Didn’t perform as well as other rotary hammers or alike. It seemed like more of a tool for crafts than a construction or demolition tool

  • Works great needs LEDs and belt clip
  • June 12, 2019

Works great and has ability to work with other MegaMax tools. The drawbacks are that it has no LEDs for visibility of the work piece like most basic drills or sds drills. There is no belt clip for this head or the MegaMax base. It also claims to have an exclusive “chisel lock-on” mode. Also there is no vibration reduction on this or the Megamax base. All of these lacking features: 1) A Led light on the drill, 2) A belt clip, 3) vibration reduction, and the exclusive “chisel lock on” - can all be found on a different 18v platform for an sds-plus rotary hammer, even one in its “parent company brand family.” And No its not the red brand. Try a little more blue or green.

The purchase of this mega max SDS drill was a BIG disappointment. In the hammer mode it was not strong enough to remove a back splash. The drill is super heavy but packs a very light punch. Home Depot was not able to tell me if it was a bad design or a bad drill. It will cost me $20 if I send it i

This MegaMax head is sturdy and does a surprisingly good job for a battery tool. The SDS bits are superior to regular carbide-tipped bits in a conventional hammer drill chuck. Ridgid has added this commercial-quality tool to this series. I hope they will add more tool heads to the MegaMax base because it is a heavy-duty power head that could do more. It will deplete a small battery pretty quickly, so use it with a 4 or bigger amphour battery or have spares charged and ready. While this tool qualifies for the LSA at Ridgid, the registration process is cumbersome and involved. I have a lot of Ridgid battery tools and I like them; but they seem reluctant to let me just sign up for the LSA without a lot of steps.

Standard mode great chisel mode beyond imagination. Was able to dispatch an old foundation in a short time instead of hours. Bought a adapter for the regular drill bits went through redwood decking like nothing. Thanks rigid for a wellthought out power tool system

Octane SDS!!! Great attachment for the new MegaMax power base! Already used it to bore 1" holes through a solid poured foundation wall with no problem!! Heavy feel and rugged shell, coupled with the new 6 or 9ah batts makes this great new set up the first thing in my pack out!!
