Got my act together today, and finished building my new 4' x 4' x 12" raised garden bed. I will admit it was quite a struggle for me starting out with the assembly of the posts, and side boards. My solution to that was to add a slight touch of Vaseline to each of the notches, and they slid in a lot easier. I did clean the ground area first, then laid an entire layer of old newspapers, along with garden fabric covering the entire area. This will prevent weeds and grass from growing through, as they can't grow if there's no sunlight, etc. I love vegetables, especially home grown. I will be planting strawberries along the front in the next 24-48 hours. I love that they will be able to hang over the front and/or side ledges so as not to rest in the freshly watered soil. I had been advised that this is the best way to grow strawberries. I love Okra, and I can't wait for that to grow also. There is literally no maintenance required for the actual vinyl constructed raised garden bed, no weeds (I hope), and no rot or splintering of the materials. Potting soil for raised gardens, and mulch purchased at HomeDepot.com. I used their online calculator to determine the exact number of bags I needed. Very effective online tool for determining quantity needed.

Pros Durable, Easy to Clean, Functionality, Good Shape, Great Quality, Strong, Stylish, Vibrant Color Cons somewhat hard to put together, 2-oerson job at best

  • Really Nice Garden Bed
  • June 02, 2017

Outdoor Essentials Vinyl Raised Garden Bed Really nice product. The kit arrived in a six foot long box that consisted of eight, four foot long side pieces, four posts and four post caps. There is no bottom built into the bed. While one person could assemble this it is easier if you have a second person give you a hand. The posts have a slot in two sides that is sized perfectly to fit two of the side pieces in. The instructions indicate you should align the posts in a square approximately 4 feet apart, slide the wall/side pieces in on all four sides then use a rubber mallet to tap the posts into the soil. If you have a perfectly flat surface with soft dirt this is about all it would take to get this installed. My surface had a small amount of slope and the ground here in central Texas is anything but soft. We were also assembling around a tree so my install was just a little bit different. Once I completed the assembly around the tree I figured out where I needed to dig a couple of shallow holes for two of the posts and for a groove for part of side pieces. We moved the assembled bed around a bit as we were digging and then placed it back into the areas we had dug out. This bed is easy to assemble, looks good and is made of high quality vinyl, it should provide years of service with little to no maintenance. Overall this is an excellent product. Pros Quality built Looks good Easy to assemble Comes with directions Cons None

This is a good size to start a raised garden bed. At 4x4, it's big enough to grow almost anything you want. You can reach all the way in to care for your plants. With the garden bed I can limit how much soil I buy. Right now I'm growing some strawberry plants in the garden bed and it's nice to access them easily in the garden bed. I don't have to reach down as far as if it was directly in the ground level.

This product is easy to assemble and install. My husband assembled the raised bed using a rubber mallet. The slats just have to aligned and pushed into the posts until they, "click." The trickiest part was keeping the parts squared and aligned while putting it together. It was easier with an extra pair of hands. The bed is deep and has no bottom tray like other similar products I have used. The material is sturdy and will stand up to weather, unlike many wooden beds. I've been very happy with this raised bed and my zucchini plants seem to be also.

Pros Durable, Easy to Install

I bought this as a present for my wife since she's been wanting a raised bed and herb garden (also bought from the same manufacturer) and she loves it. It was very simple and easy to put together and the white really looks good and it's super easy to spray clean when I water the plants. I added the extension kit to make it an 8' x 4' instead of just the 4'x4' that worked out well. I would recommend.

  • "Such a great looking raised garden bed, the brilliant white stands out nicely"

My wife and I are pleased on the ease of putting this 4X4 vinyl raised square garden bed together. It didn't take long to have it complete. Be sure to use a rubber mallet, it will make the install so much easier. It comes in a brilliant white vinyl. Follow the simple picture/description instructions for fast and easy installation. Once adding the dirt and garden soil which took 15 shovels full of dirt and three bags of raised bed & potting mix. We planted a couple of tomatoe plants, thai basil, cilantro and chili peppers. After all the dust, dirt and mess just be sure to use your water hose for easy cleaning to the bed. I really like the way the pyramid post caps fit well on the corner post. It gives the raised garden bed a nice fortress look appeal to it.. Such a great design and will hang in for the longevity of plenty of years of gardening to come. I don't see this ever rotting such as wood would. Just awesome!!!!
