I bought this to replace my dead hackzall. It's noticeably more powerful that my old hackzall and seems to be high quality. So far. I like that it has an adjustable shoe.

Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless SAWZALL Reciprocating Saw Kit W/one 5.0...
Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless SAWZALL Reciprocating Saw Kit W/one 5.0 Ah Batteries, Charger and Case review: My first brushless reciprocating saw AND with a hard case! I have a bunch of Milwaukee power tools and hand tools and drill bits etc and this saw continues my total delight with Milwaukee tools! This brushless tool is lighter than brushed tools, a bit shorter, and so easy to use. I used it today to prune some large trees and crepe myrtle trees. It performed superbly. I used Milwaukee blades and this tool just chewed through all the thick limbs without any issues. I even had to climb a ladder a few times and it was lightweight enough to make it easy to climb the ladder white holding the saw. I used the hanger to hold onto instead of the handle to make it safer to climb with. This machine is tough. I cut through all the limbs with ease. It even has an led to illuminate the cutting area. The case is pretty sweet - a real nice touch for a professional tool. I am so glad it is lighter as that made it safer to use and I did not find myself fatigued carrying and using it - A REAL PLUS! Milwaukee tools are so good that I have almost totally replaced all of my tools with Milwaukee tools - they always work and come through for you AND they can withstand 3 foot drops on concrete with only minor scrapes. These tools just work day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. The batteries are just incredible. They can also withstand drops on concrete - I have dropped two of the 5ah batteries on concrete over a year ago and all that happened was a few minor scrapes - gosh the batteries just keep on going in adverse conditions. I was surprised on how much this tool can be used for - not just demolition jobs. Now, if Milwaukee would just make trucks and homes and food and anything else - what a dream! Lovin' it! There ya go!

This cordless Sawzall can handle any job my other reciprocating saw could do and do it better. It was twice as quick and it is cordless besides. The weight is good and comfortable to hold it has a built in light which helps when working. One good feature is the way you change the blade. No hex wrench necessary, just an easy to use lever by the collar. With it rotated you just insert the blade. Another good feature is the built in hook for hanging.

This is a hefty tool so have a good grip. I wanted something to make some quick clean cuts and the fact that it is cordless is a plus and you won't have to worry about cords being in the way. It comes with instructions but is pretty simple to use. If you have used a jigsaw before, the blade lock and some of the same cuts and materials can be be done with this.

I have a couple large projects coming up this spring around my home and I needed to replace an older, fairly weak reciprocating ,battery powered saw. When I got the chance to get the new Milwaukee m18 fuel Sawzall kit I jumped at it. Now this is a serious tool for those customers looking for a heavy duty, high grade saw. Definitely a contractor grade unit. First thing you notice is it's weight. You feel like you are using a serious tool. I like the integrated hanger, the one lever blade change and the excellent battery. You can somewhat regulate the speed making starting cuts easier. Finally, this isn't just a cheap ,free case that it comes in. The case is rugged and well laid out. Im very impressed with this unit.

The Milwaukee Brand, M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless SAWZALL Reciprocating Saw Kit W/one 5.0 Ah Battery, Charger and Case is every bit as powerful as my Milwaukee corded Sawzall. The power and efficiency of the brushless motor is very impressive with only a mid-range 5-amp hour battery. While prepared to use another charged 5-amp Milwaukee battery to finish my project, I completed with 50-percent charge remaining from a single battery. I used the cordless Sawzall to cut up a rusty old patio furniture set for disposal. When finished, heat from the saw motor could be felt thought the rubber covered body and the battery had only warned slightly, signifying a 5-amp hour battery had adequate capacity to power the saw without being stressed. And as with all my Milwaukee battery operated tools, never did the saw lose power as the battery was being discharged, running as strong at partial charge as full charge. I did try storing a Milwaukee XC6.0-amp hour battery in the case and it will fit when on the saw and the case will close. The XC6.0 battery did not fit the 5.0-amp extra battery storage space inside the case.

