This is a very nice color and that's why I chose this brand. But 3+ coats is crazy. I had a pro painter do my painting this time and I gave him this jar of Energetic from Modern Masters to pain a metal front door and side light. He was not thrilled with this paint. He was painting over a color like brown sugar so you would think Orange would cover in two coats. Not! He finally finished with 3 coats but he is still not happy with the bleed through of the under color. It's makes a very pretty front door but not again.

This paint looked great for a year and then it peeled and peeled. This is painted on a metal front door. We also painted the shutters and they stilll look good. Now we have to sand it all off and figure out where to go from here.

I needed a real boost of color to my house to add some curb appeal. I have white siding with faux Lannon Stone on the front of my house, along with chocolate brown shutters and window trim. I like the brown, but the door was just plain white. I decided to try out this paint after reading many of the reviews. So impressed with it! I will say, it took two solid coats of paint, and two touch-up coats to get it nice and even, but it was well worth the effort. I started painting at 10AM and was done with all 4 coats by 7PM - no issues. Some have complained that it dries too fast and that an additive is needed, I did not have that experience, but knew also that I would have to work fast and efficiently. I had no problems, and the color is spectacular!

I used this paint on my inside garage entrance that we use every day. Beautiful bright color and high quality paint! It covered in two coats and was a vast improvement. A little pricier than most paints, but they offer a more designer type variety of colors for doors than other paint makers.

Fabulous color! Took 3 coats on white plus touch ups using a hand brush. ABSOLUTELY take off your hardware rather than using tape! Works like traditional latex, so the tape takes off paint with it.

This paint was going on our front door after 18 years of weathering in Wisconsin. After a pressure washing and light sanding, two coats looks amazing!

Front door looks very god with Serene Blue color

Love the color for our front door and garage entry door. We primed first with a grey primer then 2 coats of the blue paint. It will look even more amazing with the white shiplap we plan on putting in our entryway. We are very happy with the results.

Fantastic. Very happy. It's the thickest paint I've ever seen. We got the outside of 3 doors painted and still have a little left. 3 coats is really necessary for solid coverage.

Went on smoothly. Easy to work with. A gorgeous color!

Best paint we ever used. Although expensive, it went a very long way. We painted a solid front door, 4 shutters, 2 back doors with glass in the middle and put two coats on all. We still have some left for touch ups if needed. My Son put on FB that we are rebels, used front door paint on the back doors and shutters! Delivery even with the Covid-19 was on time.

I read a bunch of reviews and got the Floetrol. I did the side bars without it and it was like painting with melted chocolate, though the coverage was good. With the Floetrol I had to use more coats but it did buy me the time to get a nice finish on the paint. I did find that no matter if you use it with Floetrol or not, the performance was better with a paint brush than with a roller, which surprised me. A paint brush needed 2 coats, a roller required 4--all with the Floetrol. Using just the paint with no additive and a paint brush, one coat and a whole lot of cursing got the job done and quickly--because you have to (hence the mess). Be sure to get latex paint remover to help you get it off the trim and cement. It got everywhere when I wasn't using the Floetrol, though I still had to do some clean up with the additive.

I love the color it really made the entery pop.

The color is gorgeous and it went on beautifully. I recommend this paint.

The paint went on very easy over the old stain on the fiberglass door. Two coats were used to bring out the shine and luster of the color. No paint ever dripped from the brush, I have painted many doors over the years but I will never use anything else going forward. I highly recommend this paint for any fiberglass or wood surfaces, windows, doors, shutters, etc.

It's a little expensive but the coverage was amazing, and was dry in a short period of time. I was surprised at how little paint I actually used out of the container, so, for the price....that was a little annoying. I may just have to paint the other 2 doors on the house to justify the money spent.

Loved how vibrant the color came out! I was worried the color would be too dull when I saw the container arrive, but after applying the first coat I could tell I had made the right decision.

I was VERY pleased with this paint. My daughter & I (as amateurs) were able to complete the paint job in one day, while keeping the door in place. We did three coats of paint on the door and two coats on the trim and still have 1/2 the container left over. The color is beautiful and a very rich green. I was a little skeptical after the first coat, which seemed very thin. However I believe two coats would have been good enough had we been more experienced painters. Our original paint is 20 years old. It is behind a Unique Home Designs MeshTec security screen door from Home Depot.

Door looks wonderful. Recently changed color of my home and when finished, I realized that the front door needed changed also. Was easy to use, the directions were easy to follow, only needed 2 coats on my formerly red door.

Excellent quality paint. Our door looks very attractive. Easy to use, one coat covers plenty.

