Great product, great price. Checked numerous hardware outlets over several years with no luck. Happy to find this item online as a way to repair the latch without having to replace the existing heavy solid brass handles. The latch easily accommodates the heavy handles in the vertical orientation (as shown in photo), and even has enough spring pressure to return to neutral when the heavy handles were installed horizontally. The latch mechanism installed easily with only minor adjustment of the bezels to allow for proper clearance.

Twice Home Depot shipped a “star drive” not the “square drive” that I ordered. This product is mislabeled in your system.

Made of steel and brass. Should last and last. Replaced previous latches made of pot metal.

It did the job compared with other door latches.

The title and packaging says 1/4 but the image advertises fitting a 5/16 knob. 5/16 did not fit.

It did not fit my spindle for my doorknob. I don't know what spindles it does fit.

Like many others, I found that the square drive does not actually fit a 5/16” square lever. The two sizes are more accurately 1/4” and 9/32”, not 5/16”.

This latch seemed to be of good quality, but it does NOT fit a 5/16” drive. I returned it to the store, no questions asked.

Tried to replace a Cifial door latch. The star opening for the handle on the latch I got from Home depot was not big enough. The quality of the HD piece looked good but unfortunately I could not use and needed to return it

The product was returned as it isn't to spec...as noted by lots of reviewers....

I bought this specifically for a 5/16 spindle door knob and it does not fit. There are other reviewers having the same experience. I measured to make sure I ordered the correct size. Very disappointed that Home Depot would continue to carry this product after being made aware. Hopefully another vendor will be more reliable.

I have a lot of doors with these latches, so I stock up on them for whenever one goes bad. I can usually get a few years out of the Prime Line pieces. They’re reliable. The local HD store switched to Defiant, though, which I’ve found to be less reliable. Also, the HD store no longer carries just the latch, you have to buy the whole Defiant set. Or they sell just the knobs without the latch, which is worthless. That’s a good way to lose loyal business. I’m happy with this product, and they should start stocking the things in store again.

The opening for the spindle is too small - not as advertised. I should have paid attention to some of the other reviews.

Works well, easy to install. The only difficulty was getting my 100 year old doorknob spindle through the hole. I had to try different angles before it finally fit through. Don't give up.

Worked great as a replacement for an older style split spindle latch for my original door in my 1940's house

The measurements were not true. I have spent hours trying to file it down to a true 9/32

As advertised, worked fine.

having a very hard time finding door hardware for jeld-wen french doors . home depot and jeld-wen don't show any hardware that fits these doors. very frustrated. would not recommend this product to ANYONE.poor quality and no product support.