Battery-powered tools are the usually the way to go, and Milwaukee makes the best ones. This latest generation of the venerable SAWZALL (Model 2821-21) is powerful and easy to use, but it's heavy: 8.25 lbs (with 5.0 Ah battery) vs 6.25 corded model (without cord). The molded case holds a charger (M18 and M12 batteries) and tool, with a slot for manuals, but no blade storage (compared to my corded Milwaukee unit's case). It's a small thing, but I miss it. The shoe is adjustable without tools (nice) but disengaging the spring lock by pressing on both sides of the case is awkward – and requires a lot of force. Inserting and removing blades is easy, but the instructions are wrong about inserting the blade; the release lever must be pushed up to both release AND insert the blade. The LED light is well placed and provides reasonable illumination of the surface, with the shadow of the blade itself providing an obvious cutline. The handle includes a trigger lock mechanism for obvious safety. I really like the tool for its portability, and the lack of a cord that snags and gets in the way. It will be my go-to tool for small demolition jobs, but its weight limits its long duration use a bit.

After giving my Son-in-Law my old corded recipe saw, I decided to get myself a new cordless one. Most of the work I use it for are things like cutting branches off trees (while on a ladder), cutting roots, sawing up old wood in the yard, etc; tasks where a cordless recipe saw is desirable. Problem was that the few I had used seemed underpowered and the battery life was poor. A contractor friend told me I should try the Milwaukee brand; I was not in their ecosystem so it never crossed my mind, but this set with the M18 FUEL battery and charger included was too good to pass up. It has excellent build quality and a nice feel, but what surprised and pleased me the most was its power; this is a beast. Speed is controlled by pressure on the trigger, and while this took me a little bit to get the hang of the right pressure, I found it to be easy to control. The saw is also surprisingly light compared to others I have used. It cuts fast, much faster than I expected. Blade changes are a snap with their quick lock system, MUCH easier than my old recip saw. The battery system is great; Milwaukee has really done a great job on the FUEL system. I can’t speak to the run time per charge (when doing my tree I used it a couple hours with only a small battery drain seen, but I was using it on and off) but the charging speed was really impressive; when I first got it my battery went from below a quarter (approx) to full charge in about 20 minutes. I will have to check this again, but that was truly amazing based on past experiences with cordless batteries. Some notes: one is that it is a little more front heavy than I expected, but after trying some other saws I still found it to be lighter overall; it is meant to be used with two hands. Another is that it does not come with a blade; that you have to supply yourself. Finally, the case is big but does not have blade storage in it; this is the one thing that I do wish it had. Overall, a great tool and battery system and if you are looking for a cordless Recip saw and battery, this is the one you should get.

I have wanted one of these for so long. I have a corded sawzall but having a battery powered saw that can be used on more things and more often that it's corded brother. Sawzall's are great, their name tells you that they should be your go to saw for everything from demolition to construction and even car building. Milwaukee quality is all through this saw. The saw is very powerful even compared to a corded model. The blades are easy to change and there are a whole range of size and material specific blades to choose from. Battery life is excellent and the saw comes with a high capacity battery and charger, the charger also has a port for M12 battery's

This is my first saws-all, and it will likely last me my lifetime. It’s extremely easy to replace the blade and the power is phenomenal given that it is battery driven. My first project was to breakdown a metal display case that had seen better years. The photos I have included were taken at about 5 minute intervals. I was impressed with how easy it was to finish the job.

The first thing you will notice about the Milwaukee 18-volt Sawzall is it's almost 8.5 lbs. (batt. incl.) brute weight. At 18 inches long (w/batt.) and with the over-molded covering, it is easy to handle and control. Notice picture 5, The QUICK-LOK blade release/lock is fast, easy, and solid. Two other thoughtful features are the adjustable length shoe and a bright LED work light. The HANG hook flips up 90 degrees and if you learn to use it could add safety and convenience to the tool. With a battery charging, pic 2, you can gauge the charging sequence, 2 of the 4 LED'S are lit when the battery is charged the LED'S go out and the green light will show. With the battery in the tool just push the button and it will let you know how much power is left. You can lock off the variable speed trigger. Pull the trigger and you have a fast short-stroke powerhouse. I was glad to see Milwaukee gives you a 5 Ah battery, of course, you could install a 12 Ah batt and see who wears out first. The included case is the best storage possible; it not only allows you to protect and carry the saw (batt. installed) and charger but an extra battery and accessories. The only thing left is, the saw is only as good as the blade you put in it and Milwaukee has a blade for about every job.

