Follow these rules. (1) For outdoor use only (2) Wear rubber gloves when applying (3) Wait several days before painting.
This is very good sealant for exterior siding, door and window frame applications. It takes several hours to cure fully and may still be tacky after 24 hours. Per the instructions: (Full cure may take 7 - 14 days or longer) If you're in a hurry this isn't the best stuff to use. It has a strong odor and should not be used for interior applications. That's the first thing in the small printed instructions. (Not for interior use in occupied structures). It's very difficult to remove from your hands and tools. The instructions say (for skin contact wash thoroughly with soap and water) but I found it takes mineral spirits to remove this stuff. The best bet is to wear rubber gloves when applying and avoid touching this or getting it on cloths or tools as much as possible.

We used OSI on the exterior of our house because they make color matched products for James Hardie stucco panels. We built our house five years ago. We needed to re-caulk between all the exterior panels just two years after the house was completed and we are now facing this again. I emailed OSI twice (I was not asking for money back, just advice how to get longer life out of their product) but they have not even acknowledged my question yet. They claim their caulk lasts twenty years? Not even close... it cracks after two to three years.
Is this stuff supposed to appear as if it's already setting once it comes out of the tube? I had to squeeze the caulk gun with both hands and it took me 10 minutes to go 8 feet. I was a painter for 10 years, so I'm no newbie to caulking. I bought a couple tubes from different stores with the same result.
This is the worst caulk I have ever used. It is not possible to smooth it out. Tried sponge and finger neither worked it actually ruined the sponge as it would not rinse. When it gets on your hands it is very hard to get off. I have a top if the line caulk gun and this caulk does not come out smooth. It is thick and chunky. Terrible stuff
