Perfect after blade adjustment and mobile base
Blades were about .005" too high from factory. Cut perfectly straight after blade adjustment. No infeed/outfeed table shimming needed. I bolted mine to a heavy frame made from 4x4s and set that frame into a ShopFox D2057A mobile base. Now it's the right height, mobile, and quite stable (low center of gravity = no tipping).

    Solid product excellent price
Love this machine, very heavy and well made. I think they could charge more money for this especially if you look at comparable units. Get the $57 bora mobile base kit for it though so it’s easier to clean and move around

      Nice Machine
I have had the jointer for a couple months now. The jointer works well once it is installed. It does take some work and muscle to get everything lifted and set up properly. Only complaint is the feet. It really needs to be on a platform with lockable casters. It would make the jointer more stable overall. But if you are handy, you can add those to the jointer yourself. Jointer seems short. Shipping was a nightmare but I do not blame Home Depot for that but it is something to keep in mind.

        Great jointer
Very satisfied with this jointer. Instructions were easy to follow and took no time to assemble. After properly fine tuning the jointer, it works very well and suits my everyday needs. I ordered a mobile base for mine so it can be moved around the shop with ease. I think down the road I will be replacing the cutter head with a helical type cutter head for noise reduction and cut quality. I also think the helical head will help with the chute clogging up less frequently. I would also recommend waxing the entire chute to help with that issue. “Overall sir, IT WILL CUT”.

        Hobby quality with pro price.
OK quality, the fence is not perfectly square to the table and can not made to be as the fence itself is not perfectly flat and level. but its so small that it really makes little difference for most hobby work. it was easy to convert to 220V as per instructions and it does make the motor more peppy. Plenty of power. The stock blades are of questionable quality as one had a chip on it even after a single use. Overall its an OK product for the hobbyist but the priced like a pro product.

Great jointer for the price. Mine needed the blade's adjusted but otherwise it works very well. Way better than the bench top that I had.

          Ridigid 6-1/8 in Jointer/Planer
First, this planner/router is heavy for it’s size. I did set it up by myself but do recommend that you get someone to help. I don’t think that there is anything on the market at this price point that is better. It’s packed well with clear enough instructions. All the hardware is in a blister pack that keeps everything separate. It has a 4” dust collection port so I’m going to try a shop vac with a 4x2 1/2 reducer but will most likely need to upgrade to a dust collection system.

            Very solid
Tables are very accurate for this price point. Coplaner within .002”. Solid fence mechanism stays square and locked. All of the above are the Achilles heel of budget/benchtop jointers and RIDGID really excels here. It’s over 200 pounds - definitely want to add casters. Solid build and strong 1 HP motor. Want it for half off? Wait for the periodic sale for a couple hundred off. Then open a credit card offering $200 credit if you spend $500 in the first 90 days (there are several).

                Best budget jointer
Assembly took about 2 hours with one person but I would recommend having a second person as some of these pieces are extremely heavy. After assembly, squaring of the fence was easy enough using a youtube video. after squaring it worked flawless. adjustment screws on the fence allows for quick adjustments between 90 degrees, 45 and 10 degrees. So far I've used pine material with no issues. edges are square as they should be. For such a large piece of equipment it is fairly quiet until your material goes into it. Cutting adjustments are a breeze with the adjustment knob. I will be adding a mobile base as this thing is heavy and can be out of balance after moving a lot. This is a must for small woodshops and entry level businesses alike.

It's a great Jointer! I bought this from Home Depot in December 2020. I have a Rigid table saw and I am very happy with it so when I went to buy a Jointer I went with the Rigid and I'm so glad I did. The directions were very easy to follow. It took me about 2 hours to set up. It is heavy and I have a small shop so I ended up installing the Bora Universal mobile base kit on it. I would recommend doing this if you have to move it around.

Nice machine, it’s made in Taiwan, I've had it for just about a month. Assembly went well. A word of caution, review the instructions before removing the cast iron from the box, as they advise setting the in-feed / out-feed casting, on 4 X 4’s; there is a standing roll pin that acts as a stop for the rotating safety guard, so don’t set it down on a flat surface as this roll pin could get damaged. You'll also want a fuller compliment of tools than their suggested list, i.e. sockets, long extensions etc. Once I had it assembled I flipped on the switch and it came right on, curiously I came back a little later and flipped on the switch and it didn’t move, I got a electrical hum as the motor was stuck. Checking the motor turned freely by hand, to resolve the problem I had to adjust the belt tension (loosen) and then got it going – I let it run for several minutes, no problems since. Out of the box I had no problems with flatness or parallelism of the in-feed to out-feed, and once the fence was set to 90, checking with a Brown & Sharp Square it repeats to 90, my test piece was nice and square. You do want a good dust collector, mine is rated at 750 cfm. For the money the jointer it’s a 5 star machine.

