This is an excellent tape measure. It needs 10 stars. It is heavier than some thirty-five foot blade tapes I have gotten in the past and at first I thought this was a potential draw back, however, after using the tape I'm sold. It is so well made. The blade is stronger which I hope translates into longer life. Because the blade is denser and stronger it will play out without support for a longer distance than others I have used, so I can stand at the edge of a house that has terrible sticker bushes and play the tape out to measure an inside corner without the blade collapsing. That's a huge plus for me. I predict this will be my new "go-to" tape measure from now on.

This tape measure from Milwaukee is 16 ft. with a 14 ft stand out being very important for me because I usually work alone. The tape has a new finger stop feature that takes a little getting used to because I would usually finger stop from the end, but once you get familiar with the new stop it becomes more comfortable to use the new stop. The blade is reinforced and double sided. I like the new tape a lot and recommend you pick yourself up one.

I am reviewing the Milwaukee 16’ wide blade tape measure. I do a lot of measuring in my work and have used many tape measures. This one feels and looks very well made. The designers definitely addressed the short comings of other brands. I really like that both sides of the tape have markings. It defiantly had the longest standout from any tape I’ve used in the past. This is an extremely valuable feature for me. It is durable and can take being dropped for sure. I am very pleased with this product.

The Milwaukee 25 foot X 1.3 inch wide blade tape measure is a high quality tool with lots of nice features. The tape measure has a nice wide blade with easy to read numbers on both sides. It also has a 1/8 and 1/4 inch architectural scale on the back. The blade has anti tear coating that reinforces the first six inches of the blade and the entire blade has nylon bond to reduce tear. Another great feature is the finger stop on the bottom which makes it easier to hold the blade in position without having to lock it. The impact resistant frame and design helps to protect the tape if dropped. The tape also comes with a handy wire belt clip. The tape measure is Lanyard-ready for quick and easy tethering. The tape measure carries a limited lifetime guarantee. Another fine product by Milwaukee Tool.

The Milwaukee 35 foot tape measure is one of the nicer tape measures that you can get. There are a few features that make is better but they also have a downside. The construction is very sturdy and the tape is nice and rigid but this adds to the weight. It is noticeably heavier than an ordinary measure. The same goes for the width of the tape and the large numbers. I would say this is great for lumber and measurement at a greater scale but not great for small intricate jobs.

SUMMARY: A GOOD TAPE MEASURE, BUT NOT AS GOOD AS ADVERTISED. BACKGROUND: I have a dozen tape measures, but none by Milwaukee. The chance to review their Wide Blade 25 ft. Tape Measuer was too good to pass up. FIT AND FINISH: I like the fit and finish of all my Milwaukee tools. The new tape-measure continues that trend. FEATURES: From the Home Depot page, with my comments as appropriate. • Up to 17 ft. of reach ◦ Not even close to 17 feet of standout. I tried multiple times to reach 17 feet but the best I got was 13. After about 11 feet it was too unsteady to do anything as far as moving around to hook onto anything. Drop at 13 feet was about 4 feet and almost impossible to lift the end without a breakover. Several of my other tape measures operated almost as well. • Longest reach; straightest standout ◦ Not for me. Comparable to several of my other tapes. • Anti-tear coating reinforces the first 6 in. of the tape blade ◦ This is a handy feature. Most of my tape-measures loose their markings within the first few feet. Time will tell for this one. • Nylon bond blade protection reduces tape tear ◦ Not sure what this is, but the tape feels like it’s plastic coated. Several of my other tapes feel the same way. I don’t see how this will stop the metal tape from breaking. • Impact-resistant 5-point reinforced frame ◦ I didn’t do any drop testing to confirm this. • Finger stop delivers tape retraction control ◦ I routinely use my fingers to slow down the tape while it’s retracting. The nice thing about this is the finger cutout is designed in and lets you use your finger in a normal grip. I like it! • 2-sided printing for easy reading ◦ This is a favorite feature for me. Too many times I’ve lost grip with a tape hook while turning the tape to read it. • Architectural scale ◦ I don’t do a lot of architectural reading. But the scale is on the bottom of the tape and doesn’t interfere with using the tape to measure, so it’s a handy extra. • Wire form belt clip ◦ I found this clip easier to use than the solid steel clips on my other tapes. I like it. • Lanyard-ready for quick and easy tethering ◦ If I did ladder work with my tape this would be handy. At least it is there if you do. • Large printing. ◦ IThe printing on the tape is larger than my others. Much easier to read. • Large hook. ◦ A more common feature in new tapes it is very nice to lock on from any side of the tape, especially if working overhead combined with the dual sided printing. OPERATION: The tape mechanism is smooth, the spring retracts fully and the finger brake is easy to use. Although the tape is bigger than any of my others the size affects the droop and breakover. Measuring overhead is MUCH NICER with the printing on the bottom. SUMMARY: A good tape measure, comparable to any of my other higher end tapes in general, but with some features that make it a standout. PROS: Finger brake for retracting. Markings on both sides. Architectural scale on back. Wire belt loop. CONS: Only 12 foot standout reliably.

