It’s not wood. It’s some kind of plastic laminate over beaverboard. Also, needs to be attached to a wall for stability. The things you don’t know when you buy….Did I miss some small print?

This is very sturdy and holds a lot of DVD's, VHS and tapes. It is nice that the doors fold in to save space and they also lock. Very pleased with this purchase.

Looks good and did the job I needed it to do. It has a lot of room and I was able to load all my cd, dvd, and vhs videos which I was nervous about it's ability to do so, but no worries, it did the job.It even comes with a lock and key, which I use to keep the fully loaded doors closed. It also comes with a marker to "erase" the small marks that happen when assembling a "put together" piece of furniture. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase.

It's a nice shelf but very cheaply made with some design mistakes. The plastic latch in the second door does not clear a DVD or Blu-ray and needs to be trimmed. Some of the glued parts have gaps and don't quite line up cleanly. But overall I'm happy with it.

I was looking for a DVD storage cabinet that would replace an existing cabinet and had nearly the same footprint. The cabinet came (no damage), but none of the parts were labeled (ex. panel is part of left door not part of side of rear cabinet) a bit of confusion there, use blue painter tape and identify all parts with arrows(if need be). In the instructions, there should have been a better spacing option for the fixed shelves. As instructed the media spacing of fixed shelves is for VHS's not DVD's. The builder should space out what media he/she wants to store before assembly. A second glitch occurs when putting on the assembled doors - the rear cabinet is approx.1 inch narrower than the door, you'll have to raise the back cabinet about 1" to allow easy assembly of the door hinges. The latch to hold the left hand door is also badly placed, I would have preferred two locking doors from the front rather than where the left door latch is located (still, I could retro fit a second lock at a later time if it still vexes me). Total weight as shipped is around 110 lbs.(2 packages) not 75 lbs. as in the item description. Total build time should be around 4 hours working alone. However, due to the rear cabinet spacing glitch, I put the cabinet together, did a partial disassembly and reassembled the cabinet - total build time now was about 11 hours (again working alone). In disassembly, time is used to prevent needless disassembly and damage (by you) for the final assembly. This is a two person lift and time was lost in assembly because in my apartment floor space is a high premium. The cabinet is 5 stars, but the instructions should only rate a 2+.

The cabinet is quite good. It fits our DVD way better then what we had before. There is 1 mistake in the build instructions. It can't lie it flat on its back to put on the doors. This doesn't work because the doors are taller than the sides, 2 side shelves are the difference so it can be propped up.

Useful but flawed in many ways
The Bad : First shelf is useless. If you fill it entirely, you can't access the lock mecanism inside with your finger for the left door. Theres no space left. This is a bad design. Spent too much time cleaning the pieces inside the box from the wood. I would expect something new to be clear of any wood dust when its packaged. Building manual is wrong at one of the steps. It tells you to put the doors face down side by side with the main shelves to place the door hinges, but its half an inch too high this way (Note : DONT install the front doors of the door shelves when doing this step). You also have to drill your own holes for the locking mecanism, which is stupid. Philip screws are bad overall.Give me robertson screws instead if you want me to drill in the wood. Also, the back is flimsy like carboard and you have to use a hammer with too many nails. Not stable, is crooked a little once built. The Good : Holds a lot fo DVDs and Blue Rays. Perfect for big collections, looks good in the living room.

Easy to put together and looks acceptable. Some of the holes didn't line up exactly for the shelves, but it's not really noticeable. I wish it was taller; I may need another.

Overall very satisfied. One must be careful with the materials as they are made of pressed wood - instructions we good and care no to throw out packaging is wise. Some hardware can lurk around as we found. It dis take about 4 careful hours for me and my son to assemble but it was good exercise!

        Because Zero isn't an Option
Cheap material, takes at least an hour or two to assemble. Terrible and unreliable locking system. Overall not worth your money. Terrible product.