Applied really well, didn't take up very much paint, we still have a lot left over to paint more doors! And the green really POPS. It was really easy to roll on, and we really liked the satin gloss. We were kind of skeptical that the paint would not work so well on the door, but it actually worked too well, now our neighbors are asking us all kinds of questions about it and now they know where to go to get some! We really love the new look.

Beautiful Color - went on smoothly. Looks Good

I am very happy with results from using this product. The coverage was good and it went on easy. It was definitely cheaper and easier than installing a new door. I have included before and after pictures of the door.

I LOVE this paint. The packaging is perfect, no mess, easy to open and close. The colour exactly the shade of green depicted here. It glided onto the door and dried quickly to a lovely satin finish. Cleanup just as effortless. Soap and water. Done. I find myself looking for other things to paint! I painted the outside surface of two doors, two coats each and used less then half the contents of the jar.

The color on the door looks great. I had to do three coats. Dries in an hour and paint after two. I was able to do all three coats and close door on the same day. One container is definitely enough. I still have half the container left over. The modern masters front door app worked great to select this color.

My initial reaction to this color, called “Fortunate”, was that the company that makes it would be very, very “Fortunate” to sell any of that particular color. Think of a cross between pea soup and neon green, and it still doesn’t quite capture the awful shade that I was about to apply to a door. The exterior door that we chose was at least 18 years old, and had not been painted in some time. To get rid of old grime and make sure that the surface was ready to take paint, I followed the directions, and prepped door with light sanding. I used 3M Pro Grade Precision 3-2/3 in. x 9 in. 150 Grit Medium Ultra Flexible Sanding Sheet, a really nice product that I reviewed elsewhere. According to the directions, the existing base color did not require any priming, so I took them at their word. In retrospect, I think that priming would have helped, and perhaps would have eliminated some of the issues I encountered during actual application of the paint. Again following the directions on the glass jar, I used a 2 ½” high-quality Purdy brush. After opening the jar, I discovered the first negative (other than the color). There was a pull-off seal on top of jar that was absolutely ridiculous. It took a surprising amount of effort – like a manufacturered, tamper-proof pill bottle, it was extremely hard to pull off, and threatened to drop globs of paint that had adhered to the lid. Somehow I got the film off without a mishap, but still do not understand why such a seal was necessary when they had a perfectly good jar seal on top. Did I mention how horrible the color was? How unfortunate… but it was a free sample, and this door was so ugly anyway that any color should have been an improvement. Although the instructions called for a 2 or 2 ½ inch brush, after applying some paint, I would have preferred a wider jar opening to allow use of wider brush. This would have resulted in fewer brush strokes and probably less streaking. I could have dumped the paint into another open tray or paint bucket, but I was trying to stick to using the materials as provided. While applying the paint to the door, I noticed that there was quite a bit of foaming. In fact, I had not seen this kind of foaming since I used some Olympic stain, probably back in the late 1970’s. This paint did not come anywhere close to covering in one coat. The coverage was very disappointing, and brushing left lots of streaks, some paint puddling, and brush marks. On the plus side, a second coat for both sides of the door looks easily doable given the amount of paint provided in the jar. So, if you are going to use this, count on doing a second coat. For an exterior door, that’s probably a good idea anyway. Overall, I would have to conclude that this paint does not cover as well as other exterior paints, e.g. Benjamin Moore, which is my usual exterior paint of choice. I can’t emphasized enough just how un-“Fortunate” the color was… but after all, I wasn’t here to review the color, just the paint. Some people might like that brilliant green, but it just didn’t go well with my home. Oh well, that’s what sandpaper and additional coats of paint are for, right? A few changes such as a wider jar for use with wider brush and a less cumbersome jar seal would have been very welcomed and would have made the overall experience much better. I like the idea of the paint being in a conveniently recycleable jar, but since jars can seal extremely well, why was that film seal even there? Cleanup was extremely easy - soap and water, and I couldn’t even tell the brush had been in contact with the paint at all. On the positive side, this paint did seem to covered even discolored old paint and rust spots fairly well. However, due to the streaking, foaming, and other issues described, I would not purchase this paint for my own use. Regardless of the color! Expect brush streaks, foaming, and insufficient first coat coverage, despite meticulous prep and cleaning of surface per the instructions. Also on the positive side, this paint stays wet for a while, making it easier to work from a wet edge, but the drawback is that it requires a couple hours before recoating is possible. My overall rating – probably 2 ½ stars. It seems like an average paint, and hardly worthy of the title of World’s Greatest Front Door Paint. After 9 years I decided to fix my front door and I painted using this product and it looks great, this product is excellent and it gave a new look to my front door.
