FAKE MARKETING AND FAKE PRODUCT
This is the most ineffective product that I have used so far for cockroaches. I think they are selling simple water.I can challenge the manufacture of this product that it does not work.I have even video proof that when I spray on cockroaches, it seems cockroaches enjoy it. I am not sure how this crap is getting more rating in particularly home depot. Do not fall in the trap by seeing the ratings.

Most insects cannot be controlled in the egg stage, so insecticides are targeted to control insects in the larval or adult stages. Also, more mature or larger insects will take longer to control than younger or smaller insects. You may not see the insects die immediately, but you should see a reduction in the pests or their damage within a few days. It works for a while but need to keep applying about every week. Also spray nozzle has clogged numerous times I have contacted Ortho. Wish it worked better and wish there was other products out there that worked better.

Will stain your tile and hardwood floors!
This stuff will leave a waxy appearance wherever you spray it. (see photo taken 24 hrs after application) Not “non-staining” as the label clearly states. I’ve used another brand on these same floors with no issue. This junk is headed to the garbage can.

Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer
The ants have been relentless this year. We've had them before, but never to this capacity. It seems the warmer it got, the more they came out. I couldn't take it anymore and initially started to buy some Raid. I decided to try something different, and I wish I had stuck to my first instinct. I came home all ready and eager to use this spray with a cool, neat wand, only to be disappointed. I literally saturated a group of ants while trying to sit in my backyard and enjoy the air and it seems the spray was just a bath to them! A few died instantly but others kept running around as if trying to warn the others! They are literally invading my space inside the house. I even brought some raid baits to put in cabinets, doorways and other entry points and I haven't seen a difference there either. I brought a Bayer brand last year and it worked like it said it would. I didn't buy that brand this time because I wanted to give another product a try. I'm sure you have products that work just as great, but this particular insect killer doesn't cut it. Does not kill spiders.
I have used this product for years with a false sense of security. Today I found a Brown Recluse (Violin on its back) in the house and caught it live in a mason jar. I sprayed THREE PUMPS of Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer For Indoor & Perimeter on a piece of cardboard and dropped it in the mason jar with the spider. Three hours later the spider is still very much alive. This product is a waste of money.

Wonderful, simply wonderfu.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product and the packaging is so easy to use. No pumping, no odor and no residue. I have had great results. We had a neighbor behind us recently move in and they brought some unwanted guests, large cockroaches. Not the small German Browns the big ones. I use the Home Defense MAX and they come out of their hiding places and I find them flat on their backs with their little feet in the air dead or dying. Thank you.

Satisfied all around!
I followed the directions closely with this product and sprayed the interior and exterior of our home yesterday evening. I have to say that I'm impressed with how effective it has been already. Our home is a new construction and we were having trouble with ants, millipedes, and spiders (especially outside and in the garage). I've yet to see a millipede or ant inside the house since I sprayed. And it looks as if all the spiders have begun to take their show on the road lol I will definitely continue to use this product. No exterminator for me!

Discrepency in label and doesn't pass the test.
First, we purchased this item for the purpose of killing spiders (including black widows). The back of the bottle states "Spiders (including black widow, Brown Recluse, Hobo and Wolf)". We sprayed the perimeter of our house in June, and I have noticed spider webs all summer. Today I found two black widows one inside and one outside. Both times the Home Defense was used and both times it failed to kill the black widows. Which brings me here tonight. The description on this website states it "(excludes Black Widows and Brown Recluse)". The inaccuracy is a huge problem and is very misleading. The product failed and I want a new product that will do what it says!

The product that you have is registered for control of Black Widow Spiders. Timing is an important factor in insect control. Most insects cannot be controlled in the egg stage, so insecticides are targeted to control insects in the larval or adult stages. Also, more mature or larger insects will take longer to control than younger or smaller insects. You may not see the insects die immediately, but you should see a reduction in the pests or their damage within a few days. Treating both the outside entry points and the inside at the same time will also help. It may also be necessary to reapply if you notice an increase in insect activity.

I've used Home Defense for years. I spray the inside and exterior of my home quarterly. I hate bugs! I have pets and grandchildren. Be sure it is dry before allowing pets back in. I also clean the floors before allowing pets back. No bugs.

Works great at keeping black/brown widows at bay.
Great product but the sprayer itself is made in china junk! Absolute garbage. I am forced to buy a pump sprayer because the battery operated sprayer that comes with the bottle is that bad.

Always my go to spring and fall
Always has and still dors work well for control of sweet ants, abput to test for Roaches as neighbors moved, etc. never had a problem, i hadnt sprayed my barrier around house yet this year..
