Can you tell the difference between a bug and a human?
These cameras are okay, they work but not sure why the cameras think a bug flying by is a human person. Needs some tweeks on the cameras to verify a human and bug, there is a big difference. Though I was getting something that really did see the difference between a human or a tree swaying. These were too expensive for the software not to notice humans from a bug flying by. It is irritating.

      The camera box said it was cordless and ran off...
      The camera box said it was cordless and ran off Wi-Fi. But neither was true, so we brought them back and the refund at customer service was really quick and painless, that part was great.

      Hi Charles. That is not correct. The camera box clearly indicates these are AC Powered Wireless cameras. Each camera must be connected to a power source using the provided AC Camera Power Adapters. The cameras wirelessly connect to the Wi-Fi NVR using the Wi-Fi NVR's built-in Wi-Fi. So not sure what you mean neither is true. We do sell Wire Free cameras as well, if that is what you are looking for and we would be happy to discuss that product with you. Thank you.

      Lacking in Many Areas
      This claims to be an outdoor product but the power adapter will not fit in a normal outdoor power outlet. The "motion sensor" is useless, it gives me several "motion" events at dusk and dawn when the daylight changes the view and nothing else.

      Hi Jeff. The power adapter fits all outlets. It you have a specific cover over your outlet that limits the amount of room you have available, that is a different story. But the adapter is a standard AC power adapter. Regarding the motion events, we would need to troubleshoot your settings to help you reduce false alarms, which we are happy to do. There are many advanced settings that can be used to reduce trouble zones and limit these.                 For remote viewing and automatic firmware updates, the NVR needs to be hardwired to a working network access point via Ethernet cable. There is no specific brand of router, modem, etc.. that is compatible. But the connection must be hardwired via Ethernet cable. Not Wi-Fi. Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

                        super difficult you should be ashamed and you have to scan qr code to get camera setup info. What about those with no smartphone and no internet I have two stand alone 8 camera systems no no no internet they are still going well on to your competitor...ps you might try making stand alone more easy and make an option for no password if I chooooozzz to leave it blank

                            One of the cameras doesn't work. The range of the wireless connection of the cameras isn't even close to the advertised distance. They work if you keep them close to the wireless hard drive.

                            Hi Melvin. The cameras can be up to 300 ft. from the Wi-Fi NVR with line of site. If you have obstacles/barriers between the cameras and Wi-Fi NVR then the signal strength will be reduced (more so depending on what type of barrier). We sell a Wi-Fi Extender Antenna to help bypass obstacles and increase the signal strength. Check it out below and let us know if you have any more issues.                               night owl doesnt stand behind theor products
                              My first review was removed. Night owl customer service has been unreachable many times. The product only has a one year warranty. I had many issues within a year and a half now they keep trying tonsell me a nee system. Its difficult to understand their employees. They dont return calls, theybrefuse to put a supervisor on the phone. My last review was removed. Im going to file a complaint with BBB. I highly do not recommend this brand. 24/7 product support is a lie.

                                      neat little system for the money
                                      After installing outlets to power all the cameras, used the exit signs for power...cameras find the NVR on their own, the woo hoo, was a little of a surprise.., Installing the app is easy enough, went through the switch ,router, and modem with no trouble, cameras will dog the daylights out of you, especially if there is a moth in the room..thinking of buying another. none of the cameras are greater than 80 feet from the NVR, they work great. Wish home depot stocked the cameras and doorbells, what you get on the app is great for free. Wish they had an program for a desktop or maybe I have not found it yet. For what it costs it's great.

                                            Loses connection to mobile app often. Motion detection either way too sensitive or hardly sensitive at all.
                                            I like the video quality and not having to pay a subscription fee for alerts. However, when the recorder and app are communicating I either get constant alerts of motion which are undetectable or no alerts when something or someone large is moving on screen. Quite often the app reports the recorder as unresponsive with a red exclamation over it. This requires that I delete the recorder from my app then do a factory reset of the recorder. I must then add all the cameras again, name them and set up the motion detection areas all over again. For just 4 cameras this is a long, aggravating problem. My firmware is up-to-date also. I spent a few days away from home with no way to check the security cameras a couple of times. This happened after one of those total reset ordeals. I'm starting to regret my purchase. While tech support tries to help they can only run me through what they see printed on their screens. One problem they couldn't help with was a total loss of motion detecion on all four cameras, but I rebooted each camera and fixed the problem. Someone needs to refine the motion sensing software on this system, dramatically.