Easy assembly and mirror smooth cuts! I bought this jointer in part based on the May 2020 Wood magazine review, where it was ranked as a very good performer and the top value. The assembly instructions were clear and well written, pictures were helpful, parts clearly identified, and everything was packed securely. I put the whole thing together by myself in a little more than an hour. Having another person would have been helpful at a couple of points, but obviously not essential. Once assembled, it is very sturdy. It needed a very minor and easy adjustment to the 90 degree stop on the fence, but the tables were perfect out of the box. I've run just a few boards through it so far, but it made quick work on some very dense 2" by 6" burr oak. The boards were rough cut and some were a bit warped and twisted. A few passes over the jointer and the sides and faces really are mirror smooth. Even the 6 inch face of this tough wood did not bog the motor down at all. I put together a 6 inch PVC dust collector fitting to hook up to my dust collector system. It easily mounts using the threaded mounts on the jointer, and grabs all the shavings. Even though I haven't had it long or used it much, I think this is a great tool at a great price.

I bought this based on the overall positive review. I've used mine about 6 times so far and out of the box this is a beast. Both in feed and outfeed came aligned correctly from the factory and the fence gets aligned by you. I took my time and mine perfect within. 001" you literally have to spend twice as much to get anything close to this. The unit is heavy and does a good job. If you are using bug heavy slabs I suggest anchors to the floor.

This is my first jointer and so far, I love it. I just got it a few days ago and have edge jointed quite a few boards already. In the last 5 months or so I have begun to get serious about woodworking. Before getting this jointer I was edge jointing boards on my table saw using a jig I made. It worked pretty well but if the board was longer than four feet or so it was quite cumbersome. Using this jointer is so much easier, although I'm sure longer boards would still be difficult, but a lot easier than on the tablesaw. Today I edge jointed the boards for the lower cabinet of a gun cabinet I am making. When I was finished the jointed edges basically disappeared when I put them together for a test fit. That's the way it should be and so much easier than using a jig with a tablesaw, and undoubtedly a bit more accurate. I considered buying a bench top model but I reconsidered because they are too lightweight, short in length, and would be cumbersome for any board longer than 30 inches or so. My thought was, that if any tool in my shop could benefit from being a little bigger and a lot heavier, a jointer would be that tool. So I pulled the trigger on this rather than a baby bench top model and I am so glad I did. It didn't hurt that it was on sale for $100 off either. At full price it would have been harder to talk myself into it. Assembly is a piece of cake for a big strong young buck, but I am almost 63 years old with two bad knees who is just trying to not catch the Coronavirus so I was afraid to even have my neighbor help out. But I am stubborn and persistent, and I was able to do it myself by taking all the pieces out of the box except for the table itself, going slow and thinking my way through it. Quality seems to be quite good, maybe not what you would expect from a $5000 industrial model, but for $599 I am not complaining. Out of all my other stationary power tools, with none of them being bargain basement quality, but not high end, Festool type quality either, this tool has by far the most solid and precise feel to it. I would definitely buy this again and highly recommend it.

Happy with the tool but LSA confirmation is a drag
Delivery guys were helpful in bringing the box round to my back lane to get it into my garage. Everything was very well packed and organized. My only issue was there were no instruction manual. Not a big deal as I found one easily online. I did not assemble it for a month due to the cold but have initiated the registration for the LSA (big factor in me choosing Ridgid tools – note, the serial # is on the backside of the outfeed table). Now three weeks later and I am still waiting for confirmation. I called after two weeks and was told it can take up to four weeks. The LSA is great but in my experience if you don’t follow up you don’t get confirmation. This is the reason for losing one star. Assembled it last weekend. The individual items are very nicely and carefully packaged. Assembly is fairly simple but the motor and bed are super heavy. Strongly recommend the motor mounting upside down, it is the only way you can access the bolts to tighten them. Have only run it a few times. It was easy to set up and get the fence at 90degrees and following waxing the beds I face planed some rough pine followed by walnut. Edging the boards gave great results. There was minimal sawdust and I found the sawdust port was blocked so it was all collecting under the bed. All in all I am pleased with the tool. It looks great and initial operational impressions are very good. Just need to finalize the LSA….

