This is real, 3/4" solid wood flooring with a matte finish. Although the "random" lengths are mostly shorter pieces, slowing down the installation process, the pieces are uniformly flat and square, and once nailed down provide an incredibly strong, beautiful floor. I used the same product in a previous construction project and the surface has proven to be very durable, even after a couple years of hard use. Unlike engineered flooring or laminate, this product does not flex or sag over sub-floor imperfections, and can be refinished time and time again promising an exceptional life expectancy.
My only complaint is the shipping process. The shipping company for my first job transported the product on an over-sized pallet and treated the shipment with care. The second time the product came on a much-too-small pallet and was clearly dragged and dropped a number of times during shipping and delivery, heavily damaging the bottom boxes: something that was not obvious until getting down to the lower boxes. My advice: do not accept a single pallet delivery - unload each box one at a time and inspect for damage.
