It works; but may need to loosen set screws
Out of the box, they didn't work. I started to agree with the 1-star reviews that all noted they'd fire and then misfire repeatedly. Service dept. didn't fix it. Then I discovered that if you loosen the two Allen set screws near the tip just a half turn or so, they work fine. See picture for the screws to loosen a tad. Don't send it in for service because Ridgid didn't fix it. Works better than dewalts because it fires instantly instead of revving up a moment before firing. Super easy to clear out jams too with the easy release top of the tip. Great design!

Time saver!
Quick and easy to use. Great time saver vs traditional nailing. Put up siding and paneling fairly efficiently. After the first 100 or so nails the gun seemed to have trouble reading the nails, issue was fixed after pulling the nails out and reseating them in place. Pairs well with a 4 ah battery, anything heavier and it may fatigue you. I would recommend the LED light to be raised and leaned forward to provide a better view of exact nailing location.

I think its going to be hit or miss out of the box
Out of the box the gun looks and feels great. I love that it has a small pointed no-mar tip to protect the wood from the gun. However the nailer I bought didn't work flawlessly out of the box. It locked up when I tried to fire it the first few times so I thought it needed some lubrication on the hammer. The touch of oil fixed the lock up but it still has issues. It lacks the power to drive 2" nails for liners. I really wanted this gun to work for me but it doesn't. Had for ask for my money back.

If it works it could be ok!
Purchased one brand new out of Home Depot. Used it for 20 min. Shot about 30pc 18 gauge nails before nailer completely stopped working.

Amazing
I decided to close in my hen house before the snow flies this winter. I used 1 11/2 inch and 5/8 inch brad nails and a 2 ah battery. I shot 700 1 1/2 nails and 400 plus 5/8 nails on one battery. The only thing I don't like about it is the 5 nail count stop. Ryobi airstrike does the same thing. When theres 5 nails left the gun won't fire again. In some instances that would be good. But I prefer emptying the mag before stopping. I dump the 5 and pop in another stick. Absolutely an amazing tool. Good job ridgid. Look close and you'll see the star of this picture.

This is a really nice easy to use brad nailer. I loaded with 9/16" brad nails as well as 2" for the use test and it performed great with both, easy to load nails into the tool. I was very impressed with the power, it can be adjusted to meet the demands of the material and nail size you are using. The drill depth is also adjustable, you can leave the nail head showing or drive all the way into the material.
It has a perfectly positioned light that helps brighten dark areas. The tool itself is heavy, adding the battery (not included) to the tool doesn't seem to have much impact to the overall weight and the batteries are pretty light weight.
In the end I think this tools is awesome for DIY or smaller jobs. For large jobs it will probably be too heavy and a air nailer might be better. The tool is awesome and performs to the standards you would expect form Ridgid.
This RIDGID 18 Volt Lithium Ion brushless cordless 18 gauge 2-1/8 inch brad nailer is a handy tool for the home or shop. The best thing about this nailer is that you don’t need to have a small compressor on hand, just a freshly charged battery. This nailer is perfect for finish work like door or floor moldings. It is not light weight but is lighter than an air compressor operated pneumatic nail gun. I have a few 2 A/Hr. batteries and they don’t add much weight. This nail gun holds 105 18 gauge brad nails from 5/8 inch to 2 1/8 inches in length. The gun has a no-mar rubber tip to prevent marring softer woods. To Adjust for the nail length and hardness of the wood use the drive power knob on the top of the nailer. There is also a fine depth adjustment knob. The nailer can be set by a switch to single sequence actuation or contact actuation. I also like how easy it is to clear a jammed nail from the head, just lift the lever and the head opens to remove a jammed nail. I was surprised it did not come with a Ridgid 636181001 Belt Clip. Its handy to slip the nail gun in your belt instead of having to put it down especially if you are on a ladder. It even has a handy LED light built in. I am very pleased to add this versatile tool to my collection and it works with all the Ridgid 18 Volt batteries. Be sure to register your tool within 90 days to get the full lifetime warranty .