Pretty much my favourite power tool in my workshop
Like many woodworkers, one of the things we all want to do is perfectly mill some 2x4s to laminate them together to make a workbench top, and a jointer planer is the best place to do that. I love this machine! The satisfaction you get when you've drawn a pencil squiggle on the bottom of your 2x4 (to check it all gets planed) and run it over the jointer is amazing. It comes off smooth as butter. There's always the debate over whether to get a jointer or a thickness planer first - the answer is most definitely the jointer. It's a beast and can handle 2x6s too which is awesome. Highly, highly recommend.

I've been waiting for this Ridgid Jointer/Planer to become available online for a while. Apparently they are available only in small batches. As soon as I saw it was available online I ordered one for $599. The next day the price dropped to $549. I contacted Home Depot to ask for a credit on the price and they did it without hesitation. Great customer service! Instructions to assemble the jointer was easy to understand. The jointer motor runs really smooth and quiet. The only loud noise came from the plastic dust chute vibrating against the metal side. I used foam weather stripping between the plastic and metal and the noise as eliminated. Since I use my garage as a workshop I put it on a mobile base so I can move it out of the way when not in use. Depending on your dust collection system it is hard to find the correct coupling. I took the plastic dust chute to the local woodworking store and found exactly what I needed. The jointer makes perfect 90 degree joints. I used a framing square to get the fence dialed in instead of using the provided plastic square. Don't rush the wood pieces through the jointer. Use a steady push and your wood pieces will be straight and smooth. The long cast iron front and rear tables keep the work piece absolutely level. Even though it has a narrow width it was perfect for my needs. I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it to other woodworkers who need something slightly bigger than a tabletop jointer. It gives professional grade results without the professional grade price.

                    Awesome Jointer
I finally bought one of these things, been eyeing it for awhile.Building was easy. I did it in 2 hrs moving at two speeds, slow and stop. One could do this in an hr if they moved along. It is heavy so beware. The directions have you build upside down, just when it comes time to fit the belt, flip it over and let the motor do most of the work. Give it a slight push to tighten the belt and tighten the bolts. Also its easier to tighten the motor bolts if you leave the back panel off. The directions say put it on 1st, then do the belt but reverse those.

First thoughts: It is better than what I expected. The perfect length bed for most projects. The fence can be fine tuned to get an accurate 90 degrees. Don't forget to set that locking nut! Be sure to hook up your favorite dust collection to this jointer before you have a huge mess. It does it's job well. Assembly: The instructions at one point were mirrored backward but no big deal. I wondered why there weren't any instruction on YouTube, but when I started putting it together it answered my question. Very easy to assemble. The stand makes it very easy to build a custom platform or put casters onto it. Dust Collection: Dust collection is fine but you will have to plug up some minor areas with duct tape or else you will have dust coming from the bottom and sides. Not much, but you will still have some chips through the screw slots that lock the motor. Nothing is full dust proof when it comes to wood though. Maintenance: After blowing out the dust and left over wood debris, I use Paste Wax on the fence and table when not in use. I'm going to make or buy a cover to block most of the moisture. The blades are very sharp and should last at least a year with moderate use. They are not expensive to replace or sharpen if you have the right tools. Some Cons: I don't like or use the push blocks or plastic 90 degree level. I use a couple of Smart Hook Pushblocks from GRR-Ripper. I don't like how wobbly the in-feed turn knob is. A rubber washer will do the trick on fixing that though. There was a slight lip on the end of the out-feed that I had to file down with a very fine file. I'm sure not all come this way. Be sure to set the 240v wiring before mounting the motor. Once it is assembled it isn't very easy getting to the motor to change this option. Overall: Before buying I thought it was very expensive, but after assembling and using the jointer, I have since changed my opinion. It's worth every dollar you spend especially with the Lifetime Service Agreement Warranty. It's priceless. There really isn't any cheap plastic parts to the main tool. (Accept the push blocks and 90 degree tool) I expect years of use and enjoyment from this fine tool.

I am a retired wood shop teacher and licence home improvement contractor. I needed to replace my 50 year old jointer, after researching several jointers I selected the the ridged 6" jointer. The assembly instructions were good and it was easy to assemble. I did need to fine tune the fence to get it perfectly square with the table, but that is expected with any piece of equipment. The first time I used it was to straight boards to put wainscoting in a dinning room. I was very pleased with the performance of the jointer. I did buy the base so that I could wheel it out of the way when I was not using it.

VERY QUIET, EASY TO SET UP WITH 2 PEOPLE. CUTS A VERY CRISP SHARP EDGE. ADJUSTMENT WORKS GREAT FOR REMOVING A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF WOOD. IT WORKS EVEN BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. Once I removed the protective film and and wiped the machine bed surface of it rusted overnight in my shop. I cleaned it all up with steel wool and applied a coat of good car wax to all raw metal surfaces and has been clean ever since
