I ordered this on Nov 13 and received it curbside on Nov 28, two days earlier than expected. The delivery guy and I got the heavy awkward box as far as my front lawn, and he made a note that the box and palette it was strapped to were both damaged. A friend and I opened the box and carried the structure piece by piece to the back yard. We didn't notice any damage or missing parts. I only mention this because I hate to think how it would have gone if my friend and I hadn't been home at the time! After it was assembled, I did notice a ding in one of the roof panels, but will probably just live with it. I hired my favorite handyman service to help me install it, and we had it up in a total of 3.5 hours. I had a tube of silicone caulk on hand, as well as timber lock screws to attach it to wood siding and appropriate fasteners to screw the front legs down onto my composite deck (4 of those 6-inch fasteners went directly into the deck joists, so it's solid as a rock.) I cannot imagine one person constructing this alone. I'm a 65-year old woman with 30 years of remodeling and DIY experience, and my handyman was meticulous in reading and following the instructions, which I had printed out from the website listing. I am now completely delighted with this deck cover! I had shopped around for a couple years for something affordable that would provide both shade and rain protection on my odd-shaped deck. When this went on sale, I knew I'd never find a better deal, especially because it's so adjustable. And it looks way better than I expected. I was afraid it would look industrial, but it's very attractive and blends into my architecture beautifully.

Good product and much cheaper than paying a local company who wanted over $5000. I was able to install it in about 10 hours.

Exactly what we needed. Easy to assemble and looks good. We used 4x4's to reinforce the vertical supports as we live in a high wind area, but otherwise components are adequate.

I ordered this from Home Depot, online, and it was shipped to my home with ease. I did not install this myself, however the install went well with a couple guys in a few hours. This replaced an older awning, and I loved the modern look. Aftrer the install, I was delighted at all the light that was able to come through the roof panels. The gutter system is nice to direct the rain away, however Im still looking for ideas for a rain chain. The only con so far is the bolt cover came off and I lost it. I might contact Palram to get some extras. I recomend this product.

We purchased the patio cover. It looks great. We had some friends help us do the install which we did over a 2 day period. The directions could have been more clear but once we spent some “hands on “ time on it we figured it out. Many part numbers and not much detail. Here are some tips: Figure out all the parts first, use the manual to help you give a name to all your parts (ie header, post, rafter, ledger) If you have multiple headers and ledgers it does make a difference which one is on the left or right side so figure this out before you put it up. We put the ledger up first (this is not how the directions indicate). We put the posts together before starting the rest. We found that installing rafters and the polycarbonate as we went was much easier than rafters first then all the poly. Just don’t fully tighten the rafters until the poly sheets are snapped in. It allows a little play in order to snap in the sheets- then tighten. It worked best with 4 people to get started then then you can drop to 2. Remember to caulk the rain gutter together as you put it up. We forgot and it leaks without the caulking. So we had to take it back apart and do that. We ordered the second cover after installing the first. Unfortunately they were different dye lots on the paint, but not too noticeable. I’d recommend getting exactly what you want in one order to avoid this. The dimensions are outside dimensions. Meaning the depth from house to footing is to include the entire foot of the posts. This is critical for the posts being plumb and the rain gutter being able to click in if you go to the maximum depth. We have had many positive comments about how it looks. Neighbors stopping by to ask about it. All are waiting to hear how it handles our California Snow load before they order their own. We really liked the flexibility of height and distance that this system offers. Another positive is the amount of light that comes through so that we get the natural light in the house.

The Pelram Patio Cover has added a whole new "room" to our house. The cover provides shade from the heat and a nice dry space when it rains. We are out here ALL the time snd get lots if compliments. My husband and 16 year-old son installed the patio cover without any trouble (though I agree the instructions were minimal). We rented a concrete drill from Home Depot and easily installed the concrete screws. One panel did arrive dented in the box, but we called Pelram and they quickly sent a replacement. I was concerned about the "clear" panels, but they aren't very transparent - so the enivitable dusting of pollen, bird poop, and whatnot isn't noticable. I found the best way to add outdoor lights was to use Zip Ties and my husband created a downspout for the gutter using PVC pipe to direct the water off the patio.

