Exceed expectation
I waited for months, after several rains before writing this review even though I like the look and the ease of installation right after it arrived. Now we had a few rains, I can say that this rain barrel is perfect! It looks great. Up close, of course one would know that it's plastic. But from a couple of feet away, I had several visitors and neighbors fooled. The planter on top is a nice feature. Installation was straight forward. You do need to have a drill and a saw. But I read online manual before the product arrived, so the husband and I got the tools ready. The supplied hose was more than long enough. We bought 4 altogether, with one on the top level of our property, directly next to gutter. We had 3 more on the lower part of the property in the back, about 3 stories down (yes, we live in a very steep hill) and 75 feet away. We connected the top one with the lower set with an old hose. The lower three were connected just like instructed with included material. Then we waited for rain. Just like so many reviewers mentioned, we were surprised by how much water we collected from a short period of time. We had no problem filling up all 4 barrels each time it rains. I used the water to water my plants and am very satisfied that I'm doing something to conserve water. I think my plants are actually happier with rain water than with tap water. Oh, and yes. Our local government has incentives and promptly sent me a rebate after I filled out the form and sent them the invoice. So I spent very little on these! But now that I know how well these work, I would say that it's worth it even if you have to pay for them out of pocket.

Looks great - hope it works well
It looks great but I haven't set it up yet as the water diverter is designed for traditional rectangular downspout. & I have 3" round copper downspout. Adapters are available on Home Depot.

Waste of lots of money
I bought three last summer (2014). All three have split the seams!!! What a wate of money! They now hold less than 20 gals because of the seams that split. These are not one solid piece, and they cannot hold the weight of the water you put in them Why have a 60 gal barrel that cannot hold up to the weight of 60 gal of water?

Was delivered bent inwards- will it fix itself?
Someone please assist! Delivered today and it's like someone sat on the side! Bent inwards. Will it fix itself if filled w water? No way to touch inside unless I drill a hole into it.....

    Worth the extra money??
I paid the extra money for the planter. I thought my wife would like the planter part of the barrel. We like it, only the planter doesn't have a drain hole. I could see that being a problem. Hooking up the gutter was easy and I like the fact that there's no opening for mosquitoes to get in. To fill the barrel, the opening isn't any bigger than a hose. I just wonder if it will keep up in a heavy rain. With no large opening cleaning might become a problem.

    Beautiful and functional
We installed this on a gutter at the front of our house. The planter in the top looks lovely with flowers blooming in it. The rain barrel is really a nice shape, fully round (some others have a flat back to them). It has worked exactly as we hoped. It's only a month old, so I will re-post if we find it isn't durable. It seems really sturdy, though.

Free water - what's not to like?
A little tricky to set up (the instructions aren't the best). Now that it is set up it works really well. We placed it on some pavers so that it is raised an inch or two. Can't believe how quickly it fills up.

    Rain Barrel
The tube that runs from the diverter to the barrel kept popping out because it was trying to curl up into the position it was shipped in so I splinted to a metal rod with tape and now it's doing great. It filled up in the first rain storm so now I can water at will. I love the look of it much better than some of the barrels I've seen and appears to be more of a decoration than something so useful. Due to the location of the rain gutter we were restricted on it's location. Would like a longer tube.

    Big Mistake!!!
The adapter is poorly designed. Very easy to cut your fingers/hand while cutting the downspout. More water passes the barrel than goes into the barrel. I should have purchased a barrel with a better adapter. At this point there's too much of a hassle to return the item & repair the downspout.

    Needs some tweeks
The day after installation, we had very heavy rain. Water gushed up from the diverter, pouring out onto wall and window. The top part of the diverter is actually larger than my 4" x 6" downspout, and there is a gap where the downspout goes into the diverter. How to seal??? Also, the idea of a planter on top is nice, but I'm more in favor of plugging that small hole instead to keep dirt/soil out of the rain barrel. Overall, attractive but does take up space.

    Great product for beginners
For a first time user of rain barrels, this product was very easy to install. The hose provided is pretty cheap, but otherwise this is a great value and I will recommend it to others. Now, if we could only get some rain in Texas.

    Solid purchase
Had no troubles with assembly and it works great. Be advised the diverter requires a one ich piece of down spout to be cut out so you will need a hack saw

60 gal. terra cotta water urn rain barrel
I will be returning it to the store. Installation is beyond my capabilities and I haven't been able to find anyone who can do the installation. Sorry that I won't be able to keep this. The idea is great, but not for people who aren't handy with tools. Would only recommend to someone who has lots of tools and is able to take the time and effort to get it ready for use.

    Rain barrel.
The rain barrel is a lightweight plastic barrel that, overall, looks nice and decorative. As a DIYer, installing it was not too difficult. Following the instructions, I drilled a hole and put it in place. In my opinion, a hole should have already been predrilled. Then was a bit confused by the diverter's operation. I was expecting a mechanism that diverts all the water into the barrel and opens up when the barrel is full to let the water down the downspout. But there is no mechanism inside - it is a solid piece with a large hole inside in the middle. Water that falls on the side of the downspout may get captured through the little pipe on the side and go into the barrel while any water the flows in the middle of the downspout or overflows inside the diverter will continue through the hole and down into the downspout. As soon as it started raining, the diverter started overflowing and water started gushing out from the sides. Since there is no seal, it could not handle all the water and I had to duct-tape it. So far, with the duct tape, I have not had any issues. I am debating getting rid of the diverter, cutting a big hole into the barrel and redirecting the downspout drain directly into the barrel itself. Also, I am also not certain how to clean the barrel - there are two small holes - one for the spigot and another one for the tube from the diverter. So, cleaning any debris out may be a challenge.

    Not what I was expecting.
Was delighted with speedy delivery. Arrived before estimated date. I chose this particular decorative rain barrel because it looked like terra cotta in the picture and technically the color is terra cotta but it looks like a big plastic container in real life. My reason for choosing a "decorative" one is because my plan was to keep it on my patio. I'm not returning it, but might think about a different location. I haven't hooked it up and used it yet because of this but it actually looks like it will do the job.

Built well, but needed some adjustments to accommodate the water intake from the gutter. Now it works better!
I added another tube to the other side of the diverter to handle the water flow better. The tube that came with it was long enough to duplicate the existing grommet hole. Thus, I drilled another hole on the opposite side and fitted the other grommet into it. Then, drilled another intake hole in the urn to accommodate the tube from the diverter. Now the flow is quicker and backs up less. The only downside is the diverter gets clogged easy and the only way to clean it out is dismantle the diverter from the downspout and manually pull the debris out. They should develop an easy access cover plate with a gasket that seals it on the front of the upper diverter and have a couple of screws allowing you to open it then clear out debris without taking the thing apart every time. That would be a simple fix and improve the function. Otherwise, it holds a lot of water and does what I wanted it to do.

Great looking product; easy to install with all needed equipment
I absolutely love these rain barrels-and so does everyone who sees them. They look amazing-if I didn't know better, I would think they are terra cotta and the planter on top is a great accent. Even my brother who is a contractor, was impressed.
