Great radio but 1 major flaw.
This is a good radio, the size is perfect for on the jobsite, the reception is decent and it streams music from my phone with no problems at all. It lacks a handle or something to mount it to however, which is a big deal for me on a roof. Everything slides if it's not nailed or tied off to something. Ridgid screwed up on one little thing that makes a huge difference. After a minor surgery on this thing, I've fixed it so it works awesome for me. Ridgid take note.

Sounds amazing and having it charge my phone is a big plus! Used it the other day and I played over 12 hours of music; charged my phone to 100%; left the job with 2 bars left.

This is a great little radio and perfect for my garage! I love the fact that it is small and compact and can fit on my tool shelf. But don't let the small size fool you. It puts out a good amount of volume! The radio is just a bit wider than my 4ah battery I use with it and it puts out a nice clean sound. As a test, I let it run on the 4ah battery full charge and it lasted 24 hours and 10 minutes straight on the "radio" mode with low volume (7:50 am Saturday - 8:00 am Sunday). I'm not sure how that would have worked via the Bluetooth streaming or louder volume, but my phone would have probably died before it did. There is an app that you can download to control the volume, set the radio presets, and connect to music on your phone via Bluetooth. I will say that initially I thought that there was no way to control the volume on the speaker itself BUT thankfully after further inspection, I noticed that the power button actually rotates and controls the volume as well! Once I discovered that they had included this little detail in the design I was completely satisfied! Long story short, I'm so glad I don't have to keep "borrowing" my wife's Bluetooth speaker or worrying about this one getting dusty. We have hers staying inside and mine for in the shop and I'm way more confident that it is built to handle dust and lots of other shop conditions!
I used this recently while painting and I was impressed by the durability, radio reception signal and overall usability.
Some takeaways from my experience:
• Good AM/FM reception. AM can be sketchy at times with some radios but this one held up well while I was enjoying some sports talk radio.
• It’s small and easy to carry around. Very small footprint, which I love. Barely takes up any space in your tool bag. Also great to use outside, in the garage, bedroom, tailgating, etc.
• Easy to use and program. Probably one of the ‘easiest to use’ Radio‘s/Bluetooth’s you have ever owned.
• Bluetooth holds connection well. I got plenty to distance.
• This thing can take a beating. Built well and tough.
• No defects found on the radio.
• It will charge you smartphone. I truly love this feature!
• Aux in for those who don’t want to use Bluetooth.
• 18V battery is efficient on this radio.
• Sound quality is on par for this type of radio, size, and price point.
Overall, it’s a great, compact unit. I couldn’t recommend this one enough.

It’s better than the $39 one. It has better sound than the $39 one and it has Bluetooth, but it’s still slightly tin-ish sounding. I was hoping it was similarly sounding to the Milwaukee Bluetooth only speaker, but not quite. It’s also nearly twice the price of the $39 one. Is it worth the extra money? Probably not, but it is a little better
I gave this baby a complete run down pinning it against it's gen x4 predecessor. At max volume this little bad boy can reach a max db level of 85db (1foot away from speaker)super loud and clear with precise well defined bass. Unlike the x4 at max volume 75db and the not so predominant bass response. The new gen5 is stable to 60hz unlike the x4 at 70hz. It's loaded to the gills with more features that weren't available on the x4 like a 5v usb charging port, 10 FM/Am presets, bluetooth connectivity, bass and tremble adjustments, all packed in a 30% smaller case. Other great features like a clock and battery indicator. Expect a 2amp battery to last you a min of 8 hours on full volume. I think this has to be the loudest clearest little speaker Ridgid has ever made.