The Milwaukee cordless sawzall the best reciprocating saw I have ever used. It is fairly lightweight compared to other brands. It has smooth operation. I had a Milwaukee sawzall for probably forty years and it still worked. That alone should tell you how good they are. The reason I don’t use it anymore is that it would vibrate so much I couldn’t stand it. When I saw how smooth this was I was impressed. It also come with a 5.0 ah battery a charger and a hard plastic case. Also a good set of instructions. It also has a led light , which is great to light up your work. An adjustable foot. I highly recommend this saw.

I have been wanting a cordless reciprocating saw, but could not justify it while old corded saw still worked. Old saw is going to be donated to the Habitat for Humanity construction trailer. The saw comes in a nice case, but there are no designated blade storage locations. However, you can find a spot. The blade install and removal is easy with no tools required. The shoe at blade end has 8 different positions to compensate for different length blades or to use teeth in different areas. The blade needs to be removed and the shoe needs to be pushed in to store the saw. The charger will do both 12V & 18V Milwaukee batteries. The kit comes with a 5 AH 18V battery. I tested the saw with one of my 2 AH batteries while the supplied battery was charging. I used a pruning blade in the saw and cut up a bunch of branches that I had left lying after pruning. It did a great job cutting, but sucked the charge on the small battery down quickly. The saw is comfortable to hold and use. The weight is reasonable. The biggest benefit is NOT having to run extension cords, especially when working at a job site without power or out in the yard. Case has storage location for extra battery.

I’m a homeowner/DIY’er, not a pro tradesperson, so this review comes from that standpoint. The Milwaukee 2821-21 reciprocating saw kit comes with the saw, an XC5.0 battery, charger, and hard case. Coming in at under 7 pounds this saw has excellent fit and finish and I’m finding the vibrations to be minimal (YMMV). It’s comfortable to hold and use, whether with or without work gloves. (Obviously hand protection, hearing protection, and vision protection are highly recommended. I wear leather gloves, ear plugs, and a face shield). There’s a rubberized covering that covers where your forward hand goes and it helps against vibration. The new generation batteries offer longer run times, but I’d still recommend picking up a spare battery if you’re planning a major project such as a deck or finishing a basement. I really don’t like having a battery run out in the middle of a job, putting everything on hold while it recharges. Interestingly the molded hard case has room for a spare battery (see photo below). Only one battery comes with this kit. The battery in my kit had only a minimal charge on it when received. This is a ‘brushless motor’ saw that comes with a 5-year warranty (3-year warranty on the battery). There’s a safety lock on the trigger and a shoe lock button (see photos below). The blade change requires no tools. There’s a 1 ¼” stroke on the blade at up to 3,000 spm (speed is trigger controlled). The saw is relatively light weight and I'm finding it to be fast cutting. Of course, the cutting depends a lot on the blades used, and Milwaukee offers a pretty full line of reciprocating blades. Matching the type of blade with the type of material being worked on makes things go smoother. The saw works with other brands of blades as well. (No blades are included in this kit). There’s an LED light that helps light up the work area, and a hanger hook that folds out of the way when not needed. HTH Jim

Great power and handling but......
The blade change gives me grief 60% of the time. It’s kinda finicky and you have to double check if the blade is in correctly. Other than that, all Around this thing is a beast. Cuts just as fast and powerful as a corded. One of my favorite tools to use every day

Very powerful and versatile light, I am very pleased. I get about 6- 6 1/2 hours on a fully charged M18 XC6.0 battery. I am a union electrician and use it on job sites in all conditions, so far no complaints about durability but I have only had it about 1 month. Overall another great Milwaukee M18 product highly reccomend for the PRO and the DIYer.

