This is second one I purchased which was a replacement. First lasted for about 10 years before wore out and leaked. Yes I recommend this highly. Been used a lot indoors and out. Used for tires, blow things out air chuck, brad nailer for molding trim. Originally bought the kit which I recommend. I did replace with extended flexible rubber air hose as original is stiff and will crack. Have retractable hose for garage and regular for portable jobs.

much better very efficient
This Porter Cable 6 gallon pancake type compressor works so much better than the H.F. compressor which was replaced. We purchased this compressor to replace a 15 year old H.Freight. compressor which used only 9 amps 120 volt AC which allowed us to use an 1500 watt inverter. the Porter Cable uses 10 amps, but after reducing the 4 gauge copper cables by 5 feet in length and using all other same equipment we have much better performance, we now can easily run a air powered die grinder or air powered right angle grinder. The performance improvement is so much better it is amazing. We used to have to wait 10 minutes for the H.F. compressor to build up 125 psi, plus 11 gallon air tank, to use these air tools. Now there is no longer any lag. Wow all those years of poor performance. But finally we have good American made performance.

We bought this to run the coil nailer, which we also bought from HD to reshingle our house. It worked great! Fifty bundles of shingles (Also from HD) later we now have a new roof on our hunt camp home ?

        Lasted two years
I bought this compressor about two years ago. I seldom use it as I have a larger compressor in my basement. I wanted a second one for inflating tires, using my nailer away from home, etc. it worked great... for two years (probably 5-10 hours total use). The piston shot up through the top of the unit while I was using it! It was cheap at $99 so I guess I got what I paid for, but I expected more from Porter Cable.

          Tire warning date
I purchased this in Dec 2020 and immediately read the manual including a WARNING: RISK OF BURSTING stating "your compressor air tank must be removed from service by the end of the year shown on your tank warning label". The label is dated "2020" giving me less than a month to use this according to the manual. Note: manual was copyrighted in 2014, implying the tanks are good for 6 years. I am taking it back to the nearby HD ASAP, expecting to exchange for an entirely different portable compressor.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Please contact support at 800-544-6986 reference case #12818991. There are 2 types of date codes: one is the date of manufacturing and the other is the tank (safety) expiration.

I really like it so far. This is a great deal for the price! This is my second Porter-Cable 6 gal compressor, I used the first one for over 8 years before the regulator went out. So far so good with this one, but my one complaint is the gauge assembly is attached to the main body by only a threaded pipe, and the whole gauge/air outlet assembly turns side to side with the hose when I move the hose side to side. My last one did not do that and I am concerned that the pipe joint will eventually leak with this assembly moving with the hose every time. That is why the 4 instead of the 5 rating. We will see.

product was tested and functional. Have an issue though: I ordered this online and received a very disappointing package. See pictures. It makes me wonder if this is a new packaging trend of Porter Cable &/or HD for brand new items. I sent emails to HD customer service (homedepotcustomercare@email.homedepot.com) and followed up twice but all remained unanswered. Courtesy of a reply should have been nice, explaining shabbiness.

We appreciate your feedback on the C2002 and are sorry to hear about the issue you are having with the packaging. This is not how the product is shipped out from our distribution centers. Everything is brand new even the boxes they are sent out in. We are sorry the packaging looks rough but are glad to hear the compressor is running as it should. Tank leaked on first go
When I opened the box it looked like there was a burr where the hose connected to the tank. I wiped it off, took it out of the box and turned it on. You could hear air leaking at the tank connection. Needless to say it never got any pressure after a few minutes. Very disappointed.

                Forgotten but effective
Our staple gun wasn’t included in the package at all. Tried contacting our local Home Depot by phone and they didn’t seem to care (COVID was preventing us from going in because we didn’t feel like waiting in line forever). The nail guns we got work well and the compressor does what it’s supposed to. It is loud and it’s runtime is short before it has to refill but that’s expected with a smaller tank. I would but again if I got everything I was supposed in the next box.

I am building a shed and possible to finish the basement. Have no any experience on nail gun and compressor. I need the compressor to be portable and use extension cord, since the shed locates far away from house. Got the first compressor with wheels from Menards. It draw too much current and cause my home in the dark (trips the breaker). After checking online, realize some compressor does cause this issue. Return that one and get this one. Works great with long extension cord for framing the shed (3", 2" nails). Great one for the job site.

