This worked great for our shower floor. The capability of raising and lowering the level of your finish floor is ideal for remodel. It does stick up higher than expected even at it's lowest point so take note of your finish floor elevation before permanent install.
They didn't have the bronze drain available so I had to purchase the bronze cover separately and switch it out.
You will need silicone sealant. Yeah... caulk.
Use it to seal between to top of the shower base and the bottom of the drain.
Use silicone only. I wouldn't try this with plumber's putty, especially when plastics/PVC/acrylic are involved.
Keep that fiber /cardboard gasket - it helps the nut slip on the rubber seal instead of bunching it up.

I liked the simplicity. Unfortunately, I had a floor joist right up against my drain, which made it very difficult to tighten up the large 4" nut. Also, I had to battle with numerous water lines and 2 water heaters. Brutal battle, but I got it.
