When I use it it doesn't come back automatically I have to put the tape away by hand

Heavy duty tape measure. Has lifetime warranty. Always a positive. ?. Nice strong retracting spring.

This is great for 2x4 walls.

Have had this tape for a year, the bottom numbers have worn off, the protection cover at the first few inches came off, the tape doest retract well without help, doest have good drop defense, dropped from 3ft and plactic blade stop broke off. Overall it's an ok tape just like all the rest, no better or worse. Just preference.

Milwaukee everything is good. Handy little square but only good for so much. Definitely good for some smaller and tighter spaces.

Best tape I’ve had yet, & I always get my money’s worth from Milwaukee.

I don’t work with really wide pieces of wood, so this trim square is perfect for my small wood projects!! It’s very easy to use and compact and easy to store. 4 1/2” is usually the widest the wood I work with gets so this fits my needs perfectly.

Typically respecting the Milwaukee brand, I purchased 2 of these as gifts from HD dot com for gifts. Waited till the eve of the 23rd to open the box so I could wrap them. That is when I saw the 14’ standout on the packaging and remembered seeing 17’ in the on-line description. I thought I must have received old stock so I went to 3 different stores and they all had the same packaging. Went back to the .com and looked up the item. 17’ reach and Milwaukee’s site stated the same. So I called Milwaukee and found out something interesting. I did receive the most current packaging but here lies the devil in the detail. 14’ standout is how far you can extend the tape from the dispenser before it “snaps” and drops to the ground. 17’ reach is that 14’ standout when holding the tape measure with your arm extended. Apparently Milwaukee chose this 17’ reach in their description to align themselves with how the competition is selling their tape measures. Pfft... BTW, I extended both measures out and they snapped at a little over 12’. The next thing marketing will tell me is that standout is extending the measure out at a 70deg angle upwards... If this sort of thing is important to you make your purchases accordingly.

I. was initially very impressed with this tape. From the heavy duty tape to the large numbers and easy to use clip, I thought that this tape was great. That is until the third time I used it and something came loose internally allowing the tape to fall out while the spring flung around inside the case unwinding itself. I tried taking it back to Home Depot for a replacement to be told that I would have to contact Milwaukee directly. So, I did just that. I sent an email over two months ago and am still waiting on a response. I love my Milwaukee tools and have spent thousands of dollars on them. I still believe Milwaukee has the best battery powered tools on the market. However I would not recommend this tape measure and I am very disappointed in their customer service.

Should have listened to the other review. I wanted an apron / small layout square for woodworking. This square feels great in the hand but when i got it home I stuck it against a PEC engineers square and it was clearly well out of square (see photo). This thing might be good enough for framing, but it would likely introduce errors even in trim / finish carpentry. If you’re doing furniture dont’t even consider it.

I have about five different Milwaukee tape measures... they're all excellent! Sturdy, well made and operates smoothly. I keep this shorter tape measure in our tool box, as it's more compact than the 25 footers we have. The best features are the large, easy to read numerals on not one, but BOTH SIDES OF THE TAPE MEASURE. This is extremely helpful for those of us with "bad eyes" and measuring at angles where being able to read the length on either side is crucial. The very wide blade on this bad boy is also a plus. I highly recommend this.

I bought this square primarily for a quick woodworking layout tool, and it's excellent for that. I've checked the accuracy against several other squares and it's dead-on. The increment notches come in handy for scribing, and the machined edge is much better than other squares with cheaper stamped edges.

Perfect pocket size square

It's compacted and it's the perfect size for most of my projects.

One of the best squares I have ever seen for the money. I checked it for being squar as well as checked it to my machinist square. Like the scribing points and the thickness of the aluminum. Also like the size for keeping in my pocket around the shop.

Great tape. Accurate, good stand out, and easy to read. Im a do it yourselfer and carpenter the 14ft stand out comes in handy. This is the only tape measure I'll use now. Simple features, like being able to hold the tape with your finger from below, and how well the belt clip slides on and off but it will rust so wipe it off if it gets wet. If you want the best then this is the one to get. Well done, Milwaukee.