This tape measure is huge. It’s almost too big. As a former contractor, I don’t think I would use this as it’s very heavy and would weigh down my tool-bag too much. That said, it does have an impressive reach. This is, after all, the selling feature of this tape. I couldn’t quite get it out 14’ unsupported but I could get it to about 12’ away from my hand (one holding the tape a couple of feet away from my other hand which is holding the box). So, yes, it can go out about 14’ from the box if you are supporting it. This would be handy for framers who are trying to get measurements while up in the air. Other than that, the box is plastic. The clip is simple but works. However, this will not fit in a standard sized tape measure pouch for a belt. It also has a cutout on the bottom of the box for keeping a finger on the tape (to keep it from retracting too fast). It also has a standard lock. The box has a spot for attaching a lanyard to keep it from falling. Overall, I like this tape, but I think the weight and size is more than the average person would need which means this is really geared for a specialized few who would have use for the extra reach this provides.

The Milwaukee wide blade tape measure is a sturdy, easy to read 14 ft. x 1.3 in. with an amazing 14-foot standout. Pros: Has a 14 ft. self-standout before it bends. Anti-Tear coating protecting the first 6 inches of the blade. Impact resistant frame 5-point reinforced housing. Finger stop and a lock that protects from blade retraction. Easy to read two-sided printing that increases measurement readability. Wire form belt clip that reduces pocket tearing. Limited lifetime warranty. Cons: There is no magnetic clasp that would allow the tape to cling to ferrous metal surfaces such as metal wall studs.

One tough tape measure. This is solid and very heavy. Don’t fall in the water with this one. The tape itself is wide and sturdy. I was able to extend it out about 15 feet before it started to really bow. The tape housing itself is made from a composite plastic material. I have every reason that this one will hold up just as well as the other Milwaukee tape measures I have.

Another great tape measure from Milwaukee. Although it is listed as a 17' reach the packaging lists this tape as having a 14' standout. I have been able to reach around 13' before it bows downward. This however does not affect the work I do. I mainly measure on the floor or corner to corner regarding walls. The tape measure is very impressive and heavy duty and a bit heavy in weight. The tape has an anti-tear coating, an impact resistant frame, and nice large 2 sided printing. A big safety feature is the finger stop which protects fingers from blade retraction which I consider a must for a tape of this length and size. It also come comes with a wire form belt clip to reduce pocket tearing. Another must have for your tool box.

Milwaukee 25 ft. x 1.3 in. Wide Blade Tape Measure with 14 ft. Standout - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review I always have tape measures around. I keep one just about anywhere I might go – sheds, cars, garage, kitchen, etc. Generally I just have cheap “freebies” that I don’t care if they get lost, broken or “borrowed”. For some work, though, I want a good, accurate tool and the Milwaukee 25 ft. x 1.3 in. Wide Blade Tape Measure meets all of my needs and provides a good intermediate size between my 35 foot and 16 foot tapes. The tape is 25 feet long, 1.3 inches wide, a little under 1.25 pounds and marked in SAE on both sides with the top side markings horizontal and the back side vertical. There are no metric markings but there are Milwaukee models that have them. The tape also has a section on back side for Architectural Scale which is not something I will not make much use of but some may. The markings are all very clear and readable down to 1/16 inches. The curve on the 1.3 inch wide tape allows for a 14 foot standout for times when you have no partner to help extend the tape. I can’t say I’ve been able to get it to standout all 14 feet horizontally but it comes withing six or eight inches of that so I can’t complain. The hook is very solid and held by four rivets so I expect it would take some considerable abuse before tearing the end of the tape. In addition to the rivets there’s an anti-tear coating on the convex side extending 6 inches up the tape that should provide additional strength. The hook extends over the tape on the top and bottom but not on the sides, which would be nice like it is on a 16 foot Milwaukee tape I have. The case is held together with four screws making it feel very solid. The belt/pocket clip is very strong as well and held by a single screw in case you don’t want it attached. If you prefer a lanyard there’s a place to attach one but no lanyard is included. The lock holds very well and there’s an indent on the bottom to be used as a finger stop when retracting the tape. I do some finer woodworking and this tape is a bit long and large but is great for longer measurements needed in construction or similar applications. The 1.3 inch width means the edge of the tape stand up about 3/8 inch when looking down at the concave side. Parallax errors will definitely be a problem and precision measurements can be affected but this is where having the measurement marking on both sides and the ability to use the hook in any orientation comes in very handy. Flip the tape over and view down on the convex side and the markings are right on the work. This reduction of parallax may not seem significant in some applications but can be critical when doing finer measurements. This Milwaukee 25 ft. x 1.3 in. Wide Blade Tape Measure has everything I need in a tape measure for larger applications. At 1.25 pounds it’s a substantial weight. The SAE measurement markings are large and clear on both sides of the tape and the curve of the tape improves standout, increases the versatility and reduces parallax errors to at or near zero. Metric markings might be nice too but I didn’t opt to get a model with them. I would also like to have the hook extend over all four sides like my 16 foot tape does. A lot of good design features went into this tape to improve longevity and usability.

