This is the hose that Ridgid should have included with the original purchase of the shop vac! The original black hose was, more and more, starting to kink when you pulled the vac around an obstruction or changed the angle of the attachment to the floor. The new hose is much more flexible than the original, and it's longer (10 ft.) and is smoother inside so it has better airflow. The adapters that come with the hose let you use it with the smaller vacs as well as the larger vacs with 2 1/2 inch hose. I'm currently using the new hose on a 4-gallon vac that gets used for general household cleanup and I plan to buy another to replace the black hose on the 12-gallon vac I use in the wood shop. This more than met my expectations. I'd recommend this to anyone who owns a Ridgid vac!

Much better than original hose. For the money spent on vac, this hose should be standard equipment.

If you're like me and have one shopvac for several tools, get this hose! After dragging the shopvac around from tool to tool with the 6 ft. included hose I finally bought this extended adapter and it has made all the difference. Now the shopvac stays put and the hose does all the travelling.

Pros Easy to Use, Easy to Install, Good Size & Weight, Durable, Lots of Features

End of hose broke off on the second use. Home Depot exchanged it. The replacement broke in the same place on the third use. This is definitely not "Pro-grade". The weak link is the black end to the orange hose.

Pros: it doesn't collapse in on itself. It is very sturdy Cons: The pieces tend to disconnect by themselves while you are working...annoying.

Pros Sturdy Cons connections aren't strong

Great quality hose should last a long time. Only negative is I wish the diameter was the same as the original equipment hose. This one is slightly smaller.

Pros Durable Cons smaller diameter than original

  • why doesn't the vacuum come with this?

The hose is great, top quality. Although I would like it to be a few feet longer. I don't like that they give you a lousy quality one with the vacuum and you have to buy this one for almost $40 additional.