This is one beast of a tape measure! Weighs in at 1 lb 11 oz on my kitchen scale. Pro: Numbers printed on the both sides of the tape are huge, easily visible. I couldn’t quite get a 14 foot “standout,” more like 13 ½ feet. Still very impressive. Strongly built of high impact plastic, slightly surfaced to give a good grip without slipping. Favorite feature: “Finger stop” – on the underside of the unit, the tape is exposed and can be stopped/released with just a little finger pressure with no risk of slicing your finger on the edge of the tape. See picture. Con: None, just be aware that if you hook it on your pants, it will probably pull them down.

Great Milwaukee quality tool. This is a 16 foot wide blade tape measure that is very is to use. The measurements are easy to read and the lock holds tight. Quality construction and very durable as you would expect. Light weight which is nice. The tape stays firm even when stretched out to its full length. A very nice addition to my toolbox around the house.

I would say that this measuring tape is average. The standout was terrific when I first starting using it. However, after a month or so,I feel like it doesn't standout like it did originally. I do like the fact that the measurements are on the back as well as the front. That is one of my favorite things. Also, you can stop the tape from recoiling, by placing your finger on the back of the tape measure( see picture). Nice design. In the end, I think this tape is average, except I really like the numbers on the back.

This tape measure measures 3.75" wide, 3.5" high and 2.25" deep, and weighs more than 26 ounces, making it both heavy and bulky. Standout is claimed on the package to be 14 feet, but I found that the blade kinked at just over 13 feet, at which point the tip had already sagged to floor level from waist height. The 17 foot reach claimed in the item title is excessive. Blade lock is very positive.

I love this Milwaukee 16 feet by 1.3 inch wide blade measure with a 17 feet reach, for the large easy to read numbers that you will find on both sides of the tape. Even without my glasses I can see the number easily. The tape is very sturdy and does not collapse when I am measuring item by myself. The red color if Milwaukee makes it easy to find when I miss-place it.

I was tired of my old measuring tape that would fold over after trying to measure a length longer than about 10 feet. This stout and solid 25 foot tape can be held straight out to 14 feet or possibly a bit more without folding over. Some really nice features that I like are the rubberized frame, measurements printed on both side of the tape, a finger stop, and a strong wire belt clip. The only thing this tape measure is missing is metric measurements but I can live without that. This Milwaukee tape measure comes with a limited lifetime warranty, and plan to get many years of rugged use from it.

This tape measure is not for the faint of heart. It is very heavy, which makes sense since it is a 40' measurer with a seventeen foot solid reach. I posted a picture to compare it to a regular tape measure so you can see the difference. It comes with a belt clip, but I would only clip it to a work belt - something strong, otherwise it may tug your pants down. . The reverse side of the blade in marked with architectural increments as well as regular inch increments. The measurements are large and easy to read. This is a quality product.

Love everything Milwaukee makes. Everything have a good quality and it certainly worth the price. You can see on my pics the difference between a standard measure tape and a Milwaukee one. The tape is strong and have standout at least 14 feet - the size of my room. It has unusual tape end and measurement print on bough sides. Also it has two ways to fix the tape - standard stopper and finger push stop (I love this future!). A belt clip is much better - bigger, stronger and easier to use. This tape is quite expensive, by it worth the money.

This Milwaukee wide blade tap measure is great quality. I love that you can extend the tape nearly the entire length straight without it bending or folding. I have been able to used this tape measure alone measuring long distances without anyone holding the other end in place for accurate measurements. The rubber material on the outside of this tape measure also helps with gripping when using in wet or greasy conditions.

Milwaukee 40 ft. x 1.3 in. Wide Blade Tape Measure with 17 ft. Reach – This tape measure is a lot bigger and heavier than the 25 ft. tape I normally carry when working. It is great though, for prepping for capping foundations and laying out floor systems and walls. Milwaukee added some nice features including printing on both sides of the tape, a finger-stop for holding the tape with slight finger pressure and 17 ft. reach. After several attempts however, I could get just under 16 ft. of reach or less than 13 ft. standout. Because of its size and weight, I won’t be carrying with me routinely, but it is close by when I need a tape longer than 25’.
