Hi Keith, thanks for your question. Yes each component of the Peak Aluminum Railing system are sold separately for maximum versatility when designing your railing project. Thank you!

These railings are quite simple to install and look really nice. They are on the pricy side, but I believe the quality is worth it. The printed instructions were plenty clear and easy to follow.

The quality is good, but installation was a beast. Perhaps I’m not as handy as the average guy. Getting the spacers cut to the right length took me several tries. I opted to not do the other side of my stairs (3 steps) because I didn’t want to go through the process again. My wife said she prefers that other side without a railing, so I happily returned the 2nd stair railing.

Railing looks great but be aware that putting it together to fit your deck frame is no cake walk. Lots of measuring, cutting and math. Stairs with multiple 6 ft sections were the biggest challenge. Measure 3 times and make sure each section is aligned with the previous one.

Need quality control.
Most parts had a decent finish on them. The stair picket and spacer kit I had was not good. Pickets had rough corners to them. The spacers were poorly cut and had marks on every one of them from the cutting process. The posts and top rails were beautifully finished. The lower rail had a really bad flaw that people should be aware of before they install them. I always leave the protective peel off plastic on metal parts until after installation. Do NOT do this with this product. When I removed the plastic from the lower rails it left what looked like sticker residue on the rail that would not come off and is part of the finish. Not sure if the plastic had a reaction with the paint or if they put it on too soon after coating the bottom rail but it looks awful and will need to be repainted. It would be better to peel off the protective plastic first and just take the risk of scratching it during installation over having a screwed up finish on a rail that is already installed. I attached a picture with some white paper behind it to show it. Everything else has a nice satin finish to it and the bottom rail has a sparatic dull finish following the ripples of the peel off plastic. Goo Gone and paint thinner will not make any difference at all.

Hello, thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We would like to replace the Hand & Base rail kit that you have that clearly shows the defect that the protective plastic left. This normally doesn't happen unless the plastic has been left on for long periods of time. Please give us a call at 877-883-7325 at your convenience so we can make the arrangements. Thank you.

    Happy wife, happy life!
So, my wife is into Feng shui. She has been asking me to alter our perfectly fine stairs for a couple of years now and I have been avoiding at at all costs. Her reasons are: the steps come down directly to the front door, no-no. Second, the number of steps comes out to death, just trust me on this. My solution was to turn the bottom step to a landing and add a half wall or railing to the end to "block" the money from going out the front door (Feng shui). I built the landing, approximately 3'x4' and put a large piece of tile for the floor. Now the problem was the wall/railing. She really wanted glass so it would match my future railing if we ever win the lottery. Right now we have white wrought iron. So, we were pricing tempered glass and mounting systems and the cost was coming out to near $1000.00 for a freaking 4 foot by 3.5 foot wall!!! Thank the God's that my wife is frugal (cheap!). After days of searching she stumbled upon this system at home depot. We went with the 6 inch glass (clear) panes and white railing. I also got the side mounts as I didn't want to drill my tile. The side mounts and spacers were the biggest challenge. The side mounts because they are not perfectly flat on top and I had to spend some time shimming the corner posts to get them plumb. The spacers because they come 4 inch and we only needed 1-1/4 inch spaces and I had to cut them all. They are aluminum. I mounted the side brackets (level and plumb) then mounted one corner post and plumbed it. Next I stood the other corner post in position without mounting. I attached the top and bottom railing to the mounted post and marked it against the other post then cut it to size. Then we had to do some math and draw some pictures (trust me, when your wife is supervising and your brain is starting to boil, draw a picture....how many spaces with 2 posts and 7 pieces of glass?) Ok, I digress. I screwed the top and bottom railing to the mounted post. Meanwhile my daughter was putting the supplied sleeves onto both ends of the glass pieces. I slid a spacer into top and bottom rail followed by one 6 inch glass followed by top and bottom spacer then glass, etc. until I got to the end. Mounted the other post, screwed it to the rails and voila! I am no furniture builder but I have construction experience and I would rate difficulty at a 4 of 10. Directions are adequate and straight-forward. If you are mounting to the top of a deck and have four inch spaces, peice of cake. I suggest having a second pair of hands and drawing pictures and doing some math. The wife is very happy and my life is serendipitous! I will include a couple of photos. (Railing, not wife)

Arrived all banged up and bent. Looks like it left the factory looking like this. Not at all what I expected or worth the money. Plus the one of the handrails arrived in black (doubled checked and everything I ordered was in white)

Once installed the railing system is sturdy and makes my porch and stairs safer. It also looks great. I was impressed at how sturdy the railings are. It has been installed about three weeks now. I used the Peak website Railing Planner to determine what parts I needed that was very helpful. I also watched the video on how to install the Railing System which was also helpful. I purchased more parts than the 1-6' Stair Pickets and Spacers above. I also purchased 1-Stair Post, 1-6' Stair Railing, 2-End Posts, 1-4' Railing and 3-Post Base Covers. All parts were not available at our local Home Depot and a trip another Home Depot was needed for the Post Base Covers. I ran into a problem installing the stair railing. The instructions had me to cut and install the bottom rail of the railing at both ends, then cut the upper rail to the same length. Next cut and install a spacer so the first bottom of the stair picket is 4" or less from the bottom Stair Post. Then install a picket at the bottom of the stairs. Repeat the procedure of installing a picket to the top of the stairs. This requires to have someone hold the two pickets at the opposite end of the stairs. Now attach the top rail and press the pickets Into place and mark where the Stair Connectors go on each end of the top railing. I marked the holes, drilled them and installed the upper and lower Stair Connector. Unless there are two or three people involved in this evolution, it is difficult to hold the rails and pickets while attaching the top rail. I only had two people and the assembly fell apart several times. As a result, the upper Stair Connector was installed in the wrong place. After several tries to assemble all the pickets in the railing we realized the top Stair Connector was installed too high. I had to drill new holes for it in the End Post to make it fit. I was lucky, I added a screw to the end Post to hide the errant hole.