Not what I hoped for
I've been a long time Stanley Fat Max user, but was interested to see what the Milwaukee had to offer. The Wide Blade 25' looked to be a comparable tape. I wasn't sure why Milwaukee's, made in China tape was priced higher than Stanley's made in the USA tape, but the additional features such as, double sided markings, finger stop and larger markings were enough to make me try one. For whatever reason, the 25' Wide Blade tapes at Home Depot are of a 14' standout variety, not the 17' shown in the description, and on Milwaukee's site. The issues that I immediately noticed were, that it took very little to make the tape roll and then fold/flop, when extending out in the air. Also, it would not easily retract without manually helping it in. That is a huge waste of time on the job. To me, it seemed more difficult to get the tongue to hook securely on framing material. I never noticed this with the Fat Max. Anyway, for those reasons I will be returning the Milwaukee.

Good, strong, sturdy tape measure. I like the inclusion of the finger stop on the underside of the tape meadure, this allowed me to manual control how fast the tape retracted, I was able to hold it in place as well. This is useful if thelock becomes damaged or if you want to make a micro adjustment . The numbers on both sides of the tape measure allows me to easily triangulate an area, as I can clearly identify point B, where the tape bends. This is a heavy duty tape measure, I placed it in my pocket of my raincoat and it felt like it was going to tear right through it so I quickly took it out and carried it in my hand

This review is for the Milwaukee 40ft tape measure with 14 foot stand out, and wide 1.3" blade. I found that I could not actually get it to stand out 14 feet without the tape flopping down. It was pretty close though, at around 13 feet of stand out. I'm not sure why you would want to do that anyway as it was really arching, and if the plan is to just feed it across the floor to your end point, you don't really need it to be strong enough to stand out 14 feet first. The housing is big, and red. That should make it easy to find on a job site, but makes it noticeable when you're carrying it on your tool belt. The housing is "impact resistant" and feels almost sturdy enough to drive over without getting damaged, so it should hold up to falls, drops, and getting stepped on. The tape itself is big and easy to read. It's even labeled on both sides. As mentioned above, it comes with a heavy duty metal belt clip. Finally it comes with both a finger stop, and the traditional locking mechanism. This tape measure is a little more expensive, but it could very well be the last tape measure you'll ever need.

So I'm rough on tape measures. The last one I had was ruined with a tile job. So needless to say I need a robust, solid tape measure. The MILWAUKEE 40 FT. X 1.3 IN. W BLADE TAPE MEASURE WITH 14 FT. STANDOUT is proving to put up with my brutality. The tape is costed to protect the numbers which are on both sides of the tape! Ever want to hold the tape in place without the lock? This one has a finger stop along with the lock which is awesome! The clip is a wire rather than a flex plate which is easier to get on and off the belt. It has a spot to tie on a cord. It weights like 10 pounds though (slight exaggeration). I'm getting good usage out of it and I'm happy with the product.

It is massive. I can think of a case where it makes sense (you are wearing heavy gloves). Its not as bad as the 16' model, but it would be hard to handle unless you have gloves or very large hands. I compared it to the 25' regular tape measure I had on hand (see pictures below). The text was quite readable and is on both top and bottom of the tape. You can hold it from snapping back by pressing into the slot on the bottom (there normally is a plastic bit which you press on, but in this case your press directly on the tape).. It is quite well made. I didn't drop it on a hard surface, but it is well padded. It was particularly easy to get out of its packaging, just push a flat-head screw driver under the clip on the back of the packaging (after opening the perforated area and you can lift the clip over the plastic and its free, very convenient. Bottom line: its a large heavy weight tape measure. If you need the size and want durability its a good deal.

