Test Color First and Use a Pad Applicator

Test the color first, as the base is very dark. I used Atlas Cedar off the shelf. It’s an oil-based stain with the consistency of water, so use a pad to apply, not a brush. My 12” flat stain applicator worked well and boards were well sanded and screws countersunk. For balusters I used regular paint pads. I applied on a hot day always in shade, and no stickiness after.

It is much thinner than I thought, so it took a while to learn how to apply it so that it didn't run. I also did not realize that it was not water cleanup (I hate using turpentine). However, It looks good.
Darker but very pretty

The color ended up a bit darker than we were expecting but it is very very nice looking and we really hope it actually lasts as long as it claims. We are happy with our purchase for our new house

Just stain my deck with Atlas Cedar semi-transperant today. One coat looks fine.

The color online is NOTHING like the actual color, I was expecting a semitransparent light stain that would accent the natural color of our deck. Instead it is much redder and darker than the picture. It goes on well, so I’ll give it that but I’m really disappointed with the color.
