I have used the same Olympic product on my deck for past 4-5 years. This year the same exact can and color produces a much more glossy finish. I had to cover all handrail areas to match. Had planned to just do the deck floor surface. I do like the shiny finish however. Seems to dry a bit quicker, but still stays tacky for 24 hrs or more. You will need more than one coat. Use discardable 3” brush instead of a roller for better application. The waterproof effect will be immediately noticed.

Easy to apply, very forgiving and finishes well. Good water proofing property.

Did the job and the result was as expected. I brushed and rolled the stain on a newly installed fence. The roller held a lot of stain but the brush required frequent reloads. Adding stain took the fence from mundane to upscale.

We used a Scotts 14 dollar sprayer used for weeds or whatever, we sprayed a thick layer on each board and followed up with a wide brush to apply evening. It came out amazing. The color was more red than we wanted but as it drys it is becoming less red. We will do the back yard in Maple Brown to hopefully avoid the red.

I bought a can of this, followed the instructions, shook it well, sprayed for about 3 seconds, then nothing. I figured, defective can, o well. But having one big swipe of red across my piece, figured I would go get another can and try again to keep it consistent. Second can, same thing. If you pull out the nozzle, push it back in slightly sideways and twisting, it sort of almost works for about a half second. If you remove the nozzle and push in with a nail, it discharges fine. This is a nozzle design flaw. It appears to be pinching off the inner discharge port when you push down on the can nozzle. I managed to get two sides of four sprayed before throwing the can across the yard. I'm going to sand this stuff off and buy another brand.

Used this to stay in a rail fence around the perimeter of my yard.. And even with constantly shaking the can and only dumping out a little bit at a time the finish turns out to be Orange...

I used this to reseal my deck, pergola, and fence. It was easy to use with a brush and a sprayer. With the sprayer I followed up with a brush just to even it out. That’s due more to my sprayer technique then a product attribute. Overall I’m satisfied with the product and would purchase it again.

This product is terrible. We did two coats on our exposed deck and after One season the wood is gray and molding and some peaces are splitting!! Green build up in some areas. Spend the extra $$ and get behr. Always worked great for us. Was just trying to save cash this go round.

This stain went on pretty easy for me using a Shure 9inch pad and wand. Paint brush and smaller Shure pad for the rails I used The color is not too transparent and does darken up, despite that I like the color. Time will tell how durable it is.

Thanks very easy to use and very effective at staining and sealing wood flooring that I used as a decorative ceiling. Very happy with the results and water clean up makes life very easy.

I am hearing some of you complain about the pinkish coloring of this stain, and i felt obligated to clear the air a bit for you guys. You bought a "Cedar" stain, and cedar has a naturally pinkish hue to it. Now depending on the climate it grows in will cause a nominal difference in the actual shade of color. I haven't used this product yet (hence the 3 star rating), but couldn't help but try to educate the misinformed DIYer to do a little research into stain colors based off actual wood coloring or tone. One more thing i want to say is, just like all paint never apply just one coat. Always use at least 2. I made a rack for my room using untreated fir strips and used 2 coats of natural stain, but notice the unstained fir strip (was leftover). Each coat applied will darken the shade a little bit.

Clean application. Absorption rate was perfect. Color looks amazing. Very happy we used this Olympic Waterguard stain on our deck!

Painted some weather beaten dried out pressure treated wood, looks amazing now after one coat.

I bought 4 - 1 gallon cans of stain to cover a fairly new deck. I have followed everything to a "t" wanting my deck to look beautiful. I washed and prepped the deck as recommended. I waited until it had several days without rain. Well, my deck is now 3 different colors. Why did I continue? Because when it was going on and still wet, It appeared that the colors were the same. I am so disappointed!! I shook all of the cans the same. I applied the stain the same way to the whole deck. I am extremely disappointed in the product and can only assume that at least 2 of the cans were mislabeled. With that said, the area that did come out looking according to the color of the can is well sealed and beautiful

I love the color

We removed old stain from deck since we had new railings and bannisters installed in the spring. We used the Maple Brown color because we wanted some brown color but not too much. Previous stain was a dark chocolate which made the deck impossible to stand on in the sun. It took 2 days to put stain on because of the size/height challenges. We are thrilled with the results. We are planning to do the same on our front railing since this worked so well and was easy to use (and clean up was quick). Since it's still new, we will see how it holds up over the winter.

There aren't many choices of stain in a spray can. I bought it to stain a weathered wooden horse walk through gate in a horse pasture. Using a spray made it much faster on the rough and split wood surfaces. I was impressed that the spray can came out smoothly even when held at different angles (until it was almost empty). Its also much more of a red tint then a brown. I dont know how long the waterproofing will last since I just sprayed it. So far I'm very happy with it.

It is more orange than I expected. But the product works very well. I saw some complaints sbout it taking a while to dry. You dont have to cake it on. Go light and give that first coat 20 minutes to dry. You don’t have to go so heavy. Come back and add another coat as needed.

Goes back on smoothly and drys fast

i applied the waterguard on my deck and the next time it rained, like after two weeks of curing in the hot sun, water beaded up on the deck then when it dried, it left stains. this stain ruined my brand new redwood deck.

So far, this stain looks great. It's only been on the fence for less than 1 week. I applied the stain with only a brush, a stain bristle brush. The color is exactly what I wanted. Direct sunlight really makes this stain looks great. This stain exceeds my expectations. The price was very reasonable, it was basically half the price of a comparable 5 gallon stain. I will be purchasing this again for my next fence project.

It was reasonably priced, but I won't know how well it works for quite a while. I have to wait and see how quickly my wood fence starts to weather.

This product was easy to use, looks great, and water beads up on it beautifully, letting me know my finished project is protected.

Went on easy and looks great. The maple brown looks very natural. The semi-transparent allows the grain to show through but darkens the wood a bit. I used a synthetic brush and I recommend it.