I can't stress how nice it is to not have a coiled or straight air hose to deal with! This Ridgid 18 volt brad nailer is great for my needs in the shop. I'm not a commercial or even professional woodworker. I make or install much of my own trim around the house and I make some smaller furniture, valances, and other decor. Having a versatile brad nailer that isn't tethered to an air comprrsssor has been wonderful (I imagine a professional would be even more impressed) and I can't recommend this one enough. It has depth and pressure adjustments to dial in the appropriate amounts you need for your project and ergonomics are comfortable. Compatibility with my other 18 volt Ridgid batteries means I don't have to buy new batteries, too. The see-through cartridge helps to know how many nails you have remaining which is a bonus.
The only downsides I have experienced is the weight and light. I have been using my 6ah Octane battery (this isn't an Ocatane tool so it doesn't have to be an Octane battery) and the nailer can get a little heavy after extended use. For the light, simply pit, it doesn't work. The light shines above the nail head so you can't really see where it is when it's dark. But let's be honest.. who is installing trim or building cabinets in the dark anyway?

I was very impressed with the power of this cordless variety. I did not have any misfires or any nails that did not go in all the way.
Most of the other reviews commented on how this was lightweight. I actually found it to be pretty heavy for a brad nailer. It was easily 3x the weight of my air compressor varieties. However, it does seem to be very well made and seems like it would last a long time.
I used this nail gun with a 4AH 18 volt battery. It lasted an extremely long time. I long finished my baseboard project long before it ran out of power. I would have had to recharge my air compressor a few times in the same time period. The convenience of not using an air compressor is priceless.
One difference between the cordless and one that uses an air compressor is that this tool has a slight delay after you squeeze the trigger to shoot a nail. That took some getting used to.

RIDGID 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 18-Gauge 2-1/8 in. Brad Nailer (Tool Only) with CLEAN DRIVE Technology
Wow, I really love this tool.
It’s light weight and could be carried around all day if necessary.
I couldn’t wait to use it because I don’t have to have a noisy compressor and a long hose to fight with and trip over all day long.
Plus without the hose i can flip it from one side to the other quickly. This thing is a game changer for sure.
It will shoot 5/8” to 2 1/8” nails.
The overall length without a battery is about 10 long
It does not come with a belt clip but it does have a place to put one if you want to add it.
It fits my large hands very well and this tool can easily be used by left or right handed people.
The light at the front definitely makes it easier when working in tight spaces.
You can set it to shoot one nail at a time or you can set it where you just hold down the trigger and it will shoot every time you push the nose down onto a workpiece.
Overall I really like this tool and I can’t wait to use it again and again.
Ridgid makes some really good tools and this one is a home run for sure.
I would definitely recommend this tool to anyone.

This thing works great right out of the chute, a pro-quality tool. I used an existing Ridgid battery I own, and had at it. Tried it out with four different size nails, 1 ¼” to 2”. Other than some slight adjustments to the power dial as I got longer, it worked very efficiently on all sizes. Tool seems heavy at first, especially if you're using it for a long time, but compared to being attached to a hose, it's pretty fabulous. Works for all styles and sizes of trim. Works for wood fencing. Also great for those touchy little repairs that come up occasionally. This is a nice tool...glad I have it (I do wish it came with a carrying case, tho’).
This kit costs professional but delivers closer to the DIY level. I say DIY because the charger has a cord that is so cheap/delicate that I can't imagine it surviving anywhere but plugged in at home. Honestly, the wire is 1/16" thick. Additionally, the nail-jam access is half plastic and has a screw threaded into so it ends up delicate, as well. The bare tool is marginal but you should definitely avoid the kit.

Our crew standardized on another battery tool brand years ago and we've gotten our money's worth from them. Looking at replacements, we've been evaluating other brands, and Ridgid is among the short list preferences for our field guys. Nail guns are a good acid test for a battery tool trial because they require a little more care and finesse than drills and saws.
Our first impression is that this thing is tougher than nails. It's quite heavy for a trim nailer but that appears to translate to durability. We're not wild about the plastic nail magazine loader, but it operates smoothly and latches securely. It includes a convenient separate LED light switch.
We nailed a few dozen different length brads into wood, plastic, and plaster without one misfire. The rotary control for depth of drive is linear and intuitive, although the center setting seems to work well for common lengths and materials. While it's a little bulky in the front, it will tuck into most spaces. Actuation is selectable for either single trigger firing or sequential contact firing (as long as the trigger is depressed). I can't speak to battery life as of yet, but the standard 1.5 Ah battery charges very quickly. Construction seems solid with high end plastics and a good ratio of metal components.

