Spindles did not have pilot holes pre-drilled for wood screws used to attach spindles to the support rail. Screws that were sunk off-center often split the decorative tapered end of a spindle. Replacement spindles are available for repair but it is kinda silly purchasing a rail that requires repair. This problem has an easy fix. Create a jig with two holes that can slide across a rail being assembled. The jig would contain two holes and self-centers over a spindle so holes can be drilled.

A deadline caused the need for pre assembled but; spindles unevenly positioned, some warped over 1". 2 rail boards were warped when milled so thicker on one end than the other by 1/2". Spindles split due to screws being to close together. If you go this route, be sure to pick out your own. Project ok but pick out or build your own. Lack of quality control during assembly.