I have been very impressed with this tape measure for server all reasons. First - the numbers are large and on both sides of the tape - very easy to see from just about any angle and I can see the numbers from a good distance. Second - the build quality is great. The tape measure is very stout and sturdy with big beefy parts protecting it from drops and falls. This thing feels like it can take a beating. It is large and heavy, easily twice the weight of my 16’ Milwaukee stud tape measure. Third - the standout is great and can easily do 12’. One thing that gives the long standout is the curve of the blade. This can be annoying to make marks because you have to either flatten the blame or twist it so that the hashes are against the surface you want to mark. Not a big deal, more of an observation. I use this tape for building bigger items, laying out/marking yard stuff, marking fencing, and marking stud locations. It is not my primary tape measure as I rarely need 40’ (doing custom cabinets and furniture). But I used it for marking large barn doors and installing the bar door railings that ran 21’ long.

This is a good heavyweight tape measure that works great when measuring larger rooms which I do on a regular basis as I sell flooring and need a dependable tape measure to ensure I get accurate measurements.  This can measure up to 40 feet and the numbers are larger and are on both sides of the tape which works good when having to measure areas up high like inside closets that are packed full of boxes on the floor so it doesn't matter if I hold the tape measure upright or upside down, I can still read it.  This also works good since many closets are 6-10 feet wide so I'm able to hold the tape measure out across the open area without it falling or bending.  It is a little heavier than other smaller tape measures but have the extra width tape and the 40 foot length makes it well worth the investment for me.

This tape measure is wider and heavier than the “normal” 25 feet tape measure. The additional width of the blade also explains the additional weight. However, the features of the measure offset the additional weight. The blade is printed on both sides which makes viewing and marking easier and more accurate. The package says the blade has a 14’ standout (distance you can extend the blade without it bending/collapsing) to allow one person to make long distance measuring. I could get it to stand out at 14’ but found stability and consistency at 12 feet. That is still very good, and the 14’ is feasible. The tape has the usual type of blade lock, but there is also a “finger brake” slot on the underside that can be used to stop and hold the blade independent of the lock or in conjunction with it. Even the wire formed belt clip seems to be more efficient than the other style of solid metal clip. Milwaukee has improved the blade tape measure and this is now my “go to” wide blade measure.

The Milwaukee 16 ft. Tape Measure w/ 14 ft. Standout will definitely replace all of your old cheap tape measures as well as meet just about all of your needs. The tape is approximately 1.3 in. wide with easy to read print. It also comes equipped with a strong and durable metal clip so you can easily attach it to your pants pocket, belt or tool pouch. Finally, there is a finger stop for easier retraction control as well as an area that you can attach a tether to. This tape measure can be extended to over 14 ft. with the support of your second hand. However, you can also extend this tape measure over 11 ft. with no support whatsoever. This will definitely help when you are by yourself and need to measure large distances. It also comes in handy when you need to span across a large opening to someone on the other side. This tape measure is with out a doubt worth the investment.

Wish I had this tape measure a few months ago. I just completed installing vinyl siding on our home and this tape would have come in handy. It was frustrating as I tried to measure larger areas with my old tape measure. My old tape would bend down after 6 or 7 feet which was very annoying. When I saw this Milwaukee tape measure I immediately was drawn to it's "Standout" feature and it works! I also love the large, easy to read printed numbers - a nice extra benefit.

This bad boy Milwaukee 40 ft. W Blade Tape Measures is heavy duty and built to last. This is no feather weight. It weighs in at 1 lb-1 oz. The blade width is 1-3/16”. Hear is some of the nice features that I like about is the 2-sided printing on both sides. The scale is easy to read. It has a finger stop to help control the tape retracting back so fast. I really like that feature. It has a wire belt clip not the sold one that wear out you pocket or the belt. They stated that the blade can standout for extended reach to 14’ but I got it up to 15’-4” extended. Pretty impressive. I guess the only down size would be the weight.

This is one hefty tape measure! Construction feels very solid - the body has some girth to it and it's relatively heavy at just over 1lb. The blade is nice and wide, which no doubt helps with the long standout. I got a good ~12 feet out of it before it collapsed, which is about 5 feet more than I can get out of my other tape measures. There's a nifty finger stop at the bottom of the body that lets you slow the blade as it retracts so that it doesn't come flying back at you.

