I was expecting a lot more from this. I've turned it on in the coolest part of the night and for 2-3 hours. Barely brought down the temperature in my house. For the price I think my floor fans in front of an open window did as well.

Pretty quiet - that was my main concern. Installation instructions are sort of generic, so it’s not really a project for a novice DYIer. Only negative was the dampers weren’t painted, just shiny galvanized steel which glare down thru the 1/2x1/2 grille openings. So they need a shot of dark spray paint (before you install it) just to give the job a pro look. I went with the smallest fan because it’s just serving an enclosed porch. Bonus was it didn’t require a special switch because motor is single speed.
If the dampers had been painted I’d have given all 5 stars.

Easy to install, and moves alot of air for our 1800 sqft home. High speed and low speed is nice. Would recommend the rf wallmount switch aswell, madd install that much easier. Best part is turning it on in the evening and getting the stale warm air out and getting the fresh night air in.

Nice whole house fan. I wish it had 2 speeds instead of 1 but it’s powerful and does the job. Our home is 2000 square feet.

Highly recommend attic fans - best investment BUT Do not use the guide - I wish I had bought bigger
My home is 2187sq ft and just 3 bedrooms and this fan said it was good up to 2200 sq ft. It does not create near as much as my old fan that needed replacing. definitely go bigger than the stated recommendations. It is not worth the savings after paying install. I also did not receive it close to the deliver by date and had to push my contractor out twice. So allow time!

I have a fairly large attic space and it made the installation very easy. It's still a 2 man job for sure. The fan itself works better than I expected. It's quiet and pulls a ton of air through the windows across the house. I don't know if its because of my large attic and ventilation volume causing it to work so well? I can tell you, I couldn't be happier with the way it performs. It's awesome!

Quiet and efficient
I was unsure about this fan in particular because it is a 1 speed NOT 2 speed and called Mfg about whether it is as quiet as 2 speed fan, he said it was. I have it installed about 2 weeks now and it is almost unnoticeable it is that quiet. I installed a 1/2/4/8 hour timer switch, already had an old style whole house fan so I already had sufficient exhaust in the attic. But now the noise level went from my old style "helicopter" level to his super quiet fan. The old fan had slightly more air flow but the noise trade off is no comparison. Highly recommend.

Great purchase!
I already have some solar panels on my home, but over the last 4-5 years i noticed my PG&E bill getting more expensive. I checked out buying more solar panels but decided not to go that route. Instead i purchased the QuietCool whole house fan and i am very glad i did. It is a great option to solar. No regrets.

A Great Improvement!
This was a massive improvement over the existing whole house fan. No more rattling louvers when running, no more having to cover the fan with insulation every fall and uncovering it in the spring. The ceiling louver is unobtrusive and all you hear when it's running is the air movement and a low hum from the fan.

This fan was installed at the top of my staircase to move the air in my 1700 square foot 1885 farm house. It is quiet and effective. Quite often I turn it on for 5 minutes in the middle of the night to cool the bedroom. You can stand there and feel the air cool. I think the extra investment was worth it.

Although half the size of my old fan, even on low it moves the air more efficiently and without the loud noise. It’s actually more fan than I need for my 2400 sq. ft. ranch. Check the installation instructions carefully before you purchase the fan. Pick your install location and map out your plan. It makes things so much easier if you’re a DIY’ER like me. That being said, the installation was easy. A little pricey for a fan but I’m very happy with the results.

Not really suitable for rooms up to 736 sf
I purchased a QuietCool 1472 CFM Classic Advanced Whole House Fan and it didn't working as advertised. On the hope depot web site, it says it is "Suitable for rooms up to 736 sq. ft". But when I called the manufacturer and told them that I installed it in a 700 square foot room and that it wasn't working well, their representative said that it is undersized for a room that size and that it was really more appropriate for a bathroom fan (which is ridiculous based on its physical size and cost). I looked around on their web site and found that their documentation says that it should work in rooms as big at 736 square feet as well, so the Home Depot web site is consistent with the manufacturer's marketing material. But it seems like their marketing material is inconsistent with what their representative says. I'm not sure if the fan is defective or if it is just undersized. I confirmed that the attic ventilation is more than adequate, so the problem is not due to attic ventilation. I don't have a way to measure cubic feet per minute, but it seems to me like it isn't moving that much air. 1472 per minute is 25 cubic feet per second which should exchange a volume of air of a cube about 2.9 feet on a side every second. I did a test to see how strong the air flow was by putting a small piece of light styrofoam near the intake. I had to get it within about 3 to 4 inches before the styrofoam was pulled up to the intake. That doesn't seem consistent with a volume flow rate of a 3 foot cube every second to me. Also, I feel only a light breeze when I open a single window. I feel more air flow when I point a $50 floor fan out in another window.