Had the predecessor to this product for almost 20 years. It blew one of its gaskets and I needed a replacement, now so I bought the same thing. I'll rebuild the old one and then I'll have two because sometimes you need multiple nail lengths. This job was weathered oak but, it seems more like tool steel. I don't remember a single misfire

I bought the basic unit without any tools or hoses as I had tools and hoses already. It did come with the two female quick release fittings already installed. The price was excellent at $99. Fourteen years ago I purchased at Home Depot for $99 a Husky with same size motor (approximately) but only a 2 gallon tank. The Porter Cable has a 6 gallon tank which is a noticeable improvement. The max tank pressure is 150 psi instead of 135 of smaller units. It does not walk or vibrate excessively, and it is not noticeably louder than my old one ever was. I only use it for tires and blowing out lines, or clearing dirt, etc. It stays in the garage most of the time, but is light enough to carry around easily. It holds enough air to top up all tires on a car without carrying out a power line. It is light enough to carry around easily. It will run an impact wrench at 90 psi but only for one lawnmower blade at a time (which is all I need). It has a water drain cock around the bottom. I cannot attest to its longevity as I have only had it two weeks. I know the line regulator may fail as the old one on the Husky did after about two years. I still have the larger precision external one that lasted 12 years ready to install if needed.

Product is great but very misleading on the Home Depot Web site. In the pictures on the web site along the left side, photo number 15, it implies that the compressor comes with a hose and some basic fittings and tools and mine did not include any of those items in the box. So the compressor is awesome and maybe a 5 star but the misleading pictures warrant it a 3 star rating because I was disappointed in that I had taken those items into consideration when comparing this items to others available in this price range.

                      Excellent Compressor
I had to buy a compressor in a rush to finish my fence since the one I was using was borrowed from a contractor friend. His compressor was a high quality DeWalt. I'm happy to say that I didn't notice a difference at all other than the noise difference as the compressor kicks on to raise pressure, which is brief and pretty much is off most of the time. For over $200 cheaper than most other compressors I'm very pleased with this product.

I've had this compressor for about a month. I've been remodeling and installing new door and window trim. This has a lot of power for a compact compressor. It is very easy to move around because of the sturdy handle on top and has rubber feet to hold it in place and protect floors. The smooth rounded body makes clean up much easier. This is a very well built product. It cycles quickly up to 150 psi and is quiet for a portable compressor. Another quality Porter Cable product!

After my old finish nailer quit, I bought this one. It is easy to use and works well to drive finish nails. So far, I have used it to nail up some base and door trim in a newly remodeled room. For this application, it worked as expected. I did notice that the air pressure needs to be set properly to get the desired depth of the nail into the trim. There is also a depth dial on the gun to set the nail depth. This takes a little tweaking as different trims have different compositions. I left the non-marring tip on the nailer which is a nice feature for keeping the trim looking good. The nail release is easy to use in case you want to change to a different length of nail. The exhaust channel can also be moved to keep it away from your face. Also, note that this nailer is designed to be used without oil.

The first one I purchased made a strange sound during loading close to 100 PSI. I called Porter Cable and they gave me a place to take it for repair. I only had it for one day and just started its first fill. I took it back to Home Deport and they exchanged it for a different one and plans were for them to send the other one back to PC. Home Depot is my favorite store for all my construction needs. I have well over 300 receipts in my email in-box. There has never been any problem bringing back any item for whatever reason. Most of the time was because I over bought too much and returned the extra. It sounds like I work for them but I always feel confident buying from HD. This replacement Porter Cable Compressor ran as expected. Light and easy to move from place to place. Happy with purchase.

Porter Cable customer service caused this to be returned for nothing.
I purchased this compressor last week. When I got it home and turned it on, I could feel lots of air coming out of the top at the right housing tab (see pic). I figured right off there was a leak. I called Porter Cable and told the rep about it and he said yes it sounds like a problem better return it. I returned it as "defective" and got another. I got the replacement home and decided to Google a search for the schematic and found out that the air I was feeling was (obviously) the pump fan (cooler). How was I to know this? Both of these units have another problem in my opinion. The vibration when running is so bad that the unit "walks" all around the floor. I think I am back to drawing board for a compressor. I did notice this unit is a new design from the other C2002 units. This cord wrap is on top with horizontal power switch as opposed to a display model the side cord wrap and vertical power switch. Maybe this was to be an "improvement"?

this is my second porter cable compressor. the first was nice, but this one has improvements in all the areas it needed. the carrying handle is more ergonomic than previous model. easy to carry around the house. another nice feature is the cord management system on the side. no more wrapping the power cord around various parts of the compressor. it is nice to have a dedicated "bracket" to wrap the power cord. also the two different quick couplers are nice!
