are for new fixtures. The fluorescent loses lumen as they age, while the LED does not.

I really like this light now that it's installed. It provides bright, uniform, daylight color light to my workshop area. It is much better than the 4 ft fluorescent fixture it replaced. My complaint is with the installation of this light. It is designed to be "hard-wired" to the building electrical circuit, rather than having a "plug-in" capability like others I've seen. If you are a do-it-yourselfer who is comfortable working with home wiring, this will not be a major obstacle, but you WILL need appropriate tools such as a wire stripper, screwdriver, drill, etc. and you will have to buy wire clamps to properly install house wiring into the fixture through the knockout holes at the ends. You will need to know how to turn the electrical power off to the circuit you are working with. In addition, the instructions are not correct regarding how to take the light apart to complete the wiring. There is supposed to be marked places along the sides of the light that you squeeze to disengage the upper and lower halves, but no such markings exist. You have to find the locations by trial and error. Finally, you need to know how to use wire nuts correctly. With those thoughts in mind, I recommend this light because of its working quality.