This is a Great Light! I have owned it for 2 weeks. It has distance throw and the ability to illuminate a broad walking path, as-well. It is also built very well and I believe that it will stand up to the test of time. The best thing for me is the fact that it uses M18 Rechargeable batteries.

The only real con with this 2 pack of batteries is how to break into the darn packaging. It is packed with heavy gauge plastic that is form welded all the way around the batteries, not even room to get scissors in - forcing you to use a razor knife to release the batteries. I can understand making stuff theft resistant, however, I was not fond taking a razor knife around my new set of batteries. Once out, they first had to be charged - which I expected - one bar on the power level meter. About an hour later one was ready to go to work. They are everything you would expect from Milwaukee lithium! Long on power and short on charging time!

This is a 2-pack of Milwaukee’s 6.0Ah high-output batteries. These make a great alternative to a single 12.0Ah battery if you’re looking for a lighter weight battery (two of these are the same price as one 12.0Ah battery and both batteries are designated as High-Output by Milwaukee). HO batteries use the newer 21700 Li cells and have more power and run cooler than non HO batteries, which use the older 18650 Li cells. I tested the batteries in several of my M18 tools, including a 2902 hammer drill, 2720 Sawzall, and 2730 circular saw. In every case the tools performed extremely well, meaning they exhibited a lot of power under load, and because of the battery’s weight, the tools were easier to handle than they were with the 12.0Ah battery installed. I also compared a “regular” 5.0Ah battery and the 6.0Ah HO battery using my Milwaukee 2902-20 hammer drill and a 1” auger bit (see Photos). I noted the temperature of each battery (using an IR thermometer) before and after drilling 20 holes in a pressure treated 4x6. While not a completely scientific comparison, I did note that the temperate after drilling was three degrees cooler with the 6.0 battery (72 versus 75 degrees, starting temperature for both was 60 degrees). When done, the 5.0 battery only lit 3 LEDs in its fuel gauge and the 6.0 battery still had 4 LEDs. I can’t draw too much of a conclusion from the temperatures (I think I would need to make many more holes to really compare them), but the runtime would be very impressive for the HO battery. So, if you’re using Milwaukee’s high-demand power tools, you may want to look into the 6.0Ah batteries for easier handling than the 12.0Ah battery (of course, for the stationary tools, like the miter and table saws, the 12.0 would be just fine).

