Nice farmhouse / industrial style shelving piece with a few issues. We wanted to replace an old 5 shelf book case in our living room with something that matched our farmhouse style. This unit has sturdy metal frame and wood veneered MDF shelves. When it arrived I checked the pieces out and found one shelf had some issues, which is the reason for the 4 star review. The veneer was cracked off at the underside of one shelf, and that same shelf had a cam that was loose on the same side. I had a matching wood fill crayon that I used to fix the flaw - since it was on the underside, it wouldn't be seen, anyway. The cog I used an Allen wrench to remove from the hole and then used some strong glue to glue it in place. Once that was done I was able to complete assembling of the shelf. The instructions were clear, but a little too "casual" in verbiage for me - I'd prefer it to be straightforward and not so entertaining. Once it was installed on the brick wall, I just loved the look. Highly recommend the style and end product. The only con was the issue with the one shelf. I'm sure they'd have shipped me a new shelf, but I was under a time constraint, so it made more sense for me to fix it myself.

I am really in love with this shelf! it's the perfect size without seeming to take over a whole room. I really like the open back. We found the assembly to be easy. It included anchors to mount it to the wall. The instructions were actually quite comical. They suggested having an alcoholic beverage to accompany the project--no joke! The color or the shelves (nutmeg) is perfect for our blend of "espresso" and dark brown furniture. With small children I like that it attaches to the wall. However, I do find this limiting for a shelf since once it's attached it's pretty much a done deal as far as rearranging things. Overall, I really like it!

This review is for the Nathan James Theo Warm Nutmeg 5-Shelf Ladder Bookcase with Metal Frame. The Theo ladder shelf is a stylish storage shelf that fits into today's design trends. It's fairly lightweight (but still substantial), was easy to assemble (with some minor problems), and the assembly instructions were very clear. Assembly of this shelf would have been incredibly simple but one of the shelf brackets was bent (I was able to straighten it) and one of the screw holes didn’t line up so I had to shave off some metal. The warm nutmeg color is just the right shade that it can go anywhere and blend in well with other wood tones in your home. The five shelves are large enough and will hold many things from bath towels, clothes, books, and other knickknacks. Standing against the wall, the shelf is a little over 6 feet tall and approximately 24 inches wide. Only two screws are needed to secure it to the wall. The open sides makes it seem less bulky than a traditional shelf and this fits in smaller nooks. I would definitely recommend this shelf but they should use a little more quality control so it can be assembled without having to make modifications.

Well designed. Easy to put together and very sturdy. I didn’t like the dry wall anchors that came with it so I used anchors I already had. More of a personal preference. Would definitely buy again if I needed another.

This is so well made and classy-modern that after I ordered one I ordered another for my office. Then I decided to replace my nightstands in my bedroom with 2 more! GREAT value and easy to assemble.

This bookcase is sturdy but attractive and unobtrusive. I love the minimalist look. Plus, it was a breeze to assemble with the clear instructions and a couple of tools.

This shelf looks great on the wall, though it's not as sturdy as I'd hoped. Although it holds up, the shelves wobble a bit, even with maximum tightness before getting into over-tightening. I feel like if this shelf were designed with two 90˚ angle brackets to adhere each shelf instead of one, it would be a lot sturdier.

I was looking for a leaning ladder shelf and came across this wonderful shelf. It looks modern, was easy to assemble, and seems reasonably strong.

These are so easy to put together. You definitely need two people to secure them to the wall though.