This is their latest model and they have built of the success of their past tankless air products and added the longevity and durability of the tool by going burshless on the motor. They claim that it will go 3,500 nails on a single battery, though I didn't shoot 3,500 to test it out...
This seems to be a very well built and solid performing nailer. It is relatively light-weight and compact, and when using the on tool adjustments, provides a very smooth shot.
See Video for a quick look at the nailer

Also going to be great for those touchy little repairs that come up occasionally. Note: If you've never used one of these tools, read the manual very carefully; once the battery is attached, this tool is very touchy, and potentially very dangerous. That being said, it sure is a nice tool. Glad I have it (I do wish it came with a carrying case).

Really great Brad nailer, it’s 18 V uses the same battery as some other rigid tools that I have, it’s very lightweight. I’m going to be using it when we do the baseboards around the house.I tested it out it works very fast and powerful and it is cordless, which means no wires hanging all over the floor to trip on or those gas cartridges. It is very light weight and compact. I’m sure I will be using this quite often when the only things up around the house, it’s a great thing to have.

A great 18 gauge nail driver. Fully adjustable for depth and power for specific applications. I use it for cabinet making to attach trim. I'm a big fan of battery powered tools and the rigid 18 volt series is great for professionals and prosumers like me. A nice step up from my pneumatic tools. The unit has a bit of heft to it which means it will do well on a jobsite. Good ergonomics with a safety that engages easily with normal use (you don't even realize your using it). Good life with the 4 Ah battery. For me several days of nailing while building cabinets. Full time use is about 4 hours of constant nailing.

This Nailer is a super tool. Rigid has topped themselves. I like the fact that I'm not dragging a hose all over when I need to do a small project. This tool is just like the air tools only better. The first time I used it, I nearly jumped out of my skin, It has a light on it and it came on and startled me. This 18 gauge nailer is perfect for trim work in any environment. I use mine with a 5 Ah battery and it is a beast. (Heavy). But the portability out weights the weight of the nailer. Its easy to load and the gauge on the side of the magazine tells you what size of nails are in the nailer just in case the person you lent it to forgot to unload it. I don't think I'm gonna be lending this to anyone anytime soon. This is a great tool to have access to when you are doing molding around the top of the room. No hoses to drag anywhere. No loud compressor bustin your ears. I have been using mine around for small jobs and I can hardly wait to try it out on a large job where I have to change out batteries and see how it does. For now I am psyched on how well it works. It is made well and very easy to use. Y'all need to get one and try it out for your self.

I have owned a few nail guns, both pneumatic and electric. My preference is electric. Plus if I could only own one size of nail gun, it would be the 18 gauge. The Ridgid 18V, 18 gauge brushless nail gun meets all my needs. Whether I am repairing a fence or making a picture frame, this will do the job. With the nail range from 5/8 inch to 2 1/8 inch it can handle most jobs. Additionally this nailer has both a power control and a drive depth control which gives you even more control. You also have a built in work light and a belt clip than can be put on either side. Add in the lifetime warranty and that makes this another Ridgid power tool that is hard to beat.

The RIDGID 18V LITHIUM-ION BRUSHLESS CORDLESS 18-GAUGE 2-1/8 IN. BRAD NAILER (TOOL ONLY) WITH CLEAN DRIVE TECHNOLOGY is a great tool. My product arrived undamaged and with all instruction manuals. The tool did not come with batteries, a charger or brad nails-so I made a trip to my local Home Depot and purchased a battery set and different size brad nails. The tool performed beautifully and worked very smoothly. The depth and power adjustment dials operated very smoothly as well. The battery is easy to install too. I really like the cordless feature-no air compressor or air hose to drag around. The tool may be a bit heavy for some people-but it's not too much to handle for the average owner. I highly recommend this tool-it's a great product and I will be using it considerable to install additional baseboards in my garage/mancave and any other trim products that arise.