M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion High Output Battery Pack 6.0Ah (2-Pack) - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review I’m pretty well invested in Milwaukee battery tools. I recently got a 7-tool set of their M18 Brushless tools and I’m certainly impressed enough with them that I may look into others as well. The kit came with two M18 Red Lithium XC5.0 batteries. They would probably be enough for most use but some of the tools use a bit more power and run batteries out faster. I figured I would get a couple more so I went with a little larger battery – the M18 Red Lithium High Output XC6.0 batteries. According to the Milwaukee website, the “M18™ REDLITHIUM™ HIGH OUTPUT™ XC6.0 Battery Pack provides 50% more power and runs 50% cooler vs M18™ REDLITHIUM™ XC battery packs”. They don’t specify how they came up with those stats so I can’t really say how much of is true or just hype. I can say the XC6.0 battery fits all of Milwaukee’s extensive M18 line of tools – and that ‘s a good thing! All of their batteries have power left indicators. This is a very good thing. I hate starting a job with a low battery then have to stop to get a fresh one. These batteries also hold full – or nearly full – power until they die. If you’re used to using NiCad batteries in your tools, you’ll find this very nice. Without hard data from Milwaukee, and since I have a pair of XC5.0 batteries as well as these XC6.0, I thought I would perform a very “unscientific” comparison and test of the two. Weight: XC5.0 25.71 oz, XC6.0 38.17 oz. This may not seem like a whole lot but it may be significant if you’re wielding the tools for hours on end. Time to charge from completely dead to completely full: XC5.0 70 min, XC6.0 75 minutes. This is using Milwaukee’s M18/M12 Multi-Voltage Charger. Milwaukee has rapid chargers available but I don’t know how much faster they would be. Power: The XC5.0 batteries can run all of the tools in my kit. I’m not sure how long some of the larger ones like the SAWZALL or the circular saw would run but I have used them some with no loss of charge as indicated by the power indicator lights. In my test of drilling holes, the was a slight loss of power near the end of it’s charge. This was barely noticeable and I could only tell when I replaced it with a fresh battery. The XC6.0 had plenty of power to drive the tools in my kit as well. I was trying to be cognizant of power loss at the end of it’s charge and found no discernible loss of power until it die. Life: I drilled half inch holes into a 4x4 using the M18 ½ inch Hammer Drill Driver. I started with the batteries completely charged and drilled holes until the battery died. The XC5.0 drilled 103 holes. The XC6.0 drilled 114 holes. It wasn’t the increased life I was expecting but this was a single trial. Heat: The XC5.0 may have been a little warmer after use than the XC6.0 but nothing significant to me. The drill itself was heating up more than the battery though. As I said, my testing was pretty unscientific and serve only to give a reasonable comparison but YMMV. Neither of these batteries would be suitable for the large M18 tools like the table saw , chainsaw or similar but for the smaller tools like drills, impact wrench and circular saw, they’re a good size and weight. While I really didn’t find a huge difference between the two batteries, if you’re going to need extra batteries than I would suggest getting the XC6.0 over the XC5.0 for the extra capacity and run time. Also, if you’re inclined to believe manufacturer marketing literature, there are other advantages as well. The pretty substantial cost difference between the two would have to be figured in.

*A powerful pair of batteries.* The batteries in this 2 pack are of the latest generation from Milwaukee. These 6.0ah packs, as well as the newly introduced 12ah are especially different from previous models in that the individual cells have received an upgrade. Whereas previous models ran on 18650 cells these now use 21700. This is a significant upgrade for both power and run-time in addition to better thermal management. Design and form factor wise these batteries share many similarities with previous generations with the main difference being in size. Lengthwise these measure in at a little over 5 ¼ inches and height of the cell housing comes in at approx. 2 ¼. Weight comes in at just about 2.4 pounds. I've included some images for a size comparison with the batteries I already owned for a better idea of the differences. In general these will be longer than older models and will usually be taller. Performance wise this pair proved to be a bit more powerful than my other batteries when I got down to using them, the real issue in gauging power increases where due to the limited m18 tools I had to test. I mainly used the new brushless jigsaw for power tests and did notice a feel for increase in power over the 4 and 5ah I previously had. It wasn’t much, but it was there. I also used a brushless drill yet found little noticeable difference there. The tool I used the most to test the capability of these batteries was with the brushless backpack vacuum. While these did put out less power than the 9.0ah it came with it wasnt by much and was still plenty capable. Output here was much higher when compared to any other size I tested. I also used the vacuum to test run-time as any of my other tools, regardless of the battery I’m using, takes an extremely long time to kill one. For the vac I got around 20 minutes on high with each of these. This is very good as the higher 9.0ah has been getting me about 27 minutes. I was impressed with run-time yet truth be told I have never not been impressed with the run time of an m18. Heat output was also noticeably lower both when charging and during extended uses. Whereas older models get warm/hot to the touch, these do not. I would definitely recommend these batteries with the caveat that it depends on the tools you have to use them with. If all you've got is a drill and impact driver then you aren't really going to see much gains here outside of run-time. You'll also have a much larger battery to lug around. Where I think these would shine the most is with tools such as the sawzall, the new brushless circ saw or an angle grinder where the output gains would undoubtedly be most noticeable. Value-wise it is going to depend on you and your usual workload weather these are going to be worth the premium. Just remember that this pair of batteries are a technological advancement and with that always comes a higher buy-in. I wasn’t disappointed with this set and I don’t think you would be either.
