Great replacement for shorter tasks. The Milwaukee M12 Die Grinder kit (Model 2485-22) is comfortable to use and operate, weighing 25.8 oz with the 2.0Ah battery (and no cutter). The freedom from an air hose is great, and allows access to areas that would otherwise be difficult. The four speed ranges are controlled by a 4-way switch, but unfortunately the label for that switch (showing RPMs) isn't permanent. Still, it's not too hard to realize higher numbers make faster speeds. The chuck is firm and true, and requires the included wrenches to lock the chuck while changing tools. The unit is fairly quiet – much more so than a compressor. The downside is the longevity of the battery – extended operation, especially under load, goes through the charge pretty quickly. Keep additional batteries handy. To me, that's a small price to pay for eliminating the air hose. The motor includes a small LED task light at the base which tries to illuminate the work surface but my hand and/or the sanding disk gets in the way. The handle has a charge-level indicator (4 LEDs) to display the relative charge left in the battery. The kit comes with a handy soft storage case to hold batteries, charger, and a few flat items (e.g. manuals, grinding wheels, abrasive disks). It's a surprisingly high price compared to a pneumatic unit, even without batteries and charger, but, oh that convenience.