This brad nailer is a great, great tool. It's light for a nail gun, especially a cordless one. It's RIDGID's signature orange color, and has sleek styling. I simply used one of my existing 18V RIDGID batteries and it worked seamlessly.
It has the signature LED light activated using a button on the handle - it's super bright. The nail port is easily accessed with a release button at the bottom. The nailer has 2 settings, contact actuation and single sequential actuation mode, easily toggled back and forth via a switch at the base of the handle. It also has a power adjustment knob on the right side of the contact sensor area to control power and depth of nail penetration.
Lastly, it's backed by the lifetime warranty - the best in the business. Very happy with this tool.
The RIDGID model #R09891B is a powerful brushless and cordless powered motor, 18-gauge 5/8” to 2 1/8” brad nailer (tool only) with RIDGID CLEAN DRIVE technology. The “tool only” designation meaning that does not come with the rechargeable battery and charger so that saves you money in the long run without duplicating these two items if you have them already from other 18-volt RIDGID cordless tools. This brad nailer is great in ease to use and for portability as it is battery operated and does not need a compressor, airline, compressor oil, nor gas cartridge as found in the other style brad nailer guns. In fact, the manufacturer states that is cordless brad nailer is more compact and lighter weight as to the previous model. This brad nailer uses the same battery, charger, and battery-to-tool mounting connection as found on other Ridgid cordless tools. So, the 18-volt rechargeable battery and its charger that are used to power other Ridgid tools such as the drill, bandsaw, jigsaw, impact, reciprocating saw, radio, etc. is interchangeable and can be used on this brad nailer tool too thereby saving you money. The manufacturer states that you can shoot 3,500 brad nails on just one 4.0 Ah battery charge which is fantastic! This cordless brad nailer has many great features such as accurate depth control to protect the work surface from overdriving the brad too deep and an easy brad jam release to clear any brad jams that might occur. One of the great highlights of this nailer is the “Dry-Fire Lockout” feature and operates when the brad nailer magazine has 0-5 nails remaining as it will not allow the nailer to continue to operate until the magazine is reloaded with brads. It has a built-in LED (Light Emitting Diode) light that helps to illuminate the work area, so you have a clear view while you are using the tool. The LED also provides the user with feedback to indicate whether the battery pack is charged sufficiently and/or if the tool is functioning properly. It also has a tool brad setting that allow you to select two modes of operation, contact actuation (rapid fire “bump” mode when tool nose touches work surface) or single sequential activation (shoots one brad per pull of the trigger when tool nose touches work surface). The best feature of this tool is that if you register the tool with 90 of purchase it is covered by a Lifetime Service Agreement (SLA) which includes free parts (example: free seals, free pistons, free driver blade) and free service for the life of the tool! This brad nailer is great for saving time and doing professional installation work on shoe molding, wainscoting, paneling, finish and trim, baseboard, crown molding, chair rail, etc. especially where neatness counts in the finished product. It should be noted that 18-gauge brad nails are used for trim work and not for structural framing. The unit comes with 2 non-marring pads, a handy belt clip for carrying the tool, and an operating manual. Since it is a “tool only”, the 18-volt rechargeable battery and charger can be purchased separately if needed. This cordless brad nailer rounds out the RIDGID cordless tool line in a truly professional way! Way to go!! As always, wear safety glasses when using an air nailer!

The Ridgid 18v 18-gauge brad nailer showed up just in the nick of time; just as I was finishing up a rustic-wood wall and my years-old Ryobi nailer was starting to show its age. So far I've only shot 1-1/4" brads - and only in trigger mode - but I can tell already this is a huge improvement over my old tool (which in itself was fantastic). Size and weight - I was hoping it would come in a little lighter than my old gun, but equipped with a 4AH battery it comes in just under 7 lbs - almost exactly the same as the older gun. Ultimately, though... it's just more precise. And more powerful.

So good, it replaced my other nailer! This is a very well made nailer. I had used another brand for a couple years and got tired of jams. Even changing brands of 18-gauge nails didn’t help. So I got the RIGID nailer and I have been very pleased. I have used it for the past few days and have not had the first jam. Even with two different brands of nails. The gun has two ‘triggers,’ one to shoot nails and one for the excellent LED light that brightens your work item. The nail strips load very easily and never jam when you close the magazine. The depth adjustment is exactly where you want it and is very accurate for any job. The selector for one or multiple shots works easily and this nailer also has something I’ve never seen before - it has a ‘power’ adjustment. You can rotate the dial on the rear of the gun to adjust for shooting into oak, or roll it back for pine. I have not yet kept track, but I suspect it will also increase my battery life. I love it!
