Very high quality product. Covered deck very well. Even though it really only needed one coat, the painters put on two coats. I feel it will last a long time...Lots of compliments.

Excellent paint, goes on well and lasts a long time (we've used this many times over the years). Would have been excellent except that the color doesn't match the one we bought in the spring, although both were mixed at the same store and from the same can-top sticker. Next time I will use the swatches instead.

When HOme Depot took over the Olympic brand from Lowe’s they dropped the 3 gallon size base to mix our color that we have several patio structures and fence painted and is really expensive in the 1 gallon size. Good product but will be changing to a more economical solid stain

I decided on semi transparent mahogany water based exterior stain rather than solvent for my custom Bistro settee I made. BIG MISTAKE. Stain dries too quick and gives an uneven finish. You must wipe the stain immediately when applied or the result will be dark and light spotting. You must play with the finish to make it even. Overlapping is hard to get right as the stain dries in minutes. Going over the stain to even it out only makes it darker. You cannot match overlapping pieces once stain dries. I've been building and staining furniture for over 30 years and this is the first time I used water based stain. It was horrible to work with. Never ever had I had an issue with solvent based stain. This stain acted like paint. Drips like paint, runs like paint. Not deep penetrating. The desired results I expected were not achieved. Be warned using this, it's absolutely horrible to work with.

Before we even opened the can (solid color stain) my son read the label and is said that it would possibly peel after a certain amount of time. He then got on line and read the reviews and they were all bad. We had just spent many hours stripping paint of our deck and certainly din't want to ever peel everything off the deck ever again! So, now I have a $58 can of stain that I can't, and won't, use. If you want to make this right, send me a refund for the stain and I'll donate it to a charity. Thanks for your time.

Used to paint first coat and second on replacement sections of a wood fence. Turned out very nice!

I ordered this on line - order # W958690598. I had already tried the Elite semi-solid Chestnut Brown color. It covered well but I figured the Solid might be better. The Elite Solid Chestnut Brown color did not match the semi-solid Chestnut Brown or the Olympic color chart AT ALL. It was closer to mud brown. I went to the local Home Depot. They checked and mixed me new gallons Chestnut Brown per their chart. Contractor used it - same issue. The Chestnut Brown color in this Elite Solid stain does not match the Olympic color chart or the semi-solid. It is not close. The local Home Depot says it is correct per their mixing but agree it doesnt match. I now have a mud brown deck. I notified Olympic - no response.

Best paint we have used in a long time. The paint texture is fantastic. It goes on smoothly and evenly.

We just used Olympic Elite Solid Stain (Drift) on our pool deck. We had used another brand years ago and it was getting pretty warned down. After the agonizing prep of sanding, scraping, and cleaning to get the old stain off, we put on two coats. After 48 hours of dry time, the first thing I noticed was it's shiny appearance. Then, as I stepped onto it, it was Very hot to the touch. I stepped onto the pool steps while cleaning, and with my first step back onto the deck, I slid so bad I literally hit the deck. Ouch!, is putting it mildly. I'm afraid for my Grandkids to go up there. So disappointed I'm not sure what to do next.

I had to buy more to put an extra coat on because it marked up so bad from just normal traffic. I tried cleaning with pressure washer from a distance but the paint was coming off so I used a regular garden hose and discovered that the patio chairs had scraped the paint off just from pulling in & out from under the table. Looks like I'll be doing some touch ups because I'm not sanding this stuff off and starting over! When it comes to doing it again I will not buy this stuff! It's expensive as well! Very dissatisfied!

This product is one season old an my deck looks like it's 20 yrs old. Peeled paint, dried my deck so bad it has split in places. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone!!

Easy application and covered with one coat. Some areas required a 2nd thin application to achieve same depth of color on tongue & groove cedar I was sealing/staining which I attribute to my DIY skill level not remaining consistent in brush strokes. Also, some areas revealed vertical brush strokes at a corner joint where I have vertical cedar 1x3 overlapping the horizontal planks. Stain drys quickly so brush direction needs to be consistent across small areas to blend before drying so as not to reveal strokes.

Staining decks is my nemesis, i previously used Behr Deckover on a new deck a few years ago, to having to replace the entire deck because it was absolute garbage. So being ready to stain the newer deck i was paranoid on having to put something on it. I am so Thankful for Olympic Elite. It went on perfect with a brush and roller following the instructions on dry times. I did put on two coats.. I wanted something that goes on thick so i could walk on my deck barefoot and Olympic Elite is thick enough with two coats to cover any burs..

Ordering online did not provide an option for coloration of the base stain. By the time I realized this, it was too late to cancel. Now my option I guess is to take it to the store, then wait or come back to have the colorant added. There should have been a way to specify color, since what can I do with just the base?

I have used this product for many years and it holds up great outside and covers excellent.I find a lot of products that work great are discontinued when you want to purchase it the next time.I hope they do not discontinue this product.I would recommend it to all.

I’ll let you know this spring after I use it

Used it on some new Doug Fir siding. We chose Olive Wood. I applied it with a sprayer and back brushed. The result was nearly black and pretty splotchy. I suppose that I could have applied another coat, but I wanted to actually see the wood; it’s why I bought a stain. But it’s not really a stain; it’s an opaque layer - or, by another name: paint. So, I scrubbed it all back off with mineral spirits. The result is beautiful, though I am suspicious about durability because of the mineral spirits. 350sf/gallon? I could get more like 3500sf out of a gallon. Now I am left wondering about what to apply over the top as a dealer? Maybe some Olympic Elite un-tinted “stain”?
