This was an online purchase. It was delivered in a timely manner and was of the best quality. I had 1000 sq ft installed and it changed my home from a carpet dusty place to a dwelling of superior excellence.

The product was shipped from the Tennessee factory direct to my home in Georgia. It was delivered only 3 days after I ordered- Fantastic Service. Product is as I had expected. I paid a little more than through the discounters but got Home Depot and a reputable manufacturer. Would do again.

This is real, 3/4" solid wood flooring with a matte finish. Although the "random" lengths are mostly shorter pieces, slowing down the installation process, the pieces are uniformly flat and square, and once nailed down provide an incredibly strong, beautiful floor. I used the same product in a previous construction project and the surface has proven to be very durable, even after a couple years of hard use. Unlike engineered flooring or laminate, this product does not flex or sag over sub-floor imperfections, and can be refinished time and time again promising an exceptional life expectancy. My only complaint is the shipping process. The shipping company for my first job transported the product on an over-sized pallet and treated the shipment with care. The second time the product came on a much-too-small pallet and was clearly dragged and dropped a number of times during shipping and delivery, heavily damaging the bottom boxes: something that was not obvious until getting down to the lower boxes. My advice: do not accept a single pallet delivery - unload each box one at a time and inspect for damage.

  • Light colored solid hardwood flooring

Only comment/observation is that this is grade #2 lumber. It has a fair amount of knots and very dark grain in the wood. You could sort these out/use them in closets or something if you were industrious.

  • Good wood when you can get it...

The wood was good quality, but the only problem is there was many many pieces of the wood in the box that was unusable, so the manufacturers quality control was lacking. We have done other hard wood flooring in our house (different manufacturer), and maybe 5-10% of the wood is warped or unusable. We would estimate that 25% of the wood in these boxes were unusable due to warping, tongue and groove problems, or the wood was cracked. This is how the wood was delivered in brand new packaging. The company needs a major over-haul in inspecting the wood before boxing.

  • Bad product!
  • March 21, 2013

The only good thing was the finish, good finish. The amount of short boards was unacceptable! I would say there was about %50 of the boards were under 18". For $ 5.41 a square ft. I would have expected a better grade of oak not #2, loaded w/knots & way too many shorts, looks like a jig saw puzzle. when my guys pointed this out it was too late to turn back I had like 57 boxes. my client lives in Fl. He'll b up in a couple of weeks, i really hope he likes it because he's a Defect Construction Lawyer!! We might all b getting sued? There was no description letting me know about the shorts & knotty grade.I certainly would not use Milstead Products again.

  • Was somewhat surprised by the difference in color from the sample at the store.

Color was several shades off from sample, but worked out since was a totally separate room from where other flooring was already installed.
