The instructions are very good. There are many illustrations in the manual and the Quick Look guide. I would, however, recommend that you have it installed by a garage door installer. This unit has the wall control, keypad and 2 remotes. It doesn't come with the backup battery or the Smart Control wi-fi wall control. It comes with the MMW 100 wall control, not the MMW200 wall control needed for wi-fi. The wall control is upgradable if you want the wi-fi capability to use with the Smart App. All of the hardware and rail are included. It has a quiet drive belt.

The Smartphone Compatible feature is based on buying a new $70 wall controller. Basic installation is simple and rather easy. I like how the tracks bolt together with splicing bars vs. slide together. I also like how the obstruction eyes mount separate from the track to the frame of your structure. If your door tracks have been hit and twisted a time or two, it can be a real pain to get the track mount eyes/indicators to line up right. My issue is the variables when you have to program it from start to finish. The door would open 3 feet then stop and the opener would alarm as if it were binding. Come to find out the opener load is automatically set to low. After resetting it to medium weight load, that problem was eliminated. This is the first in over a dozen installations of different brands I have seen this. Second, it is not equipped with a battery back-up. Therefore, after programming the load, programming the remotes, and door keypad, if your breaker trips or you lose power to your door opener, you have to start at square one again. Without the battery backup your door opener loses all presets and programming, which in this case means our door only opens 3 feet until you reprogram it. I was curious and unplugged it to check this theory after I was also unable to ever get it to pair with the factory controller in my pickup. After reprogramming everything and 6 attempts to pair it to my pickup I gave up.

Thank you for the review. We have 3 different models, and you purchased the basic unit MM9333H without the smartphone compatible wall station. The MM9434K for a few dollars more you would of had that feature, and if you needed battery back up the MM9545M has all the features. When setting the limits if done correctly the force will not come into play. After programming the unit and running the door is when it will learn the force. Also the board has a EOM battery to retain the memory so the unit will not lose it settings. Last if the vehicle is equipped with Home Link it would program, it sounds like you have a off brand built in transmitter in your vehicle.

3/4 HP Mighty Mule Belt Drive Opener. As compared to a chain drive unit, this belt drive unit is very quiet, even the motor is quiet. The main noise comes from the rollers on the garage door. Controls include 2 remotes, coded keypad outside control and interior control. Capable of being controlled by your phone if you add the WI-FI module, which I didn't need. On-board LED light gives off enough light to see with the door closed and no other lights on. Safety sensors prevent the door from operating if the door path is blocked and signals an issue. Handled installation through Home Depot. Everything went well and at a reasonable price.

Good Opener with Flaws
Good: Straightforward DIY Install. Very quiet and smooth operation vs old chain unit. Bad: Wall control design is bad where the main button can get jammed or triggered on its own if loose. Clamshell design choice is bad. Recently the garage door keeps opening on its own. Erased all programming per the manual, sync'd the remotes back to the unit. Still happening. Cannot "switch channels" or do anything else. Support said motherboard may be bad. Unit is 2.5 yrs old. Out of warranty.

    cord not long enough
Adding to my previous review... The cord was not long enough to reach my ceiling outlet. Never had that with any other opener.

ktwins, thank you for your comment. We will check into this and compare this issue with other openers. We hope you were able to find an extension cord to get up and running. This is a very good point, and we have our engineers look into this. Thank you

The opener was a normal install and is very quiet. The big problem is that is is not compatible with universal remotes or some smart garage door openers, like older versions of Chamberlain MYQ hub, even thought Chamberlain says they are compatible with any door 1993 or newer. This was confirmed by Mighty Mule customer service. I've also had random problems where the remotes don't work but start working again later. This sounds like a possible fault with the electric eyes but never had a problem with the previous opener.

Ktwins, thank you for your concern. We appreciate your feedback on the installation and the quiet performance. The opener is supplied with two three-button remote controls (the second and third buttons can be used to control an additional opener or gate if it contains a compatible receiver). The part # RB709U-NB is the Universal Receiver and can be purchased on Home Depot.com. The Smart Control Wall Station allows operation of the light and door using the buttons, but it does much more when paired with our Android or iOS application. It can operate your garage door, manage your family’s access, control lights and inform you of people coming and going, all while you are on the go. We are here to help and our Tech Team can be reached at 1-800-543-1236 M-F 8am-7pm EST. They will be happy to get you up and running. Thank you

This is a decent garage door opener for the price. It tends to freeze up every once in a while when I try to push the button to close when I’m in my truck so I still have to figure it out. I’m sure I just have to call the customer service to see what I can do to fix the issue.