The goal was to protect us from weather when walking out my back door or sliding door. Success. Very easy to install - and I have a prosthetic knee!. Take your time, read the instructions. Installing the header was honestly the hardest part and it wasn't hard. If you liked playing with erector sets growing up, this will be fun. I spent a significant amount of time making sure the header placement would provide enough pitch for water run off. Adjusting the rise and location of the support posts was easy and safe. Will probably add another one to my carport in the future.

The materials are really good quality. The installation instructions are very straight forward and easy to understand. Do not deviate from following these instructions. The key is to have the structure perfectly square prior to applying the polycarbonate panels. I highly recommend hiring a qualified carpenter or handyman if you're attaching it to the exterior wall's studs (make sure your lag bolts are going into the studs) and you've never had any experience doing this. Although the unit comes with hardware for a masonry application , it's easy to use the provided lag bolts/washers to go into the walls' studs. Our snow load has been historically recorded at 25 lbs sq ft. This structure is rated to withstand a 30 lbs sq ft snow load and 75 mile winds. I adjusted mine to provide 17 degree angle on the roof so it should be easier for the snow to slide off. The cost of this unit and having just to assemble it, rather than having to build a wooden structure from scratch, appealed to me. I'm glad I decided to go this route.

Sturdy and well engineered. Easy to assemble with help. Translucent panels pass a little light, but not too much. The roof panels illuminated by my floodlight above casts a soft glow throughout the porch at night. Not sure how well the roof panels will tolerate the harsh Arizona summer, but we'll find out soon enough.

I bought and installed this patio cover earlier this year. Installation was fairly easy with the step by step instructions. Allthough the instructions were made for brick/morter installation, we went to our local Hardware store and found the appropriate lag bolts to install on vinyl. The intallation time was about 3 1/2 hours with two people. I will love it for years to come.

Love our new patio cover and it looks great. We thought the panels were going to be more transparent, but they are opaque white which is actually better. They block the direct sun but let sufficient light through that we our home is still naturally lighted during the day. If you are doing a project of this size you really need at least three people. We were able to do most of it with just two but created some balancing issues while putting it up (we used ladders as extra hands). Otherwise the assembly is simple, but it would be nice if the there was a written description with the pictures. This project took two of us around 10 hours to complete. Our patio is 8x30 and opted to get the 10x28 (so that the BBQ's can vent on either side). It is one of the few kits we could find that would work on our patio.

Overall it was easy to install my house was a little different because I have bay windows and had to install it in between the windows. My patio also has a drop off about 6 inches so it worked well when installing it because I couldn't put it high enough for the specifications. After I completed the whole thing it looks great and is very sturdy. I have no back ground in installing awnings and I found the instructions pretty straight forward and easy to follow.

The awning itself is beautiful! It transmits just the right amount of light and is cool yet bright to sit under...love it! We have had it for several weeks and a few rain storms, enough to test it out. The friends I had install it were experienced and had no problems with assembly, although they did embellish a little on the gutter and drainage system. My only caveat is that it took 2 weeks to get it from delivery site to the house because the first shipper didn't have the right equipment to unload it; after many phone calls and a bit of frustration, it was finally sent to a logistics company that had a large enough piece of equipment to safely unload it from the truck. Not sure why Home Depot didn't check this out before using the first company.

Taking my time to assemble proved to be an advantage since I had to make some modifications to fit my situation. However, the Patio Cover was easy to modify to the dimensions I needed. It was relatively easy to assemble and is quite sturdy. I anticipate it lasting a long time. Thank you Palram.

I'm happy with the product. It was fairly easy to put together. The instructions is all drawings. So, that made it a bit tricky to make out what to do sometimes with out an actual explanation. It took me a day to put together, by myself, for the most part. There is a couple of steps you need 2 people for. I noticed that when I was shopping for this product, I saw some people had issues with the gasket (not staying in place) that goes in the middle. That particular drawing is NOT clear on how it suppose to go. I, in fact, started to put it on wrong. So, I've pulled it back a little and took a picture to attach to this review to help. Other then the instructions not being very clear, I am very happy with the product.

