This tool is awesome. I have been a golf course mechanic for 30 years and do a lot of metal fabrication and repairs. it's so nice not to be tethered to an air hose. it has the same or better power as my air powered die grinders. if you let the tool do the work and use the right size disk (2") it works great. carbide bits work great as well. the small battery doesn't last long but large 6.0 battery will go for a good amount of time. i have multiple batteries and can go fo quite a while. the size of the tool is not much larger than air powered. and feels great in your hand. it is also very lightweight.

This is another great tool from Milwaukee. I’ve been wanting (needing) a good die grinder. This M12 FUEL Right Angle Die Grinder fits the bill well! It runs at 4 different speeds (10,000, 15,000, 20,000, and 24,500 RPM) which are easily set with the press of a button. These speeds allow it to be used on a variety of different materials, with commonly available burrs, points, stones, disks, etc., even buffing. And, of course, the speed can be controlled (within each set speed) with the trigger (which has a safety lockout lever as well). It comes with (2) 2.0Ah batteries, a 12V charger, collet wrenches, and a nice, fitted, zippered case. Its compact design allows it to be used in tighter spots than other grinders. The right angle design makes it usable in situations where a straight shaft tool would be more difficult or awkward to use. I recently replaced the deadbolt locks on my daughter’s outside yard gates with double keyed locks to keep the kids in and uninvited “guests” out. The holes in the frames were too small for the new bolts, so I used this die grander to enlarge those holes, using a ½ in. burr. The burr is intended to operate at 8,000 rpm, so it was easy to set the grinder at 10,000 rpm and control the speed a bit lower with the trigger. Worked great! Had the job done in very little time with almost no effort. This die grinder far surpasses the usability of my ¼” straight shaft corded grinder and my ¼” pneumatic grinder. The corded one runs at 34,000 rpm which is far faster than most burrs, disks, etc. are designed to operate at. The pneumatic grinder requires more air volume than my current compressor is capable of producing. And, of course, to use either one of them requires dragging a cord or hose around, which makes some tasks more challenging. Now I just have to “want” a straight, long shaft die grinder to match.

Pros Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, Powerful

Awesome tool! I’m very happy with what Milwaukee did. The RPM levels are plenty high. I thought I’d be running it at level 4 but I’ve actually had to turn it down to 2 on the dial. And the best part....I don’t have to listen to my compressor run every time I use my die grinder.

Very well made and powerful. Very convenient to have no more air hose for the little jobs that need a few minutes of work. I am amazed at the power and quality of this. I would highly recommend.

This has to be the most useful tool i have now. As an automotive fabrication guy this is awesome. I have probably about 20 Milwaukee powertools now and this is the single biggest game changer that means i now no longer need airtools for anything, no more loud compressors in the shop, scratching paint with dirty air air hoses nothing. Thank you Milwaukee

The Milwaukee M12 Fuel 12-volt brushless cordless 1/4 right angle grinder will be a welcome tool for any do-it-yourself-er or hobbyist. Although it be small and easy to hold in ones hand, It is very powerful. It can basically do anything, an air operated grinder can do, and without the inconvenience of the hose. The added light feature, is an extra bonus. I used it to easily cut an aluminum downspout, wire wheel rust of a stool before painting it, and because of its small size and weight, I could use it to carve out the letters in a wood sign.

Pros Accurate, Durable, Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, Light Weight, Powerful

  • Was great at first.
  • January 07, 2020

I just returned mine today. It was great at first and exactly what I wanted in a cordless die grinder. After less then an hour of total use I started having problems though. It would shut off as if the battery was dead after using for just a couple seconds. I even bought new batteries thinking maybe my old ones were going flat but still the same result. I was going to exchange for a new one but after looking at other reviews it seems this is a common problem. Hopefully Milwaukee gets this sorted and I can pick up another one.

I absolutely love this tool, I bought this so I didn't have to drag the air hose to do a tire patch and for when I do have to clean the rim of a vehicle I have had this for about a month and so far it has held up well. This is my go to now and it saves me so much time from having to drag the hose around. The one thing I will say is if it is full speed it is a battery hog where you can easily kill it in about 10 minutes if it has a 2.0 battery on it.