The Mighty Mule works ok . However, I had a problem with the wall mount. It was working on and off and causing my garage door to open on its own. Not very happy with that because I came home one afternoon and my garage door was open.

I was hesitant at 1st to buy this as the price was very low and plus I never heard of this brand before. But i was glad I did. It was easy to install. I installed it with the help of my grandson. Its also very quiet. It came with 2 car remotes and 1 wall remote.I would definitely buy again

This Sometimes works. I installed it. It worked fine for 2 months. Now it increasingly makes 2 to 4 beeps and doesn't open. I called the company and the rep treated me like an idiot. Then he said problem was probably caused by wifi or cell phone tower interference. I live in the boonies, cell phone barely works, I do have wifi, but what?....these don't work around wifi or cell towers? Um...where would one use them in that case? I guess I have to call back, be put on hold, and prepare to resist humiliation by customer service. It very well may be my fault, but why did it work flawlessly for 2 months and stop. I was going to put one on the other garage door, but I think it is easier just to open it with my arm. No beeps. No getting locked out of garage.

2 beeps is a short in the wall station wire, repair or replace. Make sure no nails or staples broke wire.
3 beeps is Safety beam obstacle. Only effects closing.
4 beeps Open or close force exceeded, Check for obstruction or binding of the garage door. Adjust force factor
if necessary. Perform a field reset if
        necessary.

This opener appears to be very well thought out and built. The rail is assembled from several smaller pieces, and this design seems to make it stiffer than other one-piece rails I considered. The housing is plastic but seems to be well-made. Everything needed for assembly is included and all hardware is in separate bags to reduce assembly confusion. The directions are clear and I didn't have any problems installing the unit. Operation is much quieter than my old chain-driven Craftsman. The up/down adjustments are made by using 3 buttons on the head unit: up, down, and learn. Once the opener is installed use the remote to close the door. Mine stopped a few feet short. Simply push the down button on the head unit until the door is down, then press learn. Same process for the up position, and from then on the door will be set to those points. Easy as pie. Programming the Home-link in several family Subaru's using the learn button was equally easy. I also purchased the 8-foot extension, which for all Mighty Mule openers is simply an extended wall bracket that the rail connects to. This eliminates the need for extra rail sections or different chain/belt lengths. Very slick and works like a charm. This design makes you wonder what the other companies were thinking when they designed theirs. This opener has only been installed about 3 weeks so not sure of the long-term durability yet, but given the well thought out design and effortless operation, I have high hopes. Given some of the customer complaints with the bigger names in garage door openers I'm happy I took the chance on this relatively new product from Mighty Mule.

After 3 years of playing around with an ailing garage door opener, the Mighty Mule is Terrific! It's quiet, the LED light is brilliant and it comes with an outdoor keypad and 2 vehicle units. I did not opt for the base station for cell phone as it's not needed. I do like that the motor holds a lifetime guarantee. It's rugged, whisper quiet and I am so pleased to have it. I didn't install it but it did take my installer 3 hours.

This opener is the third I've used on my garage door over the years and the installation was on par with others I've used in the past. Depending on how skilled you are it takes any where between two to four hours to install. I was a little reluctant to go with this brand since I've never heard of them, so in my search I found that Mighty Mule has made reliable automatic gate openers since 1987. Knowing that gave me enough confidence to go with this brand over the other more well known brands. It seems very well made and is definitely the quietest and most powerful garage door opener I've ever had.I like that it can be upgraded to work with a smart phone, which costs another $69.00 for the hub to make that work, but at this point I don't think I'm going to use that option. Although it's something I may consider in the future since it adds another entry option if the remote you keep in the car goes dead or gets lost.

This garage door opener has such great features! This opener has LED lights and a quiet belt drive. It has three quarter horse power motor. I was disappointed that the WIFI is upgradeable, but I would have to buy that part separately. Considering that I always seem to lose my remotes it is a good option. This can even be paired with Alex or google assistant