Looks and feels high quality. Easy to install. Odd gutter.

Had to make some modifications (cuts, etc.) since it was used for building a custom screen room. Nice looking and high quality product.

I really love this patio cover. It was fairly easy to assemble and install. I think the manufacturer should advertise this product via tv, newspaper or magazine. It's a fantastic deck cover and I would never have discovered it if I hadn't googled deck covers. I have already recommended this cover to a couple other friends.

Caught this on sale and had a %off coupon, came out to a touch over $1400 with tax & shipping. I mounted this to a reinforced facia board at a lower height then what is specified (91") and it came out looking great and is extremely sturdy (we get some strong winds in my area). I was also pleased with the flexibility on this cover as the end of my concrete patio where the legs mounted was not perfectly flat, but due to the hinged design of the part that mounts to your house/wall and the oval shape of the footings bolt holes it worked out fine. This went on the side of my house that gets the most sun and my house would get very hot in the afternoon, after putting this on we saw a huge difference in that regard.

When the package arrived, it had little damage on the outside corner, the board was broken on one end, later on when we install the roof panel, found out the last panel has little damage and it would not go into the track. Overall, I like the design of the cover, looks very nice, quality is good. I am in the California, no rain yet, so I don't know how the cover will do under the rain. But under the California sun, it is doing very well, nice shade and cool, still give me plenty lights. The only complain that I have are: 1. If the label of the parts are bigger and noticeable, it can save me a lot of time, try to find the numbers and match the instruction guide. 2. The main screws (item #411) can be a little longer, it will made job easier. 3. The screw (item # 7335) was wrong size, too big! 4. The item #7334 has 2 holes, but only need one screw, don't understand? I like all pictures assembly instruction guide, well done.

I had a problem with a drain freezing with extended cold weather. This would cause a problem when it rained before the drain had time to thaw. This patio cover looks great over that area.

I needed cover for patio furniture from rain, but did not wish to block sun light to windows. My high wall space was limited due to Fireplace and dining room roofline. This product worked out just great. Easy to assemble. I made longer legs as the wall mount was located 14 inches above the 120 inch limit. The instructions were easy to understand and Quality of product seems better than I expected. I am proud to show it off to friends and neighbors.

I found the product worked well for my intended project. I needed to reverse engineer it for the area I wanted to cover and reversed the pitch. Once I got up my adapted hardware the awning was easy to assemble. It helped that the instructions were also available online from the Palram website. I particularly liked the quality of the materials.

The patio cover is perfect for my home. After reading the first review (Thank you to you and your wife, I gained confidence) I decided to purchase and put it up myself. My son is a 14 year old Lego Man, he took charge of the instructions and we proudly finished in less than five hours to include our breaks. I have a deck on top of my patio and considered gutters to keep the rain off the house which would destroy both my top and bottom french doors. Again, the perfect patio cover takes care of both areas which carries the water and leaves away from the doors. Now, I'm going to try to get the sides and put a patio cover at Mom's since she wants a porch.

Good instructions but this was a challenging install due to the gaping basement stairway hole I was putting it over...lots of going up and down my 32' ladder but got it up. Biggest challenge was the posts going into concrete in my case so needed hammer drill and masonry screws (many of which only wanted to go in part way. In any case, it's up and is functioning as desired. Looks pretty good too.

The canopy seems fairly sturdy and well designed. Will have to wait and see how it does over time/weather (will it hold up over 10 years?). The instructions were fair; some sections could have used a bit more details (e.g. wrench/nut size, etc.), and the water drainage needs to be a bit deeper to handle moderate to heavy rains. Plus the water drain design for the junction between two sections could be improved, as it tends to leak a little. I drilled a few extra holes in the "far" end support legs to extend them up a couple centimeters and thus put a "tilt" to the drain gutter, which helps, but still could use some additional depth in the gutter. The Customer Support was great ! Finished project looks nice.