Over the years I have accumulated a few tape measure's. I have to say this Milwaukee 40 ft. tape measure beats them all hands down. For one I love the fact that it is 40 ft. long. There has been several times over the years when measuring something that the tape is just not long enough. I don't think I will be having that problem with a 40 ft. tape. The other thing I love is the size of the numbering. As my eyes get older I find myself squinting to read the tape measure. Since this tape is 1.3 in. wide you don't have to squint. I also like the fact that they put a architectural scale on the back of the tape along with the normal measurements instead of just leaving it blank. Another great feature is the finger stop on the bottom of the tape measure. You can now extend the tape and hold it in place with just your finger vs. having to push down the tape lock each time. Of all the features on this tape this is my favorite feature and it's funny to think no one has thought of this before (that I know of). Speaking of the tape lock this one actually works. It may just be because its new but it seems like over time you will engage the tape lock and it will still slowly wind the tape back in. This tape lock is so secure that you can't pull it out or push it in when its engaged. They also added anti-tear coating to the first 6" of the tape which should help prolong its life. There is also a real nice wire form belt clip that is very thin and doesn't poke you in the hip should you clip it on the side of your pants. This being a 40 ft. tape it is quite large in the hand but not so big it doesn't feel comfortable. It is shaped ergonomically to fit your hand in all the right places. They also added a spot where you can attach a tether to it. This way if you are working up high you don't have to worry about dropping it on someone working below you or worrying about where you last left it. All in all the Milwaukee engineers did a fantastic job with this tape measure. I can tell that they went to their customers and got feedback and added some real nice features that I haven't seen before.

What an amazing measuring tape. The Milwaukee 16 ft. x 1.3 in. W Blade Tape Measure with 14 ft. Standout is extremely sturdy, lightweight compact and easy to read. The wide blade makes it very easy to read the tape and that is the part I love the most about this tape. It is easy to use, highly flexible and locks easily should the need ever arises. I have found myself using it more than other tapes I have. It is a great measuring tape and I recommend it.

The Tape measure is housed in a somewhat heavy and bulky case but that is to be expected given the overall 40ft length. It is a sturdy product that looks like it will hold up for a long time. Even the lock - a function that I have had issues with on other tape measures - seems to be quite well made. I checked Milwaukee's claim of 14ft standout but could not verify it (see pictures). In my tests it always snapped at around 13 ft. in my eyes that is plenty though. Looking forward to using this tape measure for a long time.

This measuring tape is a joy to use. The tape runs out and retracts well. The lock works when you need it and let's go when it is time to roll up the tape. I am not sure I would hold it in the air when making 14 foot measurements because it arches, but it doesn't pop and bend like most tapes would. I can stretch it 14 feet, then rest the end on a ledge way out there to straighten out the bend and get reasonable measurements. It is also good for vertical measurements. It holds its shape well over 10 feet straight up. The only con is the added weight. It is a bit heavier than my old 30 foot tapes. The packaging is well done so it wasn't hard to open. I did not need to pull out a box cutter, I just opened the perforated flap on the back and unclipped the tape from its plastic package. The wire clip works well. I can slip it onto my belt or waistband with one hand. I can also remove it with a flick of the wrist. It is really nice to be able to use a tool like this one handed. The digits in the marking are very large so it is easy to read even in low light or from a distance. The tape is marked both on the top and the bottom which is quite clever. Also, there is actually an architects scale at the beginning of the bottom side. This is great for making measurements on plans or blueprints! The designers at Milwaukee really put some thought into the features and the design of this tape. It is great to buy a tool that surprises you with extra features that are actually very useful, but I never would think of looking for in a tapel

One of my quite long tape measures is not spring loaded and the standout is just a few inches. Since I always work alone, a 40 foot spring-loaded tape measure with a long standout is a real timesaver. I selected this Milwaukee product for several reasons. First, a tape is printed on both sides. I dislike the sharp metal belt clips found on most; and this tape has one made of formed wire. Dropping the tape from the top of a ladder is preventable if it is attached to a lanyard and this tape has a loop for that purpose. This tape is heavy, nearly 2 pounds so it rides better in a carpenter's tool rig than on a belt. The reverse printed side of the tape includes an architectural scale which is quite handy. One other really nice feature of this tape measure is the finger stop.

The tape measure is noticeably heavier than standard tape measures, so it might be an issue wearing in a pouch or a belt. But the ability to more easily read the measures for us older folk is well worth the weight. The case is a rubber compound so it is not going to slip out of your hands in wet weather. The tip is reinforced so the issue of extra length from the top of the tape will not be an issue. The retraction of the tape is good, not wobbly or too fast, so hopefully it can last a long time.
