  • This vac is one of the most practical and most valuable tools I have ever owned.

I am puzzled that this shop vac is no longer carried in the stores. It is one of the most practical and most valuable tools I have ever owned. It is reliable; The first one I used for 12 years before the hose wore out. Considering the cost of a new hose, I opted to buy a new vacume. It is practical and well designed; I appreciate the fact that all the attachments are stored inside making them harder to lose, and the cord impossible to get tangled up in other tools or supplies. The squareness of the vacume alows it to store easier in my truck. Finally, it really performs well while cleaning up after professional home repairs.

Ridgid's Pro Pack is a winner in my book. I purchased this model 2 weeks ago specifically for detailing vehicles, I've used it on 2 vehicles (SUV and mid-sized sedan). I'm very pleased with its performance. I have not used this as a wet-vac yet, but its clear the unit won't hold anywhere near 4 gallons of water.. and this is the only reason I initially hesitated purchasing this unit. The unit is lightweight, easy to pick up and carry. The on-off switch is large and easily accessible. The noise level is better than the 15 year old vac its replaced. The stretchable hose isn't cumbersome, I don't feel like I'm fighting the hose when reaching around different areas inside the car, I don't see a great need to upgrade to the orange Pro hose *yet*. I chose this model specifically because of the tool-box design and on-board storage - everything stores away inside the unit, cord, hose, accessories. All compartments are easy to open, the lids of the 2 storage bays open and remain open without fuss. I also purchased an additional accessory nozzle (Model #VT1739) that fits in the storage bay along side the included accessories. Everything I need is stored inside the "vac-box", it's great, a neat and clean design. Love that it tucks away on a shelf in my garage. I definitely recommend this unit, unless you have a routine need to suck up a lot of water.

  • It's not you, it's me...ok, it's you.

I have purchase vacuums/tools from Rigid in the past and generally recommend their product. I got a wild itch to buy this vacuum because it looked like it would pack nicely into the work van. While it packs nicely, the features fall short when using the vacuum. Not having wheels means you must hold the vacuum or leave it stationary on the ground. Both are problematic. While holding it, i constantly turn the vacuum off because the on/off switch is over sized and easily brushed against while walking about. While the vacuum is stationary, the hose is so rigid you will understand how the product got it's name. There are two other tidbits that will drive you insane. The extension wand keepers pull off when you try to remove the extensions and the attachment compartments are capable of ripping your fingernails clean off. I'm sure they will lose tension after a few uses. In summary, I like most of Rigids products and find them to be a good value. I would stick to one of their other vacuums.

Powerful enough, lightweight, compact design, nice storage spaces. I use this for everything from cleaning cars to the finish cleaning of a flooded basement after the sump pump does what it can. I have owned this for two years and purchased it from my local Home Depot. My 4-star rating is due in part to the fact that one of the hose holding clips on the back broke so I am no longer able to store the hard hose attachments on the vac, but primarily to the fact that the attachment end of the hose separated from the hose, thereby rendering the hose attachments useless. It performed well for almost two years but this break requires me to purchase a replacement hose (and I did try to reattach as the hard plastic end piece is undamaged, simply separated, but to no avail).

  • Portable, more quiet, long cord, large on-off switch

In the workshop, a 16 gallon W/D vac handles the load, but when I work around the house and in the vehicles that big monster is heavy, awkward, and most of all-too loud. Now that I have had a chance to work the Rigid 4.5 gallon W/D Vac, it looks like it will meet my requirements. It is small enough to carry through narrow doorways or stairs and not scratch up the walls or woodwork. The power cord is long enough to get the vac to where it is needed. More than enough power to pick up after trim work, clean out the fireplace and vac up the car. This product is intended to be used in close quarters. It has to be quiet enough so that my lousy hearing does not get any worse. I have no measurements to back it up, but it seems to have a lower Db than the other vacuums I have worked with. The sole exception being the old portable Fein. Fein changed the design and put wheels on and ruined it. On a small portable vacuum, wheels are a bad idea. When you use a small portable vacuum, you want the vacuum to stay where you put it and not roll around and bump into the walls and woodwork or scratch the flooring. The large on/off toggle switch makes it easy to turn the vacuum on and off with a poke of the crevice tool or with gloves on. It is a thoughtful design for those with a need of portability in a W/D vacuum. So far I am very happy with my selection.

It sucks ; literally in a good way! Also, it blows! Good for less precise outdoor cleaning. Had a smaller Rigid vac, I think 3.5 HP, this hands down is what you need if you're cleaning anything worthwhile like drywall dust....see resultant capture below. Great storage case. Drawback would be no wheels, but light and compact enough to carry, so I think that's a win in my book - although probably not good if you're vacuuming water and need to carry. Orthogonal design makes it easy to store in the garage too!

One of the best purchases for cleaning up on a job site. I bought this because I had to cut open a client’s wall and didn’t have a way to clean up afterwards. This vacuum comes in handy. The length of the power cord was surprising and the fact that everything packs up in the unit makes it easy to store and carry around to different jobs. Worth every penny. I’ve recommended it to all the guys I work with.

  • Good product for Motorhome
  • February 15, 2017

We ordered this vacuum to use in our motorhome. It has great suction for both dry and wet use. We like that it stores squarely in the bays under our coach so other items fit nicely around and on top. Our first use was to clean the carpets inside the motorhome. It picks up dry items well including pet hair. We hand washed and rinsed the carpets and used it to vacuum up the water and dirt. It did a great job. We did however have to put a fan on the carpet for further drying. My one dislike is that the two joining hose tubes are too flimsy with the strong suction so we ended up not using them and having to work on our hands and knees. I believe they would work fine on a hard surface and for dry use.

  • Awesome Vac. Customers are impressed.

Love this shop vac. I use it almost daily as a home theater installer. I'm vacuuming mostly sheetrock dust and insulation. Looks and feels like a toolbox. Customers are surprised when I open it up and start cleaning. Stacks well in the van. I also use as a small step stool and a chair to sit on. I weigh 220 lbs. I've had it for two years. The filter cleans easily. Haven't needed to replace yet. The handle did break the other day. But I was able to order a replacement part for about $15 including shipping. I'm always recommending this to friends and customers.
