  • This radio won't be for everyone
  • December 26, 2016
  • Recommended Product

I own this radio, Milwaukee was awesome enough to send one out to check it out. It does what it advertises and even more. For instance this speaker is for the portable music carpenter entusiasta. Not the I want to hear the radio and know what's going on in the world. This is for the personal music library. And not the radio which everyone hears. Pros: Very portable Heavy heavy duty casing Water splash resistant Charges your phone, tablet etc. Aux input Accepts m12/m18 Cons: It gets moderately heavy with bigger battery Might be a little to big for some people All in all it's a great speaker, and it doesn't matter if you only have m12 or m18 tool, it's compatible with both.

Before I write this review I want to make it clear that this thing is getting used at dirty, hot or cold jobsites this radio does not sit in my garage or get used for little diy projects. It's getting used 8 hrs a day five days a week in commercial construction for about 8 months so far. The reason I bought this radio was simple; I wanted something that was louder than my little Sony bluetooth speaker and something that I didn't have to worry about breaking. I didn't need or want an AM/FM tuner since I use Pandora or Spotify and I wanted something that was relatively small. I purchased this speaker because I already had Milwaukee tools with batteries. Build quality is great, the same as Milwaukee's power tools, there's no creeks when you're moving it and the plastic is durable (I'm guessing Polyethylene %30 GF). No complaints there. Sound quality is where this shines. Yes this speaker can get LOUD but there's little distortion even with the volume up 80-100 percent. The bass, mid range and treble are just about perfect, it doesn't have that typical muddy "boombox" sound that the other yellow radios have. I use Pandora premium or Spotify premium both set at the highest quality from my s8 with all audio processing off. Sound quality through bluetooth is good however I wish this radio used aptX because there is some compression. It's not noticeable on a jobsite but in a quiet setting you can tell it's there. Bluetooth range is meh, sometimes you'll get 100 feet other times you'll get 10 feet. Not an issue for me since my phone stays on a tool cart or near the radio anyways but it is something to be aware of. Let's talk about run time! The most important part of a cordless radio is run time and boy does thing last. If you use the 9.0 AH battery you will not get hours of runtime... You'll get days! I use this thing all week at work %50-90 volume on my phone which is 40 hours, I then take it to the lake and it usually last until Saturday night (another 8 hours) until the battery finally hits one bar.

The M18/M12 Wireless Jobsite Speaker (Model # 2891-20-48-59-2420 Internet #303058100) sounds pretty nice at a mid/high volume and it has a really good bass. It can be used wirelessly using a M12 or M18 battery. It comes with an A/C power adapter for added convenience. The promotional package "Special Buy" that I got came with a Free M12 2.0AH Battery and M12 Charger (packaged separately). Quality wise it seems really good so far however, there is something that I wish it was different. The exterior shell material is all hard plastic, I wish the speaker had a few small rubber insulating feet at the base for when in use upright also, two rubber rings at each end for when in use horizontally. Making the speaker more rouged and improve my confidence in the product.

This little speaker provides great sound and the Bluetooth connection is very convenient and easily managed. It's lightweight for the sound that it puts out and has a nice carrying handle on one end. The controls are intuitive just be aware that in order to get max volume you will need to turn up the volume on both the speaker and your smart phone. It takes both types of Milwaukee batteries, 12 and 18 volt, and they last a good long time. It's nice that they included an AC connector so that you can plug it into household (or workshop!) power.

Pros Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, great sound

This Bluetooth Jobsite Speaker is awesome! Centralized this beast in my flooded/gutted 1500sqft home while busting out some pre-wire. Tunes were heard from back fence line to the curbside with ease. The volume competes with my hackzall no problem. Pop a fully charged M18 XC5.0 battery in that slot for all day penetration of your eardrums. Big side mount handle for easy grab'n'go.. don't forget to fist-pump on the way to your next task! Love it

  • A Must Have!!!

Firstly, I must say that I am an insanely hopeless Milwaukee fan. I own nearly every meaningful tool that they make. With that said, almost all of their tools are good, some not so much. I just picked up this speaker, and I must say that it sounds better than I expected, so much so, I sold my Bose Sound Link. I thought I'd use this speaker solely in my workshop, but instead, it is now a fixture in my home. Ive paired it with my Apple Tv. The sound is simply breathtaking.

  • Loud enough to have a good time!

There have been several reviews about this speaker not being very "loud", or it doesn't have a ton of bass. I played rock, rap, country, pop and many other types of music and it played everything well. This doesn't have subwoofers, but it played the rock and rap very well. I played white noise through it and measured the levels with a decibel level app on my phone. At full volume (it has 16 clicks) at 3' I measured it at 90 dB and at 20' away at a thirty degrees off the center line of the speaker it still measured 88 dB. This is also IP54 rated for water and dust protection. It is rated to stay connected to your phone from 100' away! (I didn't test this feature). I have seen reviews online that show this working even when submerged in water when running off a battery. This will also charge a phone or tablet. I love the fact that this can be powered with the included wall adapter OR M12 batteries OR M18 batteries. Depending on the battery size and the volume that your playing it at depends on the run time of this speaker.

  • Milwaulkee Tough and Easy to Use
  • May 03, 2017
  • Recommended Product

I took it out of the box, attached the battery from my Milwaulkee cordless weedeater, paired it with the Bluetooth on my phone, and it only took a total of 2 minutes. Now when I power it up and hit the Bluetooth button, it almost instantly connects with my smartphone. I think both the sound quality and volume is great and knowing it is impact and water resistant gives me peace of mind as we will be using it around the pool this summer. I have not timed the runtime on battery, but since it can also be powered with electric cord, I am not as concerned about it.

Pros Durable, Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight
